Food is delicious and great value. Cumin lamb stir fry dish was my favorite, but the noodles and kimchi were tasty too.

About time I review CHIKO. They recently reopened Barracks Row location for inside dining, and I’m thrilled. I’ve been coming here pretty regularly since they opened back in 2017, and it’s definitely one of my favorite spots in DC. My favorite dishes are the brisket and confit duck fried rice, but everything on the menu is fantastic. If you see something new (and you will), give it a shot because they definitely put a lot of creative energy and care into their dishes.Oh yeah, and their take out bags are adorbs.

CHIKO is a neighborhood favorite - they just reopened recently for indoor dining. The pork kimchi dumplings and cumin lamb stir fry are in the regular rotation. While this is not quite the same level of authenticity as a mom and pops Asian restaurant with a lazy susan, I think the food does a good representation and pays homage to familiar flavors.

I brought my out-of-town friend here who was craving Asian food on a Saturday night. Since it is mostly a takeout place, we were able to secure seats for 2 people without difficulty. Orders are placed directly at the cashier before seating. We ordered and shared the brussels sprouts and Lamb cumin stir fry. The brussels sprouts were unexpectedly delicious 5/5! I highly recommend this dish if you want a veggie dish. I expected the lamb cumin stir fry to be succulent based on a rec from an acquaintance and I was not disappointed! Don't be fooled by the white color of the noodles. It just was not mixed properly. So, all the noodles were on top while the lamb was at the bottom. The lamb was so tasty and tender that we almost ordered another plate! By the time we got to the lamb, we wanted more noodles but they were sadly all gone. Definitely order the lamb cumin stir fry!

My friend and I were looking for a dinner before a play and we went to the Chiko location in Capitol Hill. I passed by the one in Bethesda, MD before but just didn't have time to ever venture in. We gave ourselves 2 hours before the play because we weren't sure how long it would take, but this place is fast service! You place the order with the cashier and just choose a table anywhere you'd like. We ordered the Chiko Brussels Sprouts (deliciously fried Brussel sprouts with gochujang aioli sauce and furikake), cumin lamb stir fry (has noodles), and specialty drink (non-alcoholic, I don't remember the name of them but they contain lemonade with hints of Szechuan peppercorn, was delicious. The lamb were nicely grilled and tender and had the perfect level of spice. I wish we could have ordered everything off the menu but my friend and I were pretty full from previous meal. Would highly recommend!!

Very happy with our choice of Chiko. There is a reason for all the raves on yelp. Our dishes were prepared with great attention to how best to prepare the ingredients to bring out their flavors. The duck fried rice was an addictive umami bomb. That house made hoisin really did it for us. The lamb noodle dish was also great.

I stopped by the Lunar New Year tea pop-up with Capitol Jill Baking and Sweets by Caroline today! Everything looked beautiful, and they were doing a good job with a long line. I wish I could leave a better review, but I ordered the donuts (black sesame passion fruit and tamarind caramel) and this was the interior: maybe a tablespoon of filling total. I think it tasted good, but I only got the one bite of filling, and the rest was fairly flavorless dough. I can't really recommend spending $5 per donut for plain dough, and I'm kind of sad about it. But that's what I get for trying pop-ups! There's no way to have quality control. Chiko's normal menu is always great, and I do definitely recommend that (especially their Chiko tots!). It's luck of the draw with partners, and I lost today for sure.

Absolutely delicious food. Love the duck confit fried rice, and the orang-ish chicken!

"Chi Ko, nestled in the bustling heart of Capitol Hill DC, presents an extraordinary culinary journey where Chinese and Korean cuisines harmoniously meld. Each dish we sampled was a testament to the chef's prowess in fusion cooking, beginning with the Duck Fried Rice. This dish was a delightful symphony of flavors, perfectly cooked rice intermingling with succulent duck pieces, offering a satisfying texture and rich taste. The Orange Chicken was another standout, transcending the usual fare with its tangy and sweet glaze, which enhanced rather than overpowered the tender chicken. It was a fresh take on a classic, elevating it with a sophisticated balance of flavors.Equally impressive was the Lamb Stir Fry. The lamb was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, and infused with a blend of spices that paid homage to both Chinese and Korean culinary traditions. This dish was a vibrant mix of tastes and textures, leaving an unforgettable impression. The Kimchi, a Korean staple, was exquisitely prepared. Its perfect blend of spice and fermentation added a delightful kick to the meal, showcasing the authenticity of their Korean dishes. Finally, the Smashed Salmon was a revelation. The salmon was flawlessly cooked, flaky and moist mixed with veggies. It was an innovative dish that encapsulated the essence of Chi Ko's fusion concept.

This location only does take out. Ordering was easy online and pick up was quick. We ordered the spicy bulgogi stir fry and the soy glazed brisket. We enjoyed the bulgogi stir fry. The bulgogi (beef) was served on ttoek (rice cake). The rice cake was cooked through and was chewy and not hard. The brisket dish was served on rice and with a soy marinated egg. The brisket wasn't my favorite and this dish was served with a lot of pickled peppers--also not my favorite and it wasn't in the description of the dish. It was a unique dish, but not for me. Both dishes were packed in a cup like container, not really good for the brisket dish, it made the rice mushy. And they did put a lot of rice and peppers and not as much of the meat. Overall it did have pretty tasty foods and would try other things, though the prices are a little high for the portions ($19 each).
