amazing place for a causal evening. the drinks a really good. happy hour on Friday gives amazing snacks at very affordable price. Did I say that all the snacks are VEGAN! the taste is really really good and enjoyed. don't miss the yuba swarma (vegan). over all great place to hangout.
Simply wonderful Fantastic Big professionality Lots of amazin instrument Beautiful people
Nice cozy place,
Loved it outstanding beautiful
it's got a really sweet ambience with stone and brick walls. appreciate the multiple seating- low cushioned benchs, tables with chairs, and bar with stools. nice outdoor bench to chat on. cheap beer as well as nice cocktails. also a great vegan bar food. a favorite spot for meeting friends, dates, quiet reading time.
Worst firehouse ever. Not one single pole to slide down. Not even any hoses. Fire trucks? Forget about it. Your better off going to a real firehouse.
Cool place. Love the repurpose. Lyman Center jazz concert drew me in. Can't wait to return to New Haven
Great music, intimate environment, amazing tuned room.
Magnificant, modern and well thought out. The living space is the best idea you've had for a hang out. Everything is as stylish and convenient as it is comfortable.
Nice atmosphere. Food was a little to ambitious.
Intimate is the perfect word to describe this bar. Tucked away in a basement, the decor is swanky and cozy. Plenty of nooks to hang with a group or just a date. The cocktails are well made and strong, the price is not too high. They also have a decent selection of beer, for PBR to local brews. I definitely recommend.
If you are looking for a hip low key space in New Haven this is it. The atmosphere here is perfect, it's a place you can relax at for hours. The prohibition punch is delicious and there are some good wines to choose from too.
Fire at the firehouse! Beautiful studio with some of the best audio engineers in the biz.
Hidden gem. Some cheap drinks, lots of expensive drinks. The music studio is a great touch.
Cozy little beautiful subterranean cocktail bar. Wonderful small-plate food with great inventive vegan options. Good wine and craft brew selection. Friendly fast service. Tell only your favorite people.
Not impressed. I brought a friend here for Valentine's Day and was underwhelmed at every chance Firehouse 12 had to make the night a nice classy outing. We seated ourselves in a booth and looked toward the bartender expecting a menu to be brought to us. Apparently, NOT here. You have to go order and then get back up to retrieve your own drinks. Not that it was too busy for him to serve us at our table, either. Second, the music was terrible (generic rock) and didn't add to or create any type of ambiance. Third, my friend didn't enjoy her drink and mine (Prohibition Punch) tasted like a hurricane with cheap liquor and too much ice. Tasted like something I would get at Friday's or some other suburban chain restaurant. I think the decor I saw online tricked me into having the wrong expectations for Firehouse 12. Similar places in NYC and other cities are considered upscale. This place has so much potential to tap into an unserved market of places for young people to have a nice date or even just mingling without yelling over the music. If you're seeking a "grown and sexy" evening keep on trekking.
Great venues great players....
Snacks til closing ~midnight and snack specials pictured. Clean nice basement bar in old firehouse.
One of my favorite bars to frequent in New Haven. Awesome staff, always surprised with how many cocktails the bartenders know how to make. The only negative is that it fills up fast and it gets hard to find a seat.
Triple threat: great live jazz (kick of it avant-garde), music, drinks, and now food. Only place like it in the region.
Super chill, nice place to get a cocktail
One of the best listening rooms on the east coast, and a great bar downstairs.
Excellent space. I didn't visit the bar but I looked down and the ambience and seating looked wonderful. The studio was a terrific space to enjoy a set of Avant-garde jazz. Ample seating, great lighting, and the sound was to die for. Two thumbs way up! The box office associate and the production manager were both huge helps. I'll be back soon!
I love the atmosphere here and will definitely be back. The drink prices are great and the drinks are pretty good. Nothing to write home about but a great place to hang out for a chill evening.
This is a cool hip bar in a funky industrial setting. I loved the bar top fabricated from a PSL - very unique. My only complaint is that their liquor selection is a bit limited. They could use to get some more mixers on the shelves, so that their bartenders can mix up a greater variety of cocktails.
The bar space is rather small but cozy and chic. The atmosphere is is open and friendly and the bar is well appointed. The music space is upstairs and theater like with very good acoustics and there's an elevator to serve the two floors. They tend to have good music, it's a fun place!
This is a cute little bar that has live music from time to time. This review is for the bar only -- I did not get to come during a time with music, unfortunately. The bar is not bad. The drinks are neither weak, nor strong. They have a decent selection of cocktails, though I am sure they could whip something up for you that is off-menu. I was sad my old fashioned came with multiple ice cubes, rather than one large misshapen cube. I was really disappointed they do not serve any fries! How do you sell alcohol and have no carbs to absorb it?! The ambiance is hip and dark, and service is good. I would give this place another chance.
This place is a nice little gem in New Haven. It is in a quieter part of town, and is located downstairs in what seems to be the basement of what used to be a firehouse. Now it is a bar with a dimly lit and cozy setting with plenty of comfy seating areas. The vibe is mellow and it is never really too crowded or loud. The bartender is nice and accommodating. They have a reasonable selection of house cocktails and a good selection of beers, wines, and spirits. There's nothing too fancy here, but there's definitely something for everyone and the prices are very reasonable. The food menu is actually pretty impressive. They have a selection of very reasonably priced small plates and flatbread sandwiches that have very unique flavor profiles. There was this dish that had grilled white cheese topped with olives and pickled watermelon that was really tasty. Also, there was a cheesy flatbread sandwich that was also pretty delicious.
Cozy, intimate and dark- my favorite bar in the New Haven area. Bartenders are friendly, drinks are great, small bites from the kitchen bar always excellent and reasonably priced. DJs spin music Sunday nights and Tuesdays.

Firehouse 12 is a great place to go for a drink or a snack in New Haven, especially if you are looking for a quieter place to enjoy time with friends in a nice environment. They apparently have live music at times, but I've never encountered it.
Great for some late night drinks with a good atmosphere.
The best jazz scene in the area, it is also a studio so the sound and ambience are impeccable. See these excellent musicians in this intimate space while you can because once they play here, the acclaim soars and they go on to larger venues.
My husband and I came for a drink on a recent weekend evening. The bar downstairs feels like a lounge-y bunker. (There's really no other way to describe it!) The benches along the sides are definitely the most comfortable way to go, though bar and table seating is available. For being a small place, they have a pretty solid whiskey selection, including the ever scarce Angel's Envy Rye. The beer selection is small, but they had a local IPA to my liking. This spot is intimate without being stifling. I'd definitely come back for a drink or a show.
Nice atmosphere! Happy hours until 7 offer good deals for drink and they offer a small, but really nice free buffet. The snack are delicious.
Carlos is the man. Wonderful bartender, great music, the best gourmet bar food. Free happy hour on Fridays. One of my favorite places in New Haven . Jazz upstairs!!!
Beautiful space and amazing cocktails! Get there early if possible because it fills up fast!
Great ambiance, cozy and not too loud. Thursday happy hours are fantastic!
I love the ambiance of this place, its very warm and cozy. the appetizers/ small plate foods were very good especially the baked brie. they have a great wine selection and good strong traditional cocktails. a great date place or just a nice place for a stiff drink.
