Cocktails are great and so is the service. The tacos were bad, which is a hard thing to do. Fish tacos were mostly breading and they were soaked in sauce, pastor tacos looked like chorizo, and were greasy. Guac and chips were pretty good.

I like the atmosphere of the place which accompanies the tasty tacos and unique margaritas they have. Will come back.

Food was amazing hands down good. The service not so good. I felt a little mistreated to be honest. And I didn't feel to welcomed. I'm not from the area and wanted to get something good to eat before hitting the road. I was alone as well, so I was able to see and pay attention to how other people were treated outside of myself. I wanted to order to go but was in my feelings about the over all experience. If I was treated better this place would get all stars. And I still tipped!!

Went there for a dinner with my dad - he is a flavor snob.Immediately, the service stuck out. Our waiter was on us, telling us the house favorites and getting us ready for their margaritas. The margaritas were okay, probably the last thing to write home about. Also thought they were a little pricey, but that’s all drinks in DC.We started with queso fundido; a queso-string-cheese hybrid topped with jalapeños, onions, and tomatoes. Was fantastic and paired amazing with their corn tortillas. For dinner, we tried the fish, chicken, and brisket tacos and ordered their birria taco-quesadilla (apparently also a house fav). All of the tacos were great; chicken and brisket were super tender, fish taco was juicy with sweet crema nodes. The birria taco-quesadilla was definitely more of just a quesadilla, I think it was the best meat on the table (my dad would disagree).Great vibes, trendy decor, has that small taqueria feel. If you’re looking for something boujee, not the place; if you want somewhere upbeat, affordable, and intimate, it is the place.

This place is top tier. My friend and I went on a Friday night and it was super busy, but the kind hostess said she would take our phone number while we waited, and that we could wait for bar seating. Soon another girl said we could have her seat as she was only getting take out, and we began chatting. She bragged about this spot and said her and her friends come very often and said we HAD to get the quesabirria tacos. So we ordered a round of those, the al pastor tacos, and the pork belly tacos, plus I got the strawberry jalapeño margarita while my friend got the blood orange one. When I tell you every taco was delicious, hot, and perfectly portioned!! And the margs were a perfect blend of sweet and spicy with a tajin rim. The tacos and margs are super reasonably priced (dare I even say affordable!), and so good. We ended up ordering 4 rounds of drinks and another round of the quesabirria tacos while we sat and chatted with each other and the very cool bartender. I can’t recommend this place enough, and we plan on coming back with all of our friends!

Best bar period. Food is amazing, service is prompt and helpful. The vibe is local and welcoming. Happy hour prices are fair with their own margaritas on tap, three choice of tacos including a mushroom vegan that's probably the best. Definitely a must if you're in Columbia Heights.

The food was decent but nothing special. Burrito needs more vegetables and less meat. The biggest critique was the churros! Too fluffy and the sauce was not good, need better in that department.

If you see an open table, go ahead and pop in and grab some tacos. You may be bumping elbows with other patrons, but it only adds to the experience. They have seriously good food and drinks, and a fun environment perfect for friends or family to catch up and unwind! We tried three tacos: chicken, duck confit, and shrimp. We couldn't pick a favorite! Service was casual and easy, and prices were fair. Definitely a gem in the area, and one I will be returning to soon!

This place is very casual but honestly feels like a neighborhood staple. I recently moved to DC and El Chucho jumped to the top of my list for great casual dining! The duck tacos are always perfection and the drink menu pairs very well with the food! I love almost everything on the menu besides their Guacamole (which isn’t my favorite) but you can’t go wrong with any of the tacos, the corn, quesos fritos or the drinks (I recommend Jeremiah’s blood and smoke).
