Best food in Windward Mall. Chicken is juicy. Smoked meat is amazing. Good sauces. I hate sweet meat. The sugar level is perfect here. Girl at the counter was super nice.

I haven't been in a while but I'm an og fan from before they were even in the mall. The owner, Robert, is the nicest man and he makes the best ice creams. My top three favorite are the mango (try it with shoyu!), white peach and he used to make a Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream which was my favorite! Not sure if he makes the last flavor I mentioned but if you ever see it, get it! I know he rotates his flavors quite often so check it out if you happen to be at Windward Mall. Support local businesses, you won't be disappointed here!

Tried their triple threat and poke bowl and I was amazed at the portions. Huge! Service was friendly and I'll be back to try their desserts, which is what they're really known for!

Super good food. I wanted everything in one plate so it was confusing for me lol. Good food though and depending on who, they should really count their money well. I had to count for her in how much she needed to give me back for my change and then I was like whatever then I felt stupid cause she owed me a dollar more back. The guy was nice though.

This place blows my mind.... The flavors he produces are out of this world, and the recipes! I ordered the mango li hing shoyu at the recommendation of a fellow customer; she was so enthusiastic that I'd love it that I had to know, and let me tell you something! Holy smokes! Not a combination I'd have thought of, but I would come back for just this flavor, but then! We also tried a combination bowl the owner recommended after I was so floored by the mango shoyu.... Green river and "blue balls". That was the most refreshing dessert I've ever had! The pleasure-centers of my mouth were on overdrive! My girlfriend also got a smoked meat plate to take home for her dad, and I tell you, it is bar none. If anyone tries just one recommendation I make, PLEASE come here to 8 1/2 desserts! You will not be disappointed!

I once ordered their customized sorbet during the lockdown and it ended up being really too sweet. We thought we give this place another try, but the man working at the counter was very rude. When I asked, "Where can I find your prices?" He just stared at me. Well, we found the prices on the side, with no help from him. He then said, "We have a wisdom discount if you're 55 years and older." When I asked, "How much is your discount?" He arrogantly replied, "How much do you want it to be?" and walked away. I'm pretty sure this was the owner. Maybe he was having a bad day because when they first opened, he had a very positive attitude, passing out samples as everyone walked by. I understand business has been tough, but his customer service flat out SUCKED. There is no excuse for this level of rudeness. We're not going back, not giving him a chance. This type of rude customer service does not deserve a dime.

Tried here back when they were in kaimuki, now they're located in Windward mall next to Macy's and Game stop on 2nd floor. For anyone who loves shoyu & mango, their mango sorbet with shoyu is a must try. Yes actual shoyu sauce. This time around I got it with li hing mui salt ontop. My daughter got white peach & mango sorbet, my wife got guava & lilikoi sorbet. Noticed they also sell hot food too. The owner is VERY friendly & courteous.

This wasn't my first time at 8 1/2 desserts, but it was my first time visiting them in this location. Don't let the name fool you into thinking all they have are desserts. No, no, no! They have some delicious savory items as well. For those of you who don't know they are located on the 2nd level at Windward Mall. They use to be right next to Ben & Jerry's near the upstairs bathroom. Now they are right outside of Macy's, still on the 2nd floor. On this visit I indulged in a scoop of their toasted marshmallow flavor and my husband hand the Jolly Rancher green apple. The toasted marshmallow was an odd gray color which turned my tongue and lips black. It also later turned other things that were expelled from my body a weird teal color for two days! Anyway, besides that the flavor was on point, tasted just like a toasted marshmallow! It even came with a huge toasted marshmallow on top. The texture was ultra creamy too. The Jolly Rancher green apple was also very good. It tasted just like the Jolly Rancher candy. The texture wasn't as creamy as the toasted marshmallow and seemed like more of a sorbet. The staff was super friendly and even let us have samples. When you enter there is hand sanitizer and a touch free thermometer that takes your temperature from your wrist, along with a recording asking you to sanitize and check your temperature before entering. From what I was told this is just a temporary location while some renovations were being done on the original spot. Honestly I liked this spot much better beacause it was more spacious and had seating. I will definitely stop by again the next time I visit the windward side but I think I might pass on the toasted marshmallow ice cream. Even though it was extra yummy all that coloring and color changing of body parts and other things, lol, were a turn off.

Who doesn't like ice cream? I saw an interesting flavor which was caramel pumpkin crunch or something like that. The ice cream was super creamy however the crunch part wasn't crunchy. It tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal pieces in it that were soggy but I did like the flavor. One scoop was enough for me because it was sweet. There were a few tables inside to enjoy your ice cream. They also sell food there too. Before entering, you must take your temperature up front at the machine. The ladies working here were very helpful. I would definitely come back only for the ice cream.

Yes, they are still in the mall. They just moved next to Macy's on the second floor. They still have desserts and as well as several different bentos. I bought the Kanak Attack bentos for my son and his girlfriend. Each were $12.95. They ran out of smoked meat but substituted steak. It took a while to prepare the bentos. I saw them using Ninja Grills to cook or warm up the meats. (I have a Ninja Grill at home too, so good!) Sorry but I don't know how the food tastes because I picked up dinner for us from somewhere else. The package was heavy though!
