OLD Brixton was amazing. I always had a blast there. But I will never be returning. I took my family there when they were visiting from out of town, and was so embarrassed by how rude the bouncers were. We were trying to take a family photo and the bouncer wouldn’t even allow us to crowd together to take a photo by the patio. Overpriced drinks, empty atmosphere, no DJ, bad music. Complete opposite of what it used to be and I’m sad to see it. Brixton went from being my favorite place to go to being sworn off of my list. NOT POC friendly!!!!!!

The place looks good but the staff is awful. They treat their clients like trash and we were forced to leave the place after asking them to unlock the pool table as it was broken.I wouldn’t recommend unless you have no other choice, but you do have as there is a lot of cool bars just a few blocks away.

I walked in, I went up oder a drink and coughed because that’s a thing that humans do. The bartender immediately went on to red alert and ordered me to be kicked out of the bar. A few people who worked at the bar walked up to me and ushered me out. Will never enter this establishment again and neither should you.

The Brixton is back! I thought they were gone for good. I went recently to catch up with a friend who wanted to go to a rooftop. This place immediately came to mind as I have been on several occasions, especially for their Hookie pre-parties. I have actually never stayed on their first floor... mainly just their second and the rooftop. Following their usual pattern, usually the rooftop is the only one that's open initially and the second floor opens for the 'real' party later on. I love their rooftop -- it's huge, and has ample seating space, standing space, covered and exposed area. The views aren't all that exciting... it's just 9th & U haha. You can see people partying across the street at Nellie's. Well, now there are some new buildings so you see other people on rooftops in the distance. I have never had their food -- in fact, now, they currently do not have food and you can bring some from other places. But I do enjoy their drinks and their music. If the weather is nice, it's one of the perfect rooftops to enjoy! I recommend it if you haven't been yet.

Fun place with a nice atmosphere. Always busy and kind of crowded, which some like. A little more expensive than surrounding bars.

Yes the line at Brixton can get a little long but their hotdogs are so good! It's been a minute since I've been at Brixton but every time I have it's never disappoints. This bar has three dance floors. Upstairs has a cute photo booth in the back with immaculate views of the city and also the bars across the street. If your trying to have fun hit up the middle dance floor, it's always a blast but can get super crowded and hot!

I've been to the Brixton a good many times now; it's one of my go-to bars on U street for a couple of reasons that I'll highlight below. Happy hour - the Brixton happy hour is pretty solid. They have Mon-Fri beer, wine, and rails HH. I'm a rails kind of guy, so the $6ish drinks are just my speed. The drinks are of solid quality, not too strong but you definitely feel you're getting your moneys worth. They also had some food specials on their HH menu -- I've gotten the wings before which are pretty good. Not great, but definitely good enough for bar wings. Environment - this spot is a in a fairly busy U street area but it never seems to be packed or overly busy. The vibe is nice, comfortable spacious seating, two levels with multiple bars, and a more mature clientele then other U st bars. This is always a great place to visit knowing I can come and relax and socialize with a few drinks in hand. Rooftop - the top floor of the bar is a nice covered rooftop which I love. It's partially covered which makes it possible to sit there during the colder fall and winter months but still nice and cool in the summer months. Great atmosphere up there. If you're looking for a good place to get up with a group then the Brixton is the place for you. I've been on both weekdays for HH and weekends for the post brunch move and both were enjoyable. Will definitely be back!

I wish they would go back to how it was before COVID. They’re second floor used to be SO fun, we would come here all the time, and the rooftop was fun too! Now the second floor is like an empty lounge and the rooftop is the only ~ok~ part. Really rebranded themselves into being boring.

Wish we could give 0 stars. Went to have a good time, and on our way out, got accused of doing something. Literally have no idea what it was. 3-4 absolute idiots, Brixton calls them bouncers, and they threw my friend down the stairs. Out of all restaurants I've been to, this was the single worst experience I've had. I hope the owner goes bankrupt and this place goes out of business. Don't go here. Ps. This place sucks a**

This was a favorite spot to go to until we had an extremely aggressive encounter with the gentleman at the door. He's a retired veteran with a lot of displaced anger. They had a wait to sit upstairs on the rooftop and we were a-okay with waiting but that seem to not register with him. He and two ladies were at the door, when we were finally seated, I talked to the server who said that he could be a lot to handle, so I requested the manager who turned out to be one of the ladies at the door. You could tell that she was not only embarrassed but had no control over the situation or him. Such a shame because I've been coming here for years.

So this review is based on what Brixton was before covid and what is has become. It was a fun party bar. It has rebranded itself into another DC spot with mediocre food and a boring atmosphere. There used to be a line around the building on Saturday night. Now, it looks like this death. The rebranded themselves out of business. Raise your prices but keep getting money.

Perfect spot to celebrate a coworkers birthday, with plenty of space for everyone to mingle! Looking forward to coming back for a date night. The Brixton clearly put a lot of attention to detail in creating such a cool atmosphere on the rooftop. I appreciate a cocktail menu that evolves each season! The drink names on the cocktail menu will give you a chuckle, with mixes worth remembering. I didn't personally get any food while I was here, but everyone around me sent their plates back empty. Adam and the rest of the staff, especially our server Izzy, were all welcoming and accommodating. Gamal even spent time tracking me down so I didn't leave without my wallet (left it right on the bar- showing how comfortable I was here HA).
