My old coworkers always raved about this place so 15 years later I finally got a chance to visit. We were a party of 6 on Presidents' Day for lunch. The place is located in a strip mall facing Cypress Road. It's on the smallish side. The hostess had us wait about 15 minutes while our table was prepared. There are some chairs out front for this purpose. My daughter and I split the fish and chips. My dad ordered the fish roti. Judging by his longing gaze at my fish and chips, I quickly traded with him. The fish was bland but the roti with the curry base and bits of soft potatoes was very filling and tasty! My teenage son ordered the cheese burger and fries and wolfed it down with a root beer. There is a bar with a variety of domestic and imported draft beers on tap. My mom ordered a pint of Bud Light but it was too much for her to finish. The highlight of the menu (IMHO) is the homemade desserts. We all split a caramel cheesecake, a flan and a double coconut pie. Delicious! Our server was a college-age young man who is service oriented and friendly. Two thumbs up! BUT... If you are in a hurry to get a quick bite to eat this is definitely not the place. We were seated for 2 hours. If you have the time and the money, Calypso is an authentic old Florida establishment that is well worth the visit.

Well you don't come to this place for a scenic dining experience but you should go for the food it's excellent. I had one of the fresh fish suggestions blackened and it was perfectly cooked and tasty. Hope to return soon.

Great food at this local restaurant and bar. Much better than some of the larger seafood restaurants. Vacation in pompano beach every June and this is one of the restaurants I will eat. Servers are very friendly and service is great.

First time here. Our friends recommended it and the food and service did not disappoint. I had grilled grouper which was delicious (smaller portion). Our friends had swordfish blackened and it was also delicious. Highly recommended.
Born and raised here but I haven't tried this place out til last night as it's my fiances' favorite spot. Omg! So good! I was only upset I hadn't come here sooner! BBQ curry shrimp, hogfish, tile fish, dbl coconut pie. I will definitely be a new regular ? Inside it is clean and very cute. Allison was our server and she was amazing. She was super friendly and knew the menu so well. Thank you Allison, again!!!

I own a group training and personal training gym across the street from Calypso and it is my go to for fresh seafood, great ambience, and an even better service. Check them out! I recommend it to our gym members all the time for a fresh and healthy meal.

When looking at it from outside, one might reject eating here, but don't let the unattractive strip mall dissuade you. Calypso is a cute restaurant with excellent food and service. Inside resemble a casual tiki bar. It is quaint and clean. You may have to wait for a table, as it is very popular...for good reason. The food is fresh and tasty. The conch chowder is do good, but if you don't like some spice, it may be too much. The ginger dressing on the salad is a must. The fish is fresh and prepared well. And for dessert, if you are lucky, you might get a slice of toasted coconut cream pie....obnoxiously divine! Their key lime pie is wonderful as well. Every year, the first day that I arrive to the area, I dine at Calypso. It is stable, well managed and the food has always been fantastic!
