Very cool place off the beaten path. It was kind of hard to reach the parking due to the landscape. The flounder was fried light and crispy and it was not greasy. Drink menu seem to be a limited, and they only have Pepsi, no Coke. Mac & Cheese was awesome. This is a no-frills dining spot.

I ordered shrimp with baked beans and collard greens. By far the best baked beans and collard greens I’ve ever tried. My boyfriend ordered the Mac and cheese and to my preference it wasn’t seasoned enough or maybe not enough cheese. Other than that 10/10 service and food. Would 100% come

I have been at two Jay's locations. The chicken and fish are cooked to perfection. There are no sandwiches, filets, or whole cooked fish. The staff at both places are friendly and professional. I have always had a positive experience whether eating in or taking out.The baked beans are the best. Fries are made fresh. Greens are very tasty.

Our experience was amazing. We have been in GA going on 4 years now and I have constantly asked coworkers and people I have come in contact with where is the best seafood restaurant. I have been several places just to be disappointed. But! But my husband and I went to the port and we was just reading signs seeing what was around. I looked them up on Google and read the reviews and decided to give them a try. THE BEST SEAFOOD DECISION I HAVE MADE SINCE BEING IN GA! They have a customer for longevity as long as we are in this state. Amazing food and atmosphere and extremely friendly. ?

An excellent stop for dinner. The catfish was fried perfect and the sides were seasoned and tasty. Extremely friendly service. It made for a quick meal but delicious. Kitchen area is visible and was very clean. I'd definitely stop on a future trip.

Ok, so we actually ate at the one on 341. I couldn't find them on maps. You just go in and seat yourself. I got chicken and my husband got fish. It all came out fresh and hot. They do not season either, but it was still hot and fresh. I will go back and try the shrimp. They had great value ketchup on the table (yuk), but I asked the young lady for heinz, and they had some ?. The place was clean also. Just remember, this is the one on 341 in front of Winn Dixie.

Great food, clean facility, friendly service! We stopped here on our way back to FL from NC and it will definitely be our new road trip stop. This pic is of the delicious grilled grouper after I had already devoured much of it. It was enough for two people and tasted so fresh.

This is my first time stopping in at their new location on Highway 341. I was quickly met with friendly faces and smiles and a great attitude. The menu was hard to choose from because there seem to be a lot of good options but I went with the shrimp and scallops grilled with mac and cheese and baked beans for my sides. I'm real picky when it comes to baked beans but these really did the job. The shrimps and scallops were delicious and the mac and cheese was not bad at all. All in all it was very enjoyable and I will definitely be going back again.

THIS IS AN UPDATE REVIEW!!!!!!!They really stepped up.2nd time back since initial review.Total 360 turn. You know it's great if you change travel times to make sure you can make it on time. This is definitely a GO TO PLACE.Thank you to entire staff. We drove from PA all day did not eat anything.Looking forward to enjoying this delicious food.We arrived at 6:45pm we know it was close to closing time which was 730pm and even mentioned that when we walked in, apologized about being so close to time for the to leave. The young lady greeted us with a look as if I'm ready to go home and act like she did not want to serve us.This is our 2nd visit. First visit Tyrone was awesome. That is why he got a $20 tip on 8 piece meal.We live in Tampa Fl area. Big disappointment.Food is AWESOME but her attitude IS NOT.She missed out!!!!

Big Boy Dining Out

Original Jay's Fish & Chicken- Brunswick, GA- 4.5 StarsJust north of the lovely coastal town of Fernadina Beach, FL and a short jaunt over the Florida/Georgia State Line (Hey! That would be a great name for a band...) on the side of the highway sits a nondescript family-owned restaurant by the name of Original Jay's Fish & Chicken. Sadly, after a few hours of research, my editor couldn't find all that much about the people who own and run this chicken shack.Pulling in at 1:30 led to an adventure in the parking lot as the place was packed like the proverbial sardine can. After finding a spot for the Big Boy Mobile, I meandered over to the line and awaited my turn. It wasn't all that long of a wait and at the threat of getting ahead of myself, well worth it.First off, I must comment on my waiter, Tyrone. This guy ran around helping here and there like he owned the place. Amazing service is always a nice treat, especially at what is essentially a highway food stop for travelers (though listening to the gab about, it was evident that plenty of locals also frequented this place).I asked Tyrone for a whole catfish with sides of collard greens, the obligatory southern coleslaw and some mac & cheese to round the whole thing out. The kitchen staff must have been trained by Sir Ramsey himself; they were obviously running like a smooth machine as my order was out in no time (did I mention they were packed to the rafters?). As Tyrone placed my Southern-fried feast before me, the aromas wafting into my olfactory sensors were almost overwhelming. I greedily grabbed my fork and dug into the steaming whole catfish. Wow. What flavor! The dredge alone is worthy of a 5 Star rating, then one has to consider the freshness of the fish as well as how perfectly it was fried. Exquisiteness catfishified! The sides had a lot to live up to after sampling the catfish and while they might fall a wee bit short, it's hardly worth a mention. The collard greens were fresh and cooked properly (though to my taste preference they could have used more seasoning), the coleslaw was real, honest-to-goodness Southern vinegar Slaw and it was superb. The mac & cheese was obviously made in the back with real cheese with cooked-to-order macaroni, again—superb. I know one thing for sure, I will make a trip back up here just to try their chicken. The Big Boy says, “If you are anywhere near this place, do your stomach a favor and for the love of great Southern food stop in! #bigboydiningout #bigboydining #bigboy

Every one is very friendly. Got all of takeout in 7 minutes. Had Whole Fried Shrimp with Collards and Grits. Also got the Whole Fried Catfish with the same sides. Got my husband 4 Chicken Tenders with Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw. He did not care for the mac and cheese due to not enough cheese on it. I loved my Seafood items. I put Hot Sauce on my Collards for a little spice. Grits were delicious. The nicest and friendly staff, plus the place inside was very clean. Thanks for the delicious food.
