We were excited to try this local legend of a bbq establishment. We were greeted by the the cashier saying her head hurt which was apparently from waiting on customers. I played it off and told her I would be easy but she still messed up my order. Not sure how you miss an order of fries vs potatoe chips but apparently her head hurt. All I can say is if the life blood of your establishment makes your head hurt then find a job outside the service industry please.As for the food.... My wife was served a big black hair with a salad. The waitress took back the black hair and returned 10 minutes later with a hairless chicken salad. Might I add that the smoked chicken salad ordered on the salad was best thing I tasted during this visit. My oldest son and I ordered deluxe smoked turkey sandwiches on white. I've never paid $18 for a turkey sandwich on wonder bread that had zero smoke flavor and no sides but I guess we were eating at the St. Simons legend. Maybe we should have visited Larry's subs next door instead for the big footlong turkey with a drink and sides for the same price. So disappointed by the wonder bread smokeless turkey sandwich. The youngest son devoured his pulled pork sandwich which was delicious from the bite I had. The side of fries that were not included with the $18 sandwich were tasty but would have been much better if they were hot and fresh.Parking is limited and you get a good taste of jet fuel from the island run way across the street with private jets taking off depending on your hour of visit. Unfortunately in my opinion, as they have become more popular the quality has dropped and the commitment to customer service has waivered. Pricing has also escalated the value in my opinion but they might not care due to the demand. I will say that the Beachcomber bbq I had the day before was much more favorable and reasonably priced.I love St Simons for all of the local establishment s but they need to keep up the quality with the rapid demand and higher pricing. Hopefully I just visited on an off day...

Very poor service!!! Told the lady at the register that I’ve never been there before. I asked what’s good what’s the best? What do you recommend again? Nothing. GA do better and get rid of all the plastic and styrofoam! My take out order included 3 sets of plastic utensils. It’s take out - I have cutlery at home. Let people decide if they want it. Today my jumbo pulled pork sandwiches were missing the pickles. My bbq chicken looked beautiful, but lacked flavor and salt. My fried okra and fries were cooked in old oil. Never consistent, but so popular. Service always stellar!

Outstanding barbecue and I eat barbecue all over the country. This place has great ribs and chicken!The Pina Coladas are also amazing!
Very underwhelmed. I have had better BBQ in New England. Beef brisket, pulled pork, coleslaw dry. French fries over done. Mac and cheese was good. Outside seating to the left of the bar one could smell the garbage dumpster.
Ate dinner at 6pm 3-14-24. First time customer. Employees friendly and atmosphere very casual. Wife had ribs and I had the pork plate. Sadly was disappointed in both. The pulled pork was very dried out and had to heavily dunked in sauce to try and moisten soften it to eat. The ribs were also very dried out and not tender. It was as if since we were there late in the day the meats had been in a warmer or something way to long and dried them out. The sides were good but nothing to rave about. The couple that were with us had the turkey and chicken which looked better then what we had.

I used to visit this establishment on a regular basis some years back, however, I stopped due to the ribs were becoming more inconsistent. At that time management asked me not to order the ribs anymore instead of asking how they could improve on my order. To be perfectly honest, my experience, was a hit or miss. I decided to give it another try 6 days ago because it was late and I was in the area and I really wanted some ribs for dinner. My ribs were burnt and dried out, and for the pricing and tip, they should always be consistent. My smoked wings were unseasoned and dry as well, the only positive, they were temperature hot. My husband was really trying to eat it, however I noticed the look on his face so I threw the entire meal in the trash. At that time I didn't contact them to make a complaint, I had decided I just wouldn't give them anymore of my money. I have always loved their sweet tea, I was about to order one, however I noticed by the tea stand, there were a pitcher of tea uncovered and customers were over there standing by the uncovered tea, due to the fact that the flu and covid is highly active in this area, I decided it was best for me to pass. The only reason I rated it a three, is because it may be a hit or a miss. This has been my experience.

My husband has been raving about this place since they catered for GSU a few years ago. We ended our trip to Jekyll by visiting. We got there at 11 on Sunday and a line had already formed. Which meant I was about to eat good. The food did not disappoint. We got the sampler and I loved the turkey. It was so juicy and flavorful. The brisket was amazing and the ribs were tasty. I was surprised the Brunswick stew was actually good. I usually hate it at other places. It had a tomato vinegar kind of flavor which right now is my very strong craving. I absolutely loved the vinegar based bbq sauce. Highly recommend giving them a try.
