If you don’t fit their vibe, you won’t get the same customer service. The first time I came here, it was with a group and it was alright. The second time I came, I waited AN HOUR for my tenders. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since it was a Saturday night but after seeing people receive their food that came way after me, that’s where I felt annoyed. Most recently, I came on Sunday for the late night menu, my partner and I sat at the bar & were completely ignored by both bartenders. But as soon as someone one of them knew walked in, all attention to them. Like another comment here said, if you’re a personal of color, don’t come here because it started feeling to me that I wasn’t worth their attention. You will get far better service at other places in Gainesville that won’t treat you like you’re invisible.

If you're a person of color and the majority of the people you hangout with, are as well, do NOT come here. We were treated disgustingly by the servers and no one even came to check on us.I've been living in Gainesville for a while, and I never go out. I have always been told or heard of "the Top" for a while. I decided to finally leave my house and take my family, who were visiting, to go try out this place. I was excited and when we walked in, we were greated by some slender man who didn't say anything to us but that we had to find our own place to sit and that we could order from the bar or someone would come to us. We finally found a place to sit, cause mind you, it's a Saturday night and everyone is out and about. We find a seat and then here comes this lady with a septum piercing telling us that the side we were sitting at was closed and we needed to leave, mind you, there was still people sitting in this area eating and receiving food and drinks!! We tried to tell her what the man said but she walked away and didn't even care to assist us. We ended up finding a place outside and we waited to be helped but no one cared to come to our table. We watched as 3 different workers check and bring drinks and food to other people, but paid us no mind. We ended up just getting one drink and leaving. This is a shame and I will never come back here and will tell whoever about my experience.

I’m from Tampa and this place was recommended from a friend. I was skeptical but this place is so quirky and unique. Our server Renh was amazing and made our experience even better! I had the chimichurri steak and nachos… 10/10. Also highly recommend the espresso martini with the house whiskey

Wheelchair accessible entrance, an employee eagerly held the door for me to enter and tables (they are a few inches taller than the average tables I used to so my knees don’t touch the underside, yay!). Busy, a bit loud from happy customers enjoying their tables company in conversation. Weird things happen at the host desk. We arrived just before 8 last night. There were plenty of tables available. We were told there would be a 25-30 minute wait. I didn't understand why. We were seated in that time frame. After we were seated, a couple that was clearly there before us were seated at an empty table behind us. I've never worked on the restaurant business, so I don't understand what goes on. I think it would be better to have people seated at a table rather than staring at you wondering why you can't be seated at an empty table. The food, service and drinks were great.
I absolutely love this restaurant!! The food is amazing!! I love the vegetarian options!!Vegetarian options: Pecan crusted tofu/blackened tofu is excellent. Black bean cakes are very good. You can substitute tofu in several dishes.

In fact, if it were in any state besides Florida I'd make the trip just for this resto. It's that special.Most of the food is excellent (I stick to the vegan options), though some of it is a hit or miss depending on who's in the kitchen. But the food is really just a bonus: it's an "atmosphere" joint. Highly recommend.

Disappointing Experience at The Top:I have been a long-time customer of The Top, but my recent experience has left me extremely dissatisfied. This marks the second time in just three months that I've encountered a frustrating issue with the restaurant, and unfortunately, it seems that customer satisfaction is not a priority.Upon arriving with a party of six, we informed the hostess that our entire group was present. It is the restaurant’s policy to not officially start the wait time until the entire party is present. However, despite this information, our wait was grossly underestimated. I had previously believed in The Top's commitment to underpromise and overdeliver, but this was certainly not the case.To make matters worse, when a table for six finally became available after an hour, only two other people were seated at this table for six. I had to personally intervene at the host stand to rectify the situation, and although they efficiently moved the incorrectly seated diners, the damage was already done.Despite the commendable efforts of our server, Felix, to salvage the evening, I felt compelled to speak to the manager, Callie. Unfortunately, her response was far from satisfactory. She seemed unconcerned about the recurring issue, as this was the second time in three months that a large party of mine faced a similar problem.During our conversation, Callie offered compensation in the form of a round of drinks or appetizers, which would have been appreciated if I hadn't already paid for these at the bar during the excessively long wait. Despite my calm and respectful demeanor, Callie showed a surprising lack of willingness to address the recurring problem or enhance my experience as a loyal customer.In conclusion, this experience has left me feeling like nothing more than a number rather than a valued patron. The Top has failed to live up to its reputation, and I am thoroughly disappointed with the lack of improvement and consideration for loyal customers. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to The Top anytime soon. Special thanks to Felix for his efforts to salvage an otherwise disappointing evening.
