Pasta was good but the service was not great - waitress was doubling as the bartender so we were pretty much left alone for long stretches of time. We visited on a Wednesday evening, the bar was pretty full but the restaurant was empty. HVAC didn’t seem to be on during the hot, muggy July evening and so the place smelled a little musty.

The pasta taste great, and so does the tiramisu! Service is alway very thoughtful and price is not as expensive as in other italian restaurants in the area.

Amazing food and the ambiance on the patio was great until the big rats came out at dusk, running close to the tables. I have a rat phobia and had to stand up and leave immediately. Phobia or not, rats during dinner is not nice no matter how good the food is.

We had dinner there while visiting the DC area with friends who had been there before and suggested it. It was excellent, good food, and pleasant service. I'm putting it down as a place to hit again.

Horrible food. Just had delivery of gnocchi bolognese. Ugh. It was a glutinous mess of overcooked 'dough' in a salty slightly off sauce. I had asked for fusilli/penne and no cheese. It was of course loaded with cheese.

1st time at this place - We attended a special music event in the rear patio of the restaurant.. What a find!! Good service and great food. As an Italian myself (as the owner - Matteo) I am very picky when comes time to eat at an Italian restaurant. Al Volo did not disappoint ! House wines, red & white (both by the glass) were really good. We had Arancini, Burrata, Pappardelle al cinghiale e Fagottini with lobster - ALL DELICIOUS !! Grazie Matteo

This is a fun place to have a drink, the food is okay, but the bar is really nice. And the outside seating area, if you can get a seat there, is also very nice.

Worst experience. I was here to pick my uber order. It took them 25 minutes to ask me my order information. They were handling eat in customers really well in the mean time and no one had an eye contact with me. Then the answer was they didn't get the order, asked me to wait another 20-30 mins.

Stumbled in on a random Monday night only to encounter the sweetest most caring people running shop and an amazing perfect reggae band setting the vibe. Yes, please!!!I will be back soon for more. Thank you!

Very well made fresh pasta. Service was very friendly. I ordered the Burrata but would have preferred it without the greens, but still very good. Has. Truffled pasta dish but it was a bit too much truffle making it a bit strong to eat. But the squid ink spaghetti was fantastic.

Wow...High quality, great tasting food with an amazing outdoor seating area in the back. Real grape vines dating back to the 1930s! I believe most, if not everything was homemade and everything was definitely put together with care and skill. The service was very attentive, friendly and seemingly grateful for the business. Excellent. Will go back and definitely recommend. For some history, this was the old Roma Restaurant, story told here:

Had a great experience tonight - Vickie was a wonderful server and makes the best espresso martini, will be back!

Delicious pastas at a fair price. Good sized menus. Pastas were all pretty 'heavy' so be sure to save room for their amazing deserts!

They have a patio area but the bar area inside is very nice. Pastas are good, drink specials are nice. There is a bakery in the front that is amazing, best croissants outside of Paris!
