For a college student of UHM, you've either got the option of dining at Hale Aloha or Gateway when you're near the residence halls. Either option is fine in the way they provide a range of different plates with their buffet style serving. Gateway Cafe is pretty good for dorm food. I enjoy the smoothies they give out in the mornings, as well as the attempts to spice things up here and there with the food. The staff is also wonderful. The guy who makes the omelets in the morning is super funny and nice; the pink hair lady who scans the students in always greets you so cheerfully, and all the other workers who serve the food have such good spirit. They truly enjoy just trying to give the best to the students and it's clear to see. The food always ranges depending on the day/night, but what I'm always grateful for are the build your own sandwiches, the tater tots, the omelet bar, the vitamin xxx water in the soda machines, and just the overall setting of the cafe. Some students may say otherwise, but you just gotta learn to appreciate what's there sometimes yknow. Keep doing what you're doing gateway :)
