I have been going to the restaurant at Kahala Mall. The food here has gone downhill. I ordered the shoyu chicken on cake noodle. The cake noodle was dry. There was a chicken gizzard in the meal! Yuck!

They make their own hamburgers, not that frozen stuff. The orange chicken, fish sandwich, and chicken katsu are good too. It’s a really a takeout place, so don’t plan to eat there.
First time trying L&l bbq here in Hawaii thinking it was gonna be good , but I was so wrong it is way better in California the meat taste so nasty and cheeseburgers too there fries don't even look like the picture. And also the lady taking orders looks so mad and no customer service at all will never have L&l out here again.

Clean restaurant and delicious food! The staff are so polite and kind and she even took my food out to my car to help me out. Portions are large and food is hot/warm. I usually don't like the L&L Hawaiian Barbecues on the mainland but this one is awesome. Will return often.

Although costs went up, I'm happy to say: no hidden charges! Food came out in under ten minutes. Portions are still big enough for dinner and lunch, so just split the difference and it'll be worth it. Keep it up, Waialae!

My friend and I went there because across the street St. Louis drive inn was closed. I ordered a barbecue chicken and chicken katsu 50/50. We waited for our food and noticed this place need to do something about stacking up their boxes. Looked like they don't care about how nasty it looks. The service was poor, don't expect much. Just a lady behind the counter with the energy of someone who just really could careless about this world. But here is why I'm taking the time to write this review. Their barbecue plate was dry AF. Seem liked they recycle their food or something. The chicken Katsu had an weird after taste. The dipping sauce was not the traditional Katsu sauce but instead some homemade concoction to save a few bucks. As I was eating I realized that perhaps I'm eating rotten food so I stopped. I started not to feel well after I ate their food. Later that evening I went to go lay down because I wasn't felling too well. Few hours had past and I felt pain in my abdomen and was light headed. I hit the toilet and had diarrhea and felt like I was gonna die. I quickly had to grab the waste basket under the sick to vomit as well. Yes people I had exploding diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. And for a moment feeling helpless like death was coming. I just wanted to say that food poising is no joke. And that if you go to a food establishment and you don't read the clues. Like the poor ambiance, boxes stacked everywhere like a hoarders dream house. The lady behind the counter giving u weird vibes. Just turn around and walk away. Please do not think that there is a sanitary kitchen back there serving fresh food. There is a reason why you can't see back there in the dark dungeon. Please people stay away from this location. This place is giving L&L a bad name.

The food was fine and it was reasonably priced (considering all the post-pandemic price gouging going on in Honolulu, now). The service was fast and friendly, but the ambiance was non-existent. There were empty boxes stacked up everywhere, taking up many of the booths. They had no bathroom and the AC, soda machine, and ice machine were all broken. If eating with dirty hands (I did have Purel in my pocket, thank God) while dripping sweat into you food and drinking warm tap water is your thing ,this is right location for you. If you want a much nicer setting, I recommend going to the Ewa Beach location. Which is always clean and neat with a clean bathroom.
Food always made to order. Big servings. delicious every time. Small mom & pop style restaurant.

Wanted to pick up dinner. Ordered two bbq burger deluxes and requested it be upgraded to a meal. Employee told me they can't upgrade doubles to a meal. So I asked how can we get the meals? He confirmed that a single patty burger comes with the meal. I said ok, and I repeated it to him to make sure that we understood each other and I said I wanted two single bbq burger deluxe meals. He said ok. Added on a chx katsu plate and side order fries. When we went to pick it up he told my family that we didn't get the meals because he told me double patty burgers didn't qualify for a meal upgrade. I called and asked him what happened. He said the same thing, that I ordered two doubles. I corrected him and and I cancelled our order. I rarely go to L&Ls and with all the restaurants out there with great food and great customer service I won't be going back and encourage you all to put your hard-earned $$ elsewhere.

L&L is a chain but unfortunately this one missed the updates and stayed an outlier which leads to inconsistency delivery quality food. The cook on the foods is terrible often times dry or just not enough of the good stuff (too much batter; not enough protein, etc). also the costs have been rising while the quality drops. The cashier is meh at best. oh they're pawning off the CC charges onto the customer which is some early 00's buffoonery
