Disappointed after being told we had to wait two hours at a popular spot down the road and popped into Pinea, and let me tell you- BEST disappointment ever! Justin seated us with a casual but responsive welcome, and set us up with drinks right away. Pinea is in a perfect location in the District. Adjacent to Pinea is the White House and not too far is the Washington Monument. Aside from the location, the service was good. The waiter was personable, attentive, and made sure we had a high level experience. We ordered cocktails and they came out immediately. The food here is definitely better than the three stars on Yelp! I had the scallops with rhubarb, which was scrumptious. Someone in my party had the signature 1-pound meatball dish, which I hear was good-- I tried the bucatelli and sauce which came with it and they were quite tasty, but I don't eat pork so I didn't try the meatball itself.
