Crafted cocktails, personable Cantineros, exceptional customer service. Gourmet traditional food made with care and pleasure. And the music.......0mg. Do not miss this landmark if you visit South Florida! Is worth every minute/penny.
Great food and great atmosphere! Last night was my second time visiting and it did not disappoint. They have taken all the necessary precautions to make you feel safe while eating out in this "new normal." I definitely recommend!
Love love love! Was so so happy with how they have handled the reopening since Covid19!! I felt so safe and relaxed. From the moment you get there they have you wait outside, sanitize your hands, and walk you to your "zone" where you are 6 feet apart. Each table, as you can see in the photo, has its own marked space. Plus, they have QR menus! Hands free = yes from me! The food was delicious! I will say it's expensive. I'm sure it's more worth the money when the atmosphere is it's usual busy and vibrant self. That being said, I don't regret coming! The pork, chicken and rice, and churros were so good. Classics made right. My favorite part!!! The DRINKS! Absolutely incredible. I was insanely obsessed with the guayabera. It was like a spicy margarita, but way better. I'm definitely going to be coming here for drinks again.
What an amazing post-quarantine dining experience! I will say we really enjoyed having a date night here after months of no restaurants. They check you in at the parking lot (yes there is parking) and greet you at the door with hand sanitizer. The tables upon entry are all marked and spaced for social distancing. We got an amazing table with a view of the Live-music, but keep in mind we did make reservations a few days ahead. First let me say, this is the place to stop for a cocktail while at Calle Ocho. Every drink we had was amazing. My personal favorite was the Hotel Nacional which had a peachy vibe so sweet and yummy. So as second-generation Cuban-Americans we were ready to judge these dishes lol. The Croquettas de Jamon were absolutely amazing. Among the top croquettas that I've had honestly. The Snapper was absolutely delish - so juicy and crispy and that avocado sauce they serve at the bottom I basically licked off the plate! My boyfriend has the lechon and it was plenty juicy and flavorful. We ended the night with dessert (as we always do) and got the Dulce de Leche Lava Cake. This was probably my only slight disappointment. It was good but not amazing. I would have preferred to try Michy's Bread Pudding as that is a staple of the restaurant. Overall I really loved this spot and want to take my boyfriend's Cuban parents here! Hopefully after COVID has passed we can dance along to the live music.
What a lovely post-quarantine experience! The food tasted like it was made with love, our waitress Evalyn was sweet, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu and drinks. Our friends were impressed by our selection on the restaurant and as were we. From the beef empanadas which were fire, to the ropa vieja and the CHURROS!!!! everything was delicious we will definitely be back and recommend friends.
Cafe La Trova is incredible. When phase 1 of reopening was issued in Miami, I (like many people) were worried but also dying to eat out after 2 months of quarantine. Cafe La Trova completely put me at ease. From the moment you are greeted in the parking lot to the moment you leave the restaurant, everything felt clean, cared for, and the dinner was just as quality as it was before the pandemic started. This restaurant has done a fantastic job and taken all of the recommended social distancing measures and more. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a great meal, great music, and a comfortable setting as we all ease into a "new normal."
I am very pleased with our experience at Cafe La Trova. Our event was planned about a month in advance. The manager kept in touch and made sure all my questions were answered in a timely manner. The day of our event, we were about ten minutes behind schedule. The restaurant accommodated our delay and the service was excellent. The food presentation was beautiful and did not disappoint in flavors. I personally have an allergy and they made sure my food still looked beautiful and tasted delicious. The ambience was fun but not too crazy. My favorite part was the presentation of desert as the staff came over with sparklers, singing and celebrating my sister. The live band was amazing! We will definitely come back and recommend this restaurant to our friends and family. Thank you Uliz for the amazing experience.
What a good surprise!
This is so far the best restaurant, bar, live music venue in calle 8, food taste great, service is good, ambiance delightful, warm and cozy, fun. I went 3 days on a road becouse it really catch my attention. My friends has the same opinion.
Our fav local restaurant. Great food, fantastic atmosphere, awesome service, and the best cocktails in Miami!
Great happy hour and live music after 7pm. highly recommended
Had amazing time . Loved place and food was excellent
Great band, great music, great vibe - if you don't mind LOUD. I don't mean that in a bad way - if your intention is to come for a catch up/conversation then this wont be the place because you can hardly hear the person right next to you. However, if you just want meal, drink, a lively party-esque ambience with less conversation then this is perfect. You defo get a Cuban-feel and so I would recommend taking fam/friends from out of town here. This place was very busy yet the staff were attentive and friendly. Starters - Best empanadas I've had in Miami (beef, chicken & corn). The pastry was more crispy and flakey than the usual floury ones you get. Maybe it's my Indian side wanting a good old samosa and this came a little bit close to that. Paella croquetas - crispy casing, good filling, no complaints. Entrees - Banana leaf steamed local catch - it was good ... not memorable. Also mine was missing a banana leaf lol. So I guess it's only steamed and not also served on a banana leaf. Fried snapper - just a bit too ... fried!? The whole thing was just a tad chunky and usually size doesn't stop me finishing off a whole fish but I couldn't finish the whole thing and didn't want to either. In hindsight I wish I'd shared this with a friend and had half of something else to try ... maybe I'd have enjoyed it more. Desserts - Banana tres leches and Flan I think I preferred these to my meal, not too sweet or heavy. Mind you we shared just one of each between 3. Was the food the best Cuban I've had? No. Best Cuban vibe? Yes - so far! Would I come again - yes, with visitors.
Such a nice cuban restaurant. We enjoyed everything from the drinks to the food, live music and excellent service. Very recommended!
Fabulous, authentic, Cuban food & atmosphere. The staff are so friendly & the service is exemplary. No visit to little Havana would be complete without a visit here.
Spinach and feta croquets were outstanding. Red snapper was the best fish I ever had! The bread pudding was also perfect! This restaurant got it right all the way around.
The food was delicious. The staff are terrific. The yuca pork dish was a bit too salty for my taste. Be sure to order the tomato salad, fried cheese, flan and black beans. Free parking in their own manned lot at lunch. I loved the ambiance.
Hi there! So many amazing compliments. We're always glad to know our guests are amazed by our food. We can't wait to see you back soon!
This seemed to be one of the best new Cuban places in Miami so we decided to check it out. Ambience is exactly what I would imagine Havana to be. The chairs and silverware are all slightly mismatched (I thought that was quaint). The band actually started playing at 7 pm for about half an hour or so - adds nicely to the experience. The service is attentive and friendly. For the food, we had the set meal (appetizer, entree, and dessert) for $39 - I thought this was an excellent deal for Miami. Btw my husband and I, we shared the jamon serrano croqueta, steak empanada, ropa vieja, arroz con pollo, the bread pudding, and banana tres leches. The apps came out super fast. I thought both were delicious. There was a slight lag with the entrees, but I think was just because the apps came so fast and furious. The chicken in arroz con pollo initially was one of the best chickens I have ever tasted... BUT then I got to the second half of the chicken and it was overcooked and dry. The rice was good, but the inconsistencies in the chicken was disappointing. The ropa vieja was good in texture and flavors but overly salted. Mixing with the rice and beans improved the saltiness a little but I think they should not expect customers to do that. The desserts - the bread pudding is to die for. The tres leches is ok. Overall I would recommend this place for a nice Cuban experience.
This place is Great! Me and my husband loved it! The food, drinks, music, and service are all 5 stars! We had the honor of meeting Davide who showed us all the restaurant and took great care of us!
Hi Agnes, thank you so much for your kind words! We hope you can join us again for more amazing Cuban food, music, and drinks.
Great restaurant with fun decor and a great atmosphere. The monitors were absolutely amazing. My coworker and I both had empanadas (I had chicken/sweet corn and steak and she had the veggie). Additionally, she had the fried cheese appetizers. Neither of us could quite describe it but we loved it. She also had the spinach and feta croquettes which were very tasty as well. The only issue was that we were too full to order a main course and when we said that we both felt a little bit shamed by the wait staff. But we would certainly give it another try.
We're obsessed with this restaurant!! The food is incredible, the staff is super welcoming and friendly ANd they have live music. They do happy hour daily, which is awesome. Deals on Cuban sandwiches and incredible drinks. You think at the end of happy hour that it'll be super easy to grab a table but right at 7 pm this places fills up! People of all ages gather around the bar and the stage. They're dancing, drinking, eating and having the greatest time. We came here for my Dad's birthday and the staff went above and beyond. They put a welcome sign up for us. This is a spot that we try to go to once a week now. The ropa vieja is incredible but the portions are massive! We normally split a few appetizers and then split the ropa vieja or another entree. The fish wrapped in banana leaves is on the lighter side for the entrees if that's what you're looking for. Definitely make a reservation if you're looking to go for dinner! Otherwise, show up during happy hour and grab a spot in front of the stage before the live music starts!
We're glad you enjoyed your experience at Cafe La Trova. We also recommend you to check out our happy hour specials and recently launched Sunday Brunch.
What a great time! We ate the garbanzo beans, tuna carpaccio, short rib and steamed fish. All four dishes were excellent. The bread pudding for dessert was indulgent and tasty. The daquiri was perfect. The music was great! Such a fun lively atmosphere with couples dancing to the band, and time for conversation between sets!
We went on Sunday and the atmosphere was great . Chill , live music , great drinks and great vibes . The spinach and cheese croquets with orange mermelada and the pudding dessert where top down my very favorite .
Wow the fantastic evening I had at this amazing place. Live Cuban music. Super cocktails list. Amazing menu created by Chef Michelle Bernstein ( a master SoBe chef) beautiful place decor and everything is manage by the master craft Cocktail Julio. If there was an option to score this place 10 ⭐I would. Perfect friendly staff.
I was blown away by Michelle Bernstein's spot right in the heart of little Havana. You walk in the door and are greeted with a gorgeous bar, delicious havana inspired cocktails, and live music and dancing to brilliant musicians. The menu is superb. We were able to try a lot of items. I loved the grilled octopus and ceviche appetizers. Both I would definitely order again. For dinner we had the braised short rib which was served with delicious vegetables and a yummy white sauce. Finally for dessert, Bernstein's bread pudding was to die for. What a fabulous atmosphere and restaurant, I can't wait to go back!
My friend loves this place. So, we all went out to celebrate her birthday the other day. We were a bit early for our reservation. We decided to grab a few drinks at the bar. Drinks were unique and some cocktails come out on the sandal! Inside the restaurant was decorated like some corner of town in Cuba. It's very cute and nice. 8 of us sat together and ordered different things. We shared each other's food and we loved our food. The prices are a bit high but if you like good food and good music, you should give a try !
The drinks were delicious! There was a live band and the vibe was awesome! Would definitely come back again. This was exactly what we were looking for!
We're incredibly grateful that you took the time to leave us this review. Cafe La Trova values guest satisfaction as top priority and we're committed to serving high quality food and drinks. We look forward to serving you again!
This Cuban theme inspired restaurant bar in calle ocho is a fresh new twist to the modern Cuban /Latin cuisine. The outside of the building does not speak the experience until you step inside the restaurant and face the bar. The place has an old school 1940's bar where you can have classic or house made cocktails. And the back of the restaurant has a 1980's Miami bar. We had out of the lunch menu the jamon serrano croquetas with fig. Definitely a must. Also the steak empanadas and the calabaza empanada. Then ordered the ropa vieja dish and the pork with yuca. For dessert we had the bread pudding and the tres leches. Bread pudding won! Everything we tried exceeded our expectations. From the presentation to the flavors in the food. This place is NOT your typical Cuban corner cafeteria. It is what Miami needed all this time.
Food is ok. Tastes good but the servings are tiny and the price isn't. Ambiance is great, a lot of fun, live music and lIvely.
What a crazy cool place!!! Best cocktails in Miami in my Opinion! They definitely know what they are doing. You know how expensive Miami is, but this place an affordable happy hour! We had their mojitos and some signature cocktails. They do close a bit between lunch and happy hour/ evening so be aware. We just walked next door and ate while we waited. Totally worth it! Just walk through little Havana and check out the cool parks and art!
Visited on a Sunday evening expecting a quiet night but were welcomed in to a busy venue. Excellent staff , excellent food, drinks and live music. What a night we had and not crazy money. Just go as it is definitely worth the trip.
Thanks for the awesome review! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and we’re happy to hear we hit the mark for you. Come back and see us soon!
What a great night! Service, Ambiance and Food were amazing! Chris was our server he was fantastic! Staff knows their craft and takes pride in working there! Highly recommend and will go back! Hope it stays fabulous
You’re the best, Beatriz. Thank you again for sharing such a positive experience. It means the world to us!
I was looking forward to my second visit to La Trova,I was back in Miami for business so I brought a business client on a Monday night who had never been there yet, I went on their website and also on google to make sure they were open. We showed up at 9 pm, got greeted by the hostess, when we told them we were going to the bar they told us they were closed for a private event. Big disappointment! We were looking forward to it, but no signs either on the front door or website that they were closed for a private event today, I was very embarrassed with my client. I will never come back as much as I liked it on my first visit.
Be ready to dance, drink, eat, and impress anyone you invite with a good time!
