Pita pizza? Yes please. It's hard to find authentic Greek food. Fresko's has it.

Driving through New Haven and spotted this little gem. Great Greek food in CT. Who knew? Loved the hummus and the Greek Salad was as good as the one I get at this extremely fancy restaurant in NYC. Everyone was so nice and smiling. They say the Mediterranean diet is the way to go and if you want to eat right and have an unbelievably inexpensive meal that's downright delicious, Freskos baby.

My girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised when we walked into Frescko, as the new decor was quite nice. Unfortunately, our experience ordering our take out lunch was not so good. To begin with, we each ordered small salads and soups; yellow split pea and avgolemono. The young girl taking our order was very nice. When the orders were being filled, one of the two orders was prepped without the soup in the bag. The girl who took the order caught this and corrected Chris, as he was the person packaging the orders. He came across as being mildly frustrated with the soup being left out of the order that he himself was prepping and thereafter left the young girl visibly miffed by his reaction. The cost of a small salad with added meat was $10.50 and a small soup at $4.75. It struck me as being slightly expensive, but we are all about supporting local merchants in our neighborhood. When we finally squared away our orders, we went back home. When we opened the salad we were both a little surprised. The salads were not exactly what we expected. While there was a generous amount of meat, the salad was clearly lacking. Tomatoes were thickly cut as were the cucumbers. A lot of green pepper, a few olives and a couple of grape leaves and a slice of feta cheese. No red onion as was described for that salad. And furthermore, it surprised me when I noticed that no tzatziki was included. Ok, not to be a stickler, but honestly; I've been eating Greek salads for years and I've never experienced tzatziki not being included. If it isn't included, then let the customer know. For something as simple as a Greek salad, I was frustrated by the fact that the onions and sauce were not included. At that point I decided to call. Chris answered the call and I explained to him the above mentioned. I was not upset, yet he insisted that I was both very angry and upset. He further added that it would "make his day" if he could deliver the red onions. Are you kidding me? And no doubt that he was being sarcastic. Needless to say, my girlfriend and I chatted while eating our lunches about what had just transpired. We had a good laugh. In our opinion, Fresko can do a better job on several levels. Getting it half right is not enough to maintain a successful business. When you are in the service business, from the kitchen to the front end help, every detail matters. There is little room for error. There is a right way of doing things and dealing with people. Best of luck.

Funny that I found the best Greek food in Connecticut in New Haven! Hands down, the best lamb gyro I have had outside of Astoria, Queens. I bought some of the spicy feta spread to take home and use it as an appetizer on crackers. The hummus is really creamy and has the right balance of lemon-not an easy feat. The Greek salad, if Freskos was closer to my home, would be my after gym meal. Lucky for me that I go to a lot of Yale men's basketball games!

It was okay, but I make better Avgolemono at home so I don't see a need to return. So far, I have only tried the soup so I might try some other dishes and update my review later. I am not feeling very inspired to return based on what I've tried though...

Overall: quick tasty bite, small, neat, conveniently located with parking, good for couples or groups of 4, a bit pricey.

Really good food. I had the shrimp souvlaki as a combo with the rice pudding as a dessert. Delicious. And staff is friendly. Place is clean and right in downtown.

Be careful---I find there dishes have a lot of sodium.

The salads are served in a paper box as your "plate" even if you eat in house (the space is small). The salad ingredients were fresh but the pieces were so huge who could eat them: oh wait, I should use my plastic knife and plastic fork. I went twice and that was enough (I like getting salads; their sandwiches look good too but read other reviews for those).

Our office orders a few times a month! We love it, always fresh! They always get the orders right! Best Greek in Town!

It is a tasty and with great quality incredients sandwich or pita wrap but it is not gyros. Gyros is meat that has been chopped properly and not two big chunks, has fries and mustard and ketsup. I saw the big flag outside and got too excited that I will taste something close to what we have home. Instead I got something similar to what I can find in any non-greek "gyros" or Mediteranean place in New Haven. But better give it a try yourself, perhaps I am too harsh because of too high expectations.
