I'm honestly starting to think that the people who leave reviews are friends and family members, because the food wasn't all that. It was just ok. NOTHING spectacular! (And I'm a born and bred Jamaican, so I know what good Jamaican food should taste like).Or maybe the people who leave the reviews just can't cook but their food is just ok. Nothing to wow over.

I've been visiting this place for years. Authentic Jamaican cuisine. Good food and friendly service.

Everything is 100% good home-cooking. Fresh thyme used. Steamed cabbage with that hit of coconut oil which I'm always craving and a curried goat with certain bites bringing some serious heat from what i guess comes from some scotch bonnets. Oh and don't forget the perfectly cooked fresh side of rice and addictive red peas soup with dumplings. Friendly regulars at the counter greeted me and I had attentive and kind service provided by a nice lady making sure things are running real smooth in the front.

1 of 2 Nicholas Brown                                                                    JOU 1100 12/6/2018 Restaurant Review Located in a small plaza in North Miami at 12985 NW 7th Ave Miami FL, a lot of Caribbean and American food is being served at the Ventura Restaurant. On my way back from Aventura hospital thinking about about a meal to feel my stomach and some place new I haven't visited yet. Between a dollar general and the banking area at the end of the plaza you can't miss it name in all red letters. Riding towards a parking spot I took out my phone and capture the name on the restaurant several times. Going into Ventura Restaurant for the first time with my dad and sister sat down in our seats, the waitress immediately greeted us with a warm welcome. She was wearing a something casual a button up white shirt and some black pants, also holding a notebook to take our order. The tables were orange and each one had a menu template with utensils already on the table. With the restroom being on the other side of the main entrance. The types of meals offered at the Ventura restaurant are Caribbean and American foods, such as chicken, curry, rice oxtail, soup and different variation of each type of food. All the price ranges are a $ 1-10 dollars which means several good meals can be ordered and enough to fill up your stomach. On that day I ordered brown-stew chicken, rice and peas, salt-fish and call-aloo banana, dumpling with soup also a order of oxtail and white rice to go. All that food together was $30.50 and that's for four people. -More- 2 of 2 My experience was an eventful one as soon as I stepped in the restaurant the waitress greeted us as soon as we took our seat at the table of four. The service was extremely efficient all our food was delivered within the first ten to fifth-ten minutes. Everything was hot and ready served on two different plate and bowl with a glass of water. What stood out to me the most about the was that it gave me a home style feel with the atmosphere and the surroundings inside. The long counter where you sit in and order look liked a bar. Their were collections of Jamaica dollars up on the wall up to a thousand and a refrigerator in the back. With the restaurant being dine and takeout its great for both. As soon as you walk into the area the view is amazing and and lot of companies business cards on the main table. From the view outside to when you pull up to the restaurant their are a lot of plaza's in the area and across the street. All the history none of that's mentioned and that fined because it's not needed. While at Ventura it is noting too fancy and noting out of the ordinary, everything is just casual. I would say mostly island people eat there but it open to everybody 8AM-10PM. The ownership of Ventura Restaurant is under Linda Bowen-Jackson, that's been open since 2005 for about a thirteen year period. From when I stepped in Ventura to when I left I know I would be back at this restaurant because I had no complaints. From the brown-stew chicken to the rice and peas everything was nice and hot, I dumped the rice on a separate plate and poured the chicken on next. The mix just made it that more refreshing and juicy. I've actually came back and ordered the curry goat with white rice which I also recommend  -More- 3 of 3 because you can suck that right off the bone and noting has ever been dry every meal is moist and presents its own since of smell. Anybody looking for a great meal and a mouth-watering fill on there stomach should pull up to the Ventura restaurant great enough to silence any hunger.  -30-

Just got rip off. Charge extra for bacon that was included in my meal. Ask to speak with the owner and was told she was not allowed to give it to the customer or give the owner name.

I have known the owners of this restaurant for almost 30 years. The food has been consistently good and service is excellent. You feel like you are at home and among friends. Many of the same people have patronized this restaurant as long as I have. We are family and look out for each other. No other place like it in Miami.
