I just heard on the news that Megs Drive Inn was closing December 17th, sad to see them go after of serving up great food for over 50 years. Inflation and cost of living takes another iconic Hawaii business. I headed down today to get the Chicken Katsu and the place was buzzing with customers and it was nice to see most of the tables outside taken. The service was amazing as always. Everyone was smiling and in great spirits. I hope to get another chance to visit before they close....read full review
"Not fine dining but fine food- da Kalihi Institution" Sorry to hear that another great mom n pop institution is going to be closing their doors soon. Over the many decades I have had a chance to visit Megs, I have always enjoyed their breakfast offerings and for lunches, their beef stew especially. Megs has been open since 1966. When I heard Meg's Drive Inn was going to close mid-December, I knew I wanted to check them a couple of times before the end. Meg's in on Waikamilo in Kalihi between King & Dillingham, near enough to work. There is street parking and about 4 dedicated stalls inside the lot they share. Although the dining room is closed, take out is available and they have a small outside dining area. They also have two ordering stations, one inside and one outside.
