I have always enjoyed coming for a good dinner here. But my latest visit made me feel so uncomfortable. I could overhear my server being so rude and saying things in another language about customers, and she didn’t realize I knew what she was saying. I have seen her before there awhile back and it’s a shame Kenny brought her

It was good; I liked the dumplings and chicken katsu; the curry sauce was delicious. I think the interior could have been a little better, felt a little low on the energy inside.

Kuro Shiro and Mecha are the two best ramen restaurants in New Haven. They're equally great, but Mecha offers better portions and more options/customizations.The Tori Karage, deep-fried chicken served with spicy chili sauce, was a decent foray into the meal. The chicken was somewhat crispy on the outside and tender inside, but the spicy chili sauce lacked that distinctive zing, leaving a bit to be desired in the flavor department. It was microwaved and reheated, which was unfortunate because what should have been crispy outside was soggy and wetter. It tasted like a day-old and reheated Mcdonald's chicken nugget. It's different from what I've had in Japan in terms of batter/flavor or method of frying. 3/5. Moving on to the Takoyaki, these octopus balls made with a wheat flour-based batter were a solid option. The texture was spot on to what I've had before - a crispy exterior with a soft, almost creamy interior. However, the octopus could have been more prominent in the flavor profile. There was an abundance of batter and not enough octopus filling. 3/5. The Shoyu Ramen, a classic in any Japanese eatery, was a great rendition. The broth had the foundational soy sauce flavor and the depth and richness that characterize great Shoyu Ramen. The noodles were cooked well, maintaining a pleasing chewiness. 5/5. Lastly, the Spicy Miso Ramen, adorned with onion, bean sprouts, cabbage, scallion, egg, and corn, promised a hearty experience. The ingredients were fresh, but the broth fell short. It was mildly spicy but overly salty. It lacked the complexity and robust miso flavor that one looked for in top-tier spicy miso ramen and tasted like a cheap packaged ramen with too much salt and corn flavors more than anything else. 3.5/5. Kuro Shiro offers a somewhat satisfactory experience with flashes of potential, but the dishes we tried could have reached the heights of flavor and authenticity we had hoped for. The ambiance and service were highlights, creating a pleasant dining environment, even if the culinary journey wasn't as impressive.

I had the original tonkotsu ramen and was honestly a bit disappointed. There wasn't much depth or flavor to the broth, it felt very light for a pork broth. Maybe I've been spoiled by Ichiran or Marafuku? I did the enjoy the takoyaki here. Service was fine. The layout of the restaurant is a little wonky.
