The Brisket was fantastic. Ribs were great too! I've eaten at Bbq joints all over this country , the food at Sloppy Mamas. ranks with the very best

I throughly enjoyed the food. I had it at the End of the year party for Barcroft Elementary. The bbq is tender, delicious and mouthwatering. The cole slaw is just right on top of the bbq or on the side. The pickles are delicious. The corn bread is divine. All I can say is I can't wait to try their new restaurant on Lee hwy. Stephanie

Great barbecue, full stop! The brisket was to die for, juicy and spoon tender! The hot wings were amazing. I wish they'd bring back their legendary bacon brussels sprouts! I also placed a party order with Joe, he was super helpful, the food was amazing and ready well in time. I highly recommend this place. The spicy Chana is great for vegetarians too!

Took frozen BBQ to Michigan from Sloppy Mama's to an open house event, it was a great treat to our guests, a huge success for sure. Comments were made that Joe's BBQ was the best meal of the weekend as our guests attended several open house events that weekend.

Honestly, I'd rather have Royal Farms chicken sandwich over what I had from this place. Nothing special, nothing special at all. The baked beans weren't bad... but again, they "weren't bad." The fries looked good but disappointed so badly. Too mushy and not even warm. At least give me some crisp! The BBQ sauces also didn't impress one bit. Truly this place is "meh..."

This is a relatively mixed review. Meat - brisket was tender and pretty good I would give it 4 stars Sauce - kind of meh, didn't feel like any of them really were what I was looking for in a BBQ sauce. 3 stars Sides- this was the most disappointing part of the meal. I did not like any of the sides. Tried potato salad, slaw and beans. Overall - prob wouldn't go back unless I had a brisket craving.

I Ordered today. Paid $23-25 for a two meat and two sides meal. I ordered two meats (all wings) and I got 7 wings, I ordered 2 side 1 was beans and the other was corn bread (which is crazy that cornbread is a side). I got French fries and a big hard corn bread. I'm disappointed because it's was kinda expensive for 7 wings! Will not order again or recommend.

For a $23 meal of brisket and two sides, you should include butter and honey when it get delivers. Don't skimp out on the costumer.

Probably the best barbecue you'll get in DC. And the sauces are killer.

Moved here from North Carolina where we know our BBQ. Also worked for a KC based company and spent time there so I am picky. I would stack Sloppy Mama'a against anyone. Best brisket I've ever had ... not even close! Can't wait to go back and try everything else!!

Excellent BBQ and wings. Solly's could have easily gotten by on being a great little neighborhood corner bar with the expected usual bar food, but they really raised their food game by adding Sloppy Mama's. For some reason the Washingtonian constantly recommends their pulled pork. It's not bad, but it's nothing special either. Where Sloppy Mama's really shines is with their brisket. I'd personally recommend a platter because they are yet another place that seems to believe that every damn thing must be served on a brioche bun...WHICH IS A TERRIBLE IDEA!!!!!!! Seriously, you have this rich, fatty, heavy barbecue (all in a good way) and someone was stupid enough to think "Hey, let's serve it on a rich and buttery bun!" NO!!!!!! It's overkill, plain and simple. Whatever happened to barbecue and burger purveyors basic understanding of the perfection of a humble potato roll? One of the reasons Shake Shack is so good is because they use a simple but extraordinariyl effective potato roll. People should learn from Danny Meyers' example. Brioche buns suck, and they're particularly awful when you put barbecue or a burger inside them.

As a vegetarian, I can really only comment on the Happy Chana, which I had as a platter with two sides. My boyfriend got the meat of course which is pictured here. We are huge BBQ fans so were excited to see a spot in DC for it, though not as excited about the very DC price tag. Definitely is pretty expensive but I guess overall standard for a restaurant in this area. We sat on the outdoor patio which was nice, and my boyfriend really enjoyed his food. I definitely appreciate that Happy Chana is on the menu since it not only provides a substantive vegan option but is also interesting and different (as opposed to most bbq places where veg's can only eat side dishes) but it didn't taste particularly special nor did it feel worth the splurge. Truthfully when I smell BBQ I always wish there would be an option that gives a real bbq equivalent to meat, featuring some kind of mock meat or even a vegetarian poutine. Given DCs high population of vegetarians I really think there would be an appetite for some vegan wings or vegan ribs - I'm salivating just at the thought and would GLADLY pay $20+ for that - so I think it would definitely be worth it for them to try out something like that! In any case since my boyfriend loved it here I'm sure we'll be back, but I'll probably just save the money and stick to the sides when we do.

I order from here quite frequently from Postmates and the wings are fire. Never been here in person to know more than what is delivered. Brussels are good too!!
