Came here Wednesday 4/12 for severe stomach and chest pain. Was sent home with “indigestion” and was told to take pepcid. Well the pain wasn’t stopping so I went to Milford hospital on Thursday morning and ended up needing my gallbladder out. I’m so upset I was just brushed under the rug.

Worst experience going to hospital. If it’s a bad emergency, the patient might died already because of such long wait time.

Do not take your child with mental illness here. Highly recommend Dartmouth. Cost more for me to move away, but totally worth it. I literally had a child restrained for crying in emergency room before inpatient where mothers and fathers are not allowed! Beware.

I went to psych emergency for suicide attempt. Medicare only covers one suicide attempt per year. Check your health insurance before suicide attempt. The first one I got good service, but the following ones the bean counters got upset. There are two psych ERs. The first one and the second one. I survived and am doing good so….

Now usually I praise healthcare workers because my mom is one herself but this emergency room is absolutely terrible. I waited literally hours to be seen just for them to give me ibuprofen… and Its just awful communication there i suggest stay away unless you have a life threatening emergency.

Years ago, I showed up to Yale New Haven Hospital's ER (the one on York St) with clear signs of heart failure. The APRN who saw me in the ER didn't order the proper diagnostic tests for someone with heart failure symptoms. (He unfortunately assumed it wasn't heart failure, despite my symptoms, so he didn't bother testing for it.) My diagnosis was missed (because of his mistake) and I was admitted "for observation." A few days later in the hospital, once my heart condition was discovered, one of the doctors told me that "a mistake has been made, my condition was overlooked." The doctor (who informed me that a mistake had been made) told me that if the person who saw me in the ER ordered the proper diagnostic tests, my heart condition would have been found/diagnosed immediately, and I would have been prescribed the heart medications I needed right away... rather than a few days later. I gave my medical records to a lawyer, and he had other doctors look at it. They came to the same conclusion... that not ordering the proper diagnostic tests delayed my condition from being discovered, resulting in me not receiving the heart medications I needed until later. So, I contacted Yale's Patient Relations. They mailed me an "apology" that didn't even apologize for any mistakes made. (Their letter was basically "sorry that you feel that way/sorry that you're dissatisfied.") It was BS. Since it was clear that they weren't going to have the APRN who messed up on my care speak with me, I asked if I could speak with the APRN's boss. When I spoke with the APRN's boss, she was incredibly rude to me, giving me an attitude. She ended the conversation by speaking over me, saying "I'm no longer interested in having this conversation" and transferred me back over to Patient Relations before I could even finish what I was saying. I'm sure many of Yale's medical staff members are competent, despite that one of their APRNs screwed up. But regarding the APRN's boss, she should look at herself in a mirror. If it were one of her family members who was in my situation, I doubt she would have acted that unethically.

This is the best ER experience I have had in my life and I have been a bit due to playing sports my whole life. The staff were very kind, attentive and quick. I was in and out in 1 hr. RN Rochelle and Dr. Goldfam provided excellent care and were extremely kind. Amazing experience for a rough day. Still shook at how quick it was.

This is a review related to Yale's Pediatric Neurology Department and scheduling. Imagine you receive an email to go to your online health chart for a message regarding your young child. Automatically my heart skips a beat! Then my heart goes into an unimaginable pounding because it indicates a phone message was left and your son's neurology appointment has been changed from January to May. I am enraged because there was no left message and how can a doctor's office arbitrarily change such an important appointment without my input. He is new to Dr. Cardinale's practice or caseload and he is supposed to be seen twice yearly to monitor seizure activity, health and effectiveness of two medications (one which is a narcotic)! This is not a run of the mill condition and I feel like Yale DOES NOT care about my young son and his health oendevelopment. There is a lot of anxiety that comes with these yearly appointments and wondering and relying upon professionals to guide you though this MEDICAL process. Yale has contributed immensely to my and my son's existing anxiety in this time of transition to a new doctor. You have made me feel like a number and not a human being. Your practices lack empathy, consideration and lack of humanity! I am thoroughly disgusted and disappointed!!! At this point I would make any such recommendations to this facility and those of us within the parental community of children with Epilepsy talk, and share information, both good and bad!!!

The truth is that the Yale hospital, especially the adult emergency department is worth nothing. they have kept all of New Haven, they gives the face of charging valet parking to those who go to the emergency room. Terrible service, four hour wait with my adult daughter who was vomiting in the ER, in horrible pain. Nurses at the front desk having fun with the security guards. Four security guards, two having coffee and all laughing with the nurses at the front desk out loud as if they were at a party outside. I pay 150.00 because my insurance is private, not that I go for nothing. If I go it is because it really is an emergency. Fix the system you have that is worthless. AND THE SECURITY GUARDS AND NURSES AT THE FRONT DESK THEY NEED TO BE PROFESSIONALS.

I don’t know all the reasons why - it may be just the crisis the entire healthcare system is in right now - but I spent 18 hours in this ER due to a broken ankle. Seventeen and a half of those hours I was just laying in various hallways waiting for care. They are extraordinarily understaffed. People who needed care far worse than I did were laying there for hours also. When I was finally seen, the doctor was very good at resetting my fracture (the only reason for two stars instead of one), but told me things about the upcoming surgery I would need that just weren’t true (I would need full general anesthesia [not just sedation] and if I can’t get a morning appointment, be prepared for the surgery to be delayed because of the dual surgery/ER staffing “gets crazy” later in the day). Knowing I wouldn’t go back to Yale unless my life depended on it (and I’d even think twice about that), I called around and had an extremely pleasant, efficient, and effective surgery performed at CT Orthopedics (3 1/2 hours in and out and with only a local nerve block).Sincerely, if I had to choose that 18 hours in the ER again or the surgery again, I’d choose the surgery.Lessons learned: Always try an urgent care first, and always get a second opinion. And for heavens sake let’s fix the healthcare system. I’m going back many years here but I’ve never seen an ER wait time of any more than an hour.

One of the worst medical experiences I’ve had. Had a broken ankle and they wouldn’t give me pain medications even though I’d maxed out on nsaids and acetaminophen and was still in pain (the day of the break, with no history of pain med use or abuse). My ankle was the size of a baseball, the X-ray showed a fracture, and I was there for hours, crying, before anyone even asked me about my pain level. The saving grace was the nice nurse who came to help me with discharge when I eventually called and said I was discharging (since I wasn’t getting any assistance - regardless of ringing the call bell several times). And it wasn’t a busy night in the ER from the looks of it. Disappointed in Yale.

Worst hospital Ever, you’ll wait in the er for 12 hours In the er. Just to be told they aren’t sure they can get you in. Go anywhere else, A witch doctor would be better

I went there for a procedure and my wife was treated very badly and kicked out almost before I was awake they had to call security because they have rules that don't allow a multi-person room to have multiple people in it. Worst hospital experience I have ever had. If my procedure was done in Greenwich hospital I would have rather been there

Parking for Emergency room is a Joke, had a valid handicap placard and an empty handicap spot in front, but they told me I can't park there and said I had to Valet, and pay.#yale you can do better!!???

WORST hospital on planet earth. Staff is utterly incompetent. Physicians are beyond useless. I wouldn't put my worst enemy in this hole. I'd rather die on the street than go there.
