We were late for our reservations due to traffic and the line for valet so leave early and if you’re late call. Tara was our server and she was wonderful. The Gancia Moscato d’Asti was so delicious and so were the scallops. The Brussel sprouts with the bourbon bacon jam is really good. I’m not a fan of pimento cheese but the Mac n cheese was surprisingly delicious. The mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection. The lamb chops were very tender, the lobster tail and salmon were good. Definitely would come back.

My wife made reservations for last night for my birthday dinner. We had never been to Cowford but always wanted to try it and compare to others we've been to. When we were being seated we were taken to a row of tables against the wall downstairs. We asked if we could be seated on the second floor in a more intimate setting for my birthday dinner and were told it was full and had to sit on the first floor bar area, we complied. In the opening conversation with our server explained how slow it was tonight probably due to poor weather. How is it so slow yet we couldn't be seated in a more intimate upstairs area? Very disappointing. Our server was good and food was better than average but the downstairs dining atmosphere and experience will probably keep us from coming back.

The rooftop scene is amazing. I would go back there anytime for the drinks and atmosphere. I had the roasted seafood tower that comes with two crab clusters, oysters, several shrimp, and 2 large lobster tails. The food was a little cold when it came out but it was good. Also, I had a side is Brussel Sprouts and duck fat cornbread. I have never heard of duck fat cornbread but it was amazing. It had crab meat and lobster in it. Make sure to get that as an appetizer!!!! My server was knowledgeable and great as well.

I booked our 38th anniversary dinner 3 weeks prior to last night. Two days before arrival, I received a call, confirming our reservation and letting us know that the rooftop bar would be closed at six. We arrived at 5:20. Upon our arrival we were informed the rooftop bar would be closed in five minutes. We were disappointed, but hurried quickly upstairs to partake in the beautiful view and order our cocktails. Bar service was amazing. Cocktails were wonderful and when we asked about the five minute closing, we were told no the bar would be closing at six. We were a little confused, but sat down to enjoy our cocktail. Five minutes prior to six a young lady came up to get us for our table. We thought we were heading down to the dining room for dinner, however we were told no we would be sitting on the first floor in the bar area . I was disappointed and I let her know that I had booked the reservation three weeks ago and I didn’t understand why we were not sitting in the dining room. I was told the dining room was booked, and there was no room available. We were taken to the last table closest to the busing center of the bar and sat for our meal. Needless to say, the environment was not romantic and it was not quiet. We felt like we were eating in a cafeteria. Motion never stopped because our table was located next to where every server in the place picks up drinks, organizes their paperwork, and the kitchen door to deliver food to every other table in the loud and bust bar. I was very disappointed. I don’t know what it takes to get into the dining room but I felt like if you make a reservation 3 weeks ahead you should be sat in the dining room and not the bar area. When leaving I went to the front desk and shared my disappointment again and was told the next time I make a reservation I needed to let them know I wanted to sit on the second floor dining area. After dwelling on this for awhile I want to know why the reservation tool doesn’t ask this and allow for this if it is in fact the requirement for quiet dining??It’s a shame the front end was so disappointing, the behind scene food prep was amazing!! Bravo to the chef and all of his team. You shine. Now if only the front end could shine you’d have a great program. I was disappointed the environment did not meet our expectations.

I booked this for my birthday dinner and I feel like they took it upon themselves to give me one of the best seats in the house. We were right next to the window to see the beautiful sunset and that’s the tone in the background. The food was perfection. Not a single thing I would change. All alcoholic beverages had the perfect ratio of flavor going on. You can absolutely melt into full relaxation because you will be taken care of. Looking forward to the next time I’m in Jacksonville because I will absolutely visit again

Rarely does reality rise to meet reputation, particularly in this day and age. Cowford Chophouse manages to exceed even the loftiest of expectations. The service is tremendous(especially with Misty), and the food, phenomenal!I’d recommend it to anyone!

Food was good, our server seemed a little flustered but I understand it was busy. I just want to say Jake from valet and all the valet was really amazing, they recommended dishes and talked to us about our experience honestly he was more informative than our server. I felt as though I should just give pointers to him

All in all, a great experience. Service is impeccable and food is spectacular. You pay $$$$ for the rib cap but it is well worth it. I always get a bone-in ribeye and this time was no exception. My husband got the rib cap and though his portion was half of mine, the tenderness and the flavor was amazing. It was truly melt in your mouth. After a bite of his, I felt like I was chewing my rib-eye for years because it didn't melt the way his did. Risotto was just a tad too heavy for me though, that was the only downside.

My experience went from being what could have been a great night to just pure disappointment with the service.I also want to clarify that my bad experience at this restaurant had absolutely nothing to do with the food, in the contrary . The food was 10/10 best food in Jacksonville . Shout out to the chefs because we were left super satisfied but the service was terrible.I made reservations to this restaurant for me and my husbands 20th year anniversary. We are from out of town so I wanted to do something special. We arrive to the restaurant and was impressed by how elegant and radiant the place was . We arrived at the time of our reservations and got seated pretty quickly which I was very happy and thankful for because we didn’t have to wait long at all. Our server came to greet us and she was so kind and friendly . The night had started out pretty amazing then things started to take a turn .We had another young lady taking care of us which I got the impression that she might have been another server or maybe a busser helping but this girl was very rude and clumsy and she wasn’t very much of any help in my opinion. For starters we order the Duck Fat Cornbread and the Crispy Fish and Oysters. We had asked this girl to bring us some extra side plates and napkins, She said okay and left our table. 7 minutes go by and we see her walking the floor and looking at other tables and not even acknowledging us . Our server came moments later and we asked her for the extra sharing plates and napkins and she got it for us. My husband ordered drinks and I just had water. Many times my water was not refilled but I would see this girl walking the floor with a pitcher of water filling other tables waters but not once acknowledging our table . She refilled my water one time and that’s because my husband had to call her over and on top of that she spilled the water all over the table. I just told her it was okay because I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. After this our energy level was starting to go down because it was a hustle to get anyone’s attention but we kept going .For dinner I ordered the Wagu and my husband ordered the Porterhouse . They both came out looking stunning and we were enjoying our dinner . I later took a pause and went to the ladies room and upon my return I see this same girl who has been ignoring us all night, hasn’t once came to our table to ask if we needed anything, or even to refill my water picking up my plate of food . My husband wasn’t fast enough to tell her that I was still working on it and As I go and tell her , she stacks another plate on top of mines and mushed my food . At that point I was over it. I didn’t want to order anything else and I just wanted to leave. This girl made our night super unpleasant and overwhelming. We asked for our check and I asked our server what was the name of this girl. The name she gave me was Rachel . I believe a behavior like this should be discussed with this employee or she needs to be retrained.I wouldn’t want anyone else’s special night to be ruined by this kind of behavior. Other than that we are definitely giving this restaurant another try the next time we are in town . Hopefully they don’t put her in our section.

I want to make this clear up front the food and drinks were delicious!!! But we made one mistake we decided to eat on the rooftop. The service from when we arrived to when we placed our order to when we got our appetizers and drinks was great but it went down hill from there we never got checked up on or advised that the kitchen was behind. We waited 30+ mins to get our entrees and felt like they forgot about us. If to return I would stay downstairs and enjoy their delicious food!!

They sat us promptly. Restaurant 2/3rd full. Cocktails were mediocre. Streak was good but nothing exceptional. Couldn't have asked for better service though. Free dessert for birthday was a nice ending. Overall a good experience.

We we're disappointed when we found out the rooftop (reason why we went so early). So, we sat at the bar and were very pleased with the variety of drinks, appetizers and prices at Happy Hour. The service at the bar sucked! How disappointing... the lady was engaged in personal conversations totally ignoring my empty glass. I had to push the glass towards her for her to notice. Then we asked for a picture and was the worst picture we have ever had taken for us, not to mention she only took one. The appetizer and drinks were excellent though... Now, Christopher at the table was excellent!!! Nice, funny, respectful and very helpful! Food was good but not impressive. We'll be back; hopefully get a different bartender.
