I used to go to a different spot for Trinidad style cuisine for a long time and then they closed down and i tried a few different places around the area and the food either wasn't good or the place wasn't clean.

Then i found Shalama's and I've been back there at least 20 times since and every single time i go there the place looks extremely clean and the food is always prepared fresh.

This is actually the first place i have ever had a doubles fresh from the oil.

I will continue to come here anytime i feel like a taste of back home.

I seriously never understand how small businesses DENY service to people who are willing to patronize them. I came in at 6:30 enthused to try something new and I was essentially rudely told to go away. Horrible customer service.

Don't be fooled by the modest and humble appearance of this neighborhood restaurant. The food here it's always hot, ready and full of flavor. If you haven't tried Trinidadian Curry before, do yourself this favor...
I ordered the beef curry with dahl / rice & a coke for just $16...
Nothing else comes close to this quality for the price...

Taste of home. Real deal Trinidadian food. Always fresh, always delicious. Been coming here for years, and the food is consistent. Buss up is first come first serve so be sure not to miss out. Doubles are mouthwatering. Vegetarian options are also very tasty. Usually the wait time to place an order is adequate. Lunch time is always busy. Still worth the wait in line.

The best Roti and Doubles spot in South Florida right under my nose and I never knew. Everything is fresh, seasoned perfectly and not oily or salty. The service is great and the wait is never too long. Tons and tons of free parking in front. Note they are closed on Mondays. Dine in or take out. Cheers ? to another fabulous eatery! We tried this place on recommendation of a Trini thinking the doubles would be better than Tabanka trini kitchen and it was not.

The tamarind and shadow benny sauce were very watery and so was the pepper. They didn’t have cucumber. We had to doctor the double at home With a spicy tamarind chutney and mango achar to add flavour.

The chicken pelau was ok.

Also had raisin slice and pone. we’ve had better. Sorry not a repeat for me.

The best doubles I’ve had in the area. The aloo pie is good also. highly recommend and workers are always nice and ask what I would like on my double before they make it.
