These dry rub ribs were some of the best we ever had. They were not fall of the bone ribs, but the flavor was all that. The rib tips were just as flavorful. The place doesn't look like much and you would probably drive by if you didn't know because there isn't even a sign, but it is a hidden gem. Only downside, it is meat and bread only, so make sure to pick-up or prepare you sides.

Today’s my husbands birthday, and we picked up an order of ribs and chicken for the meats.. soooo worth it! It actually came out cheaper than if we’d bought the ribs raw and cooked them ourselves! Succulent and flavorful, and the grillsmith started cooking at age 12, you can tell he loves it and it shows thru the food itself ?

These ribs were very undercooked. I had to cook them for 2 1/2 hours more in oven then grill them to get the bark

I kept driving by and finally stopped a few months ago, now every time I am in Ft.Myers I detour to get some of this delicious food! The hot BBQ sauce is so good I could eat it with a spoon!! The rib tips are so delicious that you want to gnaw off every bit from the bones! For a true down south BBQ experience, you gotta try it! They do not provide sides and it is cash only. I highly recommend this place for your next meal!

This is our favorite BBQ place. We've been visiting McCarter's for twenty years. The ribs are wonderful--meaty, succulent and smoky. The prices are incredible. A huge rack of spareribs is $25. It fed my husband and me for three delicious meals. McCarter's is strictly a take-out restaurant. The only things on the menu are ribs (full rack $25, half rack $18 and chicken $?. I think there's also a sandwich.). The meat is served with white bread--no other sides, and they only accept cash for payment. Service is fast--generally I'm in and out in three minutes. Also, check their hours--they close very early in the evening. When we buy their ribs, I either prepare side dishes at home or we buy sides at a deli or grocery for a complete meal. When you pick up the ribs, they are well packed in a tinfoil baking dish and covered with heavy-duty foil, so they stay warm 'til you get home. To reheat the next day, put in a 250 degree oven (covered) for about 20-30 minutes, and they are almost as good as the first day. As I said, my husband and I ate them for three nights. A full rack would easily feed 4-6 people (unless teenage boys are involved). You can choose either hot or regular sauce. Be forewarned, unless you're into extreme hot, get the regular sauce.

Rated #1 on every website for BBQ in Fort Meyers. So we had to check it out while visiting the west coast. We called several times and the phone either rang with no answer or was a busy signal. We decided to drive over anyway and check it out, it was closed during lunch on a Thursday. We asked a local at a gas station a few blocks away if it was still in business and the response was "heard of it, is it still open?"
