I discovered this place last week leaving a clients house. I've been searching the entire DMV and further for the past 35 years looking for a real BBQ joint and boy was I excited to finally find a spot that actually exceeded my expectations. It was a carry out visit, yet it was an very personalized and great experience. The owner took my order and made me feel I was at the right place, because its always a treat to be able to meet the owner and the person that who put their heart into making sure I had a great BBQ experience beyond his restaurant. There is not enough space here to describe what I thought about that phenomenal BBQ, fries, slaw and cornbread meal all very well prepared. Finally, I now know where there is a real BBQ joint in this town.

Brisket and spare ribs are go tos, fries, baked beans, m&c are good aides. Try the spicy bbq sauce. If you have a spicy life try the chilli.

Fat Pete's provided catering for a large event and the BBQ was a big hit. Excellent service and communication by the team, good value for the money, and of course the food was amazing. I highly recommend!

What a disappointment, because I used to love this place. My 75-year-old+ husband wanted a paper menu; no dice. Not a big thing, but it started a downhill experience. We ordered a platter for 2. Like other bbq places, they bring the food family style in paper bowls on a tray. We asked for plates to put our food on but were given paper bowls. (I used to always get the bbq chef salad and it was served on a plate; how can they have no plates now?) Had to get up myself to fetch salt and more napkins although there is no self-service station. (Fat Pete's has waiters.) The waiter did ask what kind of sauce we wanted and he brought us small plastic containers. In the past, they offered each table about 5 squirt bottles of the various sauces; guess they phased that out. The food is still good and I enjoyed it, but the experience was annoying.

Order the platter for four, the cornbread was burnt, the hush puppies were raw in the middle to the point of dough balls, there was barely any meat in the ribs, and the brisket was tough. Everything else was mediocre at best. I will never order from here again.

Had lunch without five kids and brother after a trip to the zoo. It was amazing—great and friendly service and such delicious food! Food Highlights were the pork belly and the collard greens. The bartender also put Bluey on the tv for our kids!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly

Got the $40 platter. The brisket and the turkey were beyond dry. I could tell they had just been sitting out. The crust/spices they used on the brisket were not any good. Cornbread was beyond cakey and far too sweet. Collard greens were very bland and far too soupy. No spice and again seemed as if they had just been sitting in a crockpot. Coleslaw was also far below par. Absolutely underwhelming - bland and dry. Hill country in chain town does a much better job on everything.

1 star. I believe they sell old/reheated food. The food does not taste fresh or of smoked process, flavorless, tasteless and dry. No bbq essence whatsoever except the name of this place. Everything including the sides are just not good. How did they earn any recognition? Or is it they reeled folk in and now they just dgaf? Or do they hire real professionals to smoke and prepare their foods when it suits them? Because there is no way this place should have received any notability. Sad to call this place a bbq spot! Lastly, the tall, heavy build and redish tan color beard guy who I believe to be the store manager is rude, unprofessional, and lacks basic customer service. Clearly he is all about his paycheck and not the actual quality of the food and overall customer service his establishment provides.

I had a bulk order of 40 platters and everything came out perfect. They went above and beyond and packaged them individually as I was delivering to several families for Thanksgiving. PJ even helped me carry the orders to my car! excellent customer service.
