Took my wife there for her birthday and the food, atmosphere and service was amazing. I highly recommend Otoro's Hawaiian Fusion!

Best place near Waikiki service and food is amazing!!!

My BF made early rezzies at 1730 . Valet parking right next to the restaurant. It was free so we just tipped the valet guy! We were the first ones there so we chose to sit at the sushi bar. Sushi chef was nice, service was great. Waitress checked in on us frequently. We didn't know they had omakase, if we knew, we would've mentally prepare for it. Lol. We decided to go for the sashimi platter, which was YUMMY! We each got their house hot sake (9pz for $9. Yah, we didn't want to share ) and it was goood! Calamari appetizer was another dish we had. It was $11, small portion for the cost but it was still ono! The waitress said they had a promo so we would get 20% off of the entire bill. Sweet! Maybe we should've done the omakase? We will definitely come again. The place picked up as the time went so good idea to make rezzies!

This was my first time for my friend's birthday . Atmosphere was nice and service was EXCELLENT! Waiters so friendly and checked on us regularly. Parking is Valet only in the apartment building next door from what I saw. Food was excellent... we ordered the Sashimi Deluxe platter ( doesn't have Otoro) $68, 3 rolls (spicy tuna, dragon and crazy salmon ) , tofu salad, salmon skin salad, NY steak, Hamachi kama and salmon kama...kind of a lot for 5 of us. (One suggestion though would be nice if our waiter knew all the sashimi on the platter. We asked him what was 2 of the fish & he wasn't sure. He did find out from the chef though. ) Drinks were good , but no Gin or Vodka for mixed drinks. My friend couldn't get a gin and tonic. They had beer on tap. My friend had Asahi and we shared Sake. They do offer free hot tea and it was really good. Seems like they are trying to figure out the menu pricing because my friend said it was different from the previous month she was there. No biggie that they increased the prices because they took 20% off the whole bill. The server didn't mention that to us so it was a pleasant surprise to see that at the end. We ordered a lot anyway, but they should mention it from the start because that's a great selling point and could mean 1-2 more dishes ordered per table if people knew that. We had green tea ice cream at the end which they comped for her birthday. I personally thought it was good but everyone else didn't. They said weird taste. They didn't rush us and brought the check only when we asked. Restaurant was about 70% full on a Friday night. Overall experience was pleasant and great!

The food here is great! The seafood is fresh and prices are very reasonable.

I went here for dinner with some gfs. This place currently has everything 20% off the menu so they told me they did away with the happy hr menu. We ordered the flambé steak which was fun because it came on a hot stone grill and they lit it on fire. We also ordered a California roll, Agedashi sushi, and a fried ice cream for dessert which was their half order that came with 3 deep fried ice creams in battered ball sorta like Andagi filled with ice cream. Food was pretty good and service as well. Parking is bit tough here but they do have a small lot right next to the restaurant that is valet only so make sure you have some cash to tip.

Great food. Excellent service.

We got a gift card from a friend for $40 so we decided to give it a try. Pleasant atmosphere nicely decorated and comfortable. The food was a bit pricey for what you get compared to other sushi restaurants. We ordered nigiri sushi each order had two pieces. We ordered our usual two order each; Otoro, uni, amaebi, salmon, hamachi, uni, king clam. $216. Sushi was ok, a little pricey for what you get.

I have to say I really wanted to like this place. It's new, it's Japanese (I LOVE Japanese food), the decor is cool, the sushi bar is front and center with the chef standing there ready to make whatever you can think of, the food itself is actually pretty good... ...but the service, or should I say lack thereof, KILLS IT ALL. I dined here a couple days ago for my birthday dinner and I was so excited to try it after seeing the reviews and pictures. We made reservations, but there wasn't really a need as the place was literally empty with only us dining there. We saw a table on their way out so we weren't deterred by an empty Japanese restaurant...something that usually has me turning around at the door because who knows how fresh that fish is, right? We ordered a bottle of sake (I was carded and my ID was scrutinized, extra star for that). We then proceeded to order dinner...a couple orders of engawa from the chef and uni pasta ($28) and the sashimi deluxe ($49). The waiter (young boy with glasses and dyed hair) told us that they were out of abalone, one of the offerings in the sashimi deluxe, and that we could substitute something for it. We asked what can we substitute, and he said anything. We went with chu-toro and he said okay. Fast forward, we enjoyed the engawa, the uni pasta was delicious...and we are served a plate with chu-toro. Not thinking anything of it, we ate it while expecting the rest of our sashimi deluxe to come. Mind you, the restaurant is literally empty and the waiter and waitress were off to the side talking story and not paying any attention to the only guests they had. Waitress comes and clears out plates and asks if we want dessert. We told her we still have the sashimi deluxe coming and she says ok. More waiting and listening to them goof off. We see the sushi chef start to pack away the fish for the night and we're confused. We call over the waiter and asked where's our sashimi deluxe. And he just stands there with a confused look on his face. We ask again and he says he didn't put it in because they were out of abalone. *face palm* We explain it all back to him how he offered for us to substitute something for the abalone. At this point, the sushi chef chimes in and says that they're out of abalone, which we are both very aware of. But again, the waiter just stands there with no explanation, solution, apology that he got the order wrong...nothing. We explained that we substituted the chu-toro. Sure, chu-toro probably costs more than abalone, but he said it wasn't a problem when we ordered it and we would have paid more had it been a problem, but it's not our business...we don't make that call. So we were left feeling awkward since the order wasn't put in, he was clearly not going to accept responsibility for that, and instead waited for us to just say forget it. Shortly after, he told the sushi chef he was leaving for the night. We finished the rest of what was in front of us (a few orders of sashimi) and asked the sushi chef for our check, since he was the only one communicating at this point and he yelled for the check to be brought. Waiting, waiting...nothing. We flag the waitress for the check, at which point she asks the chef and he points to the check on the counter to be rung up, which was sitting there all this time. *face palm* When we got the check, we didn't notice it at the time, but they had overcharged us $40 for the chu-toro, but it's only $25 on the menu. Even the otoro is only $35 on the menu, looking back at the menu pics on yelp! We normally brush little things off, but this whole experience left us bothered even into the next day. We took the liberty of visiting their website and sending them a message detailing the previous night's events. No response. All in all, it was a horrible, negative experience. They get their 2nd star because the food was good (I could seriously eat that uni pasta all day) but there are plenty of other places where I c

ONO! This was the first time I've ordered otoro outside of Japan, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
PARKING ON RIGHT/EAST SIDE. I was confused and initially parked in the lot on the left which is for apartment tenants only. Beautiful environment, excellent service, exceptional food. Would recommend the fried jalapeño roll. A new restaurant so new waiters/waitresses but very thoughtful and willing to help. Experienced sushi chefs and finite attention to detail. Owner and general manager very involved in customer experience and going above and beyond to ensure a quality experience. Sashimi and sushi fish fresh and high quality grade. A lot of potential for this up and coming restaurant. Higher quality food than Genki, local hospitality of a small business restaurant, clean atmosphere with a modern design that leaves you feeling satisfied and not stressed like in a busy restaurant chain

Located at the beginning of Waialae below City Mill, I hope this restaurant makes a go of it. There is free valet parking in the small adjacent lot. Nice decor with a pretty fish tank , beautiful wooden tables, and an impressive display of huge Hokkaido scallops with beautiful shrimp next to lots of other fresh looking fish. I would give the food five stars for quality and freshness. We thought the unagi was even better than any we had in Japan. The menu Is quite comprehensive with lots of raw and cooked options. It even includes fish head soup, a favorite of my dad's which few places serve. The combination dinners are generously portioned and I nclude soup, salad and rice. You can get a choice of 2 entrees for $22.50 or 3 for $28.50. I got the 3 choice meal anticipating leftovers for lunch the next day. I got the sashimi combo which had nice thick cuts of salmon and hamachi, the Saba which was salted just right, and the pan fried salmon which I'm sure will be delicious. Part of the reason I couldn't eat my meal was due to all the fabulous ala carte dishes we shared. The fresh Molokai shrimp were fantastically fresh and sweet. Though their gold eyes did kind of look alien like, I had no trouble slurping them up. It was like getting 2 dishes in one since we asked for the heads to be fried after we ate the tails raw. I don't usually like uni pasta because I feel like the pasta detracts from the uni like too much filler. I prefer to get the full flavor of the uni by eating it on sushi or plain. However of all the places I've had it Otoro does it the best by using angel hair pasta and adding ikura to the mix. Service was was friendly and good but there were a few things that kept me from giving it 5 stars. Look forward to returning here to try more dishes!

Im so happy we had dinner there on my recent visit to Oahu (live on Kauai). Ive been watching the commercials nightly on the Korean channel. We did go early 5pm and the service was great! The sushi so fresh and yummy!! We couldn't order as much food as we wanted to since we were 3 older women. The lobster flambe was better than i expected. They best lobster i had in years. Moist and tasty. Cooked to perfection ! I can't wait to go back and try more items!! Next visit... for sure!!

Decided to try this place since it all the food looked so yummy. So today is my moms birthday and when's a better day to go than today?! We turned into their parking lot and what was great is that they have their own valet service! We were greeted and go sat quickly. Our waitress greeted us and asked if we've ever been there before, which we haven't, and gave us a couple of suggestions on their menu that we should try. We ordered: unit pasta (which was recommended), salmon sashimi, chu-toro sashimi, ikura, amaebi, miso butterfish, and a set that came with chicken katsu, chicken karaage, and New York steak. We loved their uni pasta but I have to say all their sushi was pretty good too. And C'mon you can't really go wrong with chicken and steak. The reason why I only gave them 3 stars is because of their service. Their service was horrible! If it wasn't for their good food I would of totally gave this place 0 stars. Our waitress didn't even come back to check up on us, other people who worked there had to check up on us because we had to either wave them down or went to call them! So I called over another server and asked...is there a specific server serving just our table? Or do you folks all help each other out as far as servicing customers, checking back on customers, etc? And he said "oh yea we all help each other out." And that's why service is soooooo crappy! It's because when they all help each other out, there's no structure or system on servicing customers on what they need! Instead of having just one person waiting on our table, which would totally make sense because that one person would know at what point we are on food, drinks, etc. We had to wave someone down to come and check up on us all the time to refill water and hot tea. We waited 15 mins after we were done eating and I had to wave someone down again, to tell them we were done eating and that we needed a box for our food. Ugh it was just bad. I hope it get better because they do have good food there.
