Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, 92-1185 Aliinui Dr, Kapolei
The Stich Sundae was delicious! It's fresh watermelon with watermelon Dole Whip in a waffle bowl. The line moved quickly and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food. Someone else in my party got the Moana sundae with fresh pineapple. The produce in both of our dishes was fresh and the Dole Whip was delicious. It was a great, refreshing treat.
It opens at 11 am but on a Wednesday when we were there, the nice lady was several minutes late. There’s not much on the menu besides drinks and desserts which surprised me for the only walk up eatery near the lagoon 1. The Stitch pineapple whip with sprinkles is large enough for 2 people to share. I would recommend once to try.
Little Opihi's is located outside on the sidewalk facing the lagoon, so anyone can grab Dole Whip for the beach! The line was long but moves fast considering there is only one person there. Do not recommend getting the white chocolate dipped pineapple quarters...I thought it would be a quarter of a pineapple (in bite sized chunks) but it was just two huge slices of frozen solid pineapple! Super hard to eat and didn't enjoy it overall... The dole whips are good. Next time I'll stick to those and the regular ice cream novelties. Prices are on par with Disney/resort pricing.
Expensive for average food. Lines are always very long as there are not many other options except poolside service, which can take awhile and is also very expensive. Very few options as well
Had a stitch Sunday and it was way better than the shaved ice Mickey ears. I got the mango flavor and to be honest it was way better than the dole whip ice cream. The tiny Mickey sprinkles make it 10x better
They only serve the tourists. What an awful experience for those of us who live here. Wow.
Normally, I love the unique watermelon dole whip they sell, but new policies restrict sales to ONLY guests staying at the resort. I don’t understand how that makes it safer (from Covid) since it’s an outdoor snack shack, and patrons should be able to show proof of vaccination or negative test if that was a requirement/concern. Extremely disappointed. No Aloha here for locals or other visitors. I hope Disney revisits their policy and considers modifying their rules.
Dole whip is hard to beat. Dole whip with a Disney theme is even harder to beat. They have a few flavors here and both are pretty good. They have a few character options, but we went with Stitch and Moana. The dole soft serve is simply amazing and has spread throughout the island. Overall, great place for a quick snack right by the beach.
We have been coming here since it reopened post-covid lockdown for the dole whip while we lounge on the beach. It was great and the kids loved it. However, they just changed their policy and will now only serve guests of the hotel, despite being open to the main walkway. So today, for my son’s birthday, we pass by and go to buy a some dole whip but get turned away. Their reasoning is a new covid policy, yet they served locals before now so this doesn’t make any sense. Que, upset birthday kid. This doesn’t seem like Disney magic to me. Unfriendly to locals and no aloha. I would expect more from Disney
We were here during the kid's spring break. Due to the pandemic, activities and restaurants were limited. The room was nice and clean. If you plan to hang out in the pool area, you need to get your lounge chairs early. If you can't find any, there are plenty of lounge chairs in the beach. I chilled in the lazy river and went to the tubes from time to time with my kids. The service was great but I wouldn't plan to return until there is no longer restrictions to fully enjoy this place. Monkeypod restaurant, island vintage coffee, and ABC store are just across the street.
I have never ever ever been a resort person and most certainly not a Disney person.... until I had kids. Let me just tell you that the hype is REAL! This property is heaven on earth! It is so well thought out and every amenity at your finger tips! We love to upgrade to the one bedroom villa, it gives my husband and I some privacy from the kids. Also, laundry, full kitchen, and the worlds best soaking whirlpool tub! We joined the DVC family after our first hotel stay and have zero regrets, we have been able to bring friends and family and made memories to last a lifetime. Quick note on the kitchen/laundry- there is a Walmart and Costco driving distance so if you have kids snacks dinner or multiple outfit changes. Trust me, you will appreciate this! I love the coffee bar and the spa is one of my favs on the island. Definitely check out the adults only hot tub. The kids activities are endless, the pool parties, chasing menehune, the characters, character meals, pools, lazy river... etc. The lagoons are the best, so calm. The list goes on and on and on. Ok now I miss Hawaii so much. GET THE PHOTO PASS! Find the photographers before sunset and get beautiful family photos!!! The Monkey Pod restaurant across the way is great for dinner off property too. If you have a chance to go, DO IT!
This is a long awaited review from my visit back in March of this year. I was getting ready to move to the mainland and as Aulani was offering a great Kama'aina deal, I had to jump at the chance to visit because I didn't know when I would be able to visit again. This was also a make up birthday vacation as I had to cancel my birthday trip in 2020 because Disneyland was closed. The resort is beautifully decorated to celebrate the Hawaiian culture. The resort itself is impressive. Even during a pandemic with many facilities still closed, the staff made sure to create that Disney magic to make the stay enjoyable. The room, even though was the basic room was large and even though there was a heavy rainstorm on the second day of my visit, I was content to stay inside and enjoy the amenities even though I would have rather gone outside. The lazy river provided a nice relaxing way to kill time while the water slides provided some much needed fun. And if your a pool or hot tub person there are those options as well. Make sure to download the app because it allows you to check in early, make dining reservations, as well as seeing what activities are available for the day. While I was there, I was able to make my own Mickey ears. If you are an ocean person, you have access to the lagoon to go snorkeling. I can't wait to go back in the future.
'Ella chaps! Aulani is Disney's Hawaiian resort, located about 40 minutes from downtown Honolulu. At first glance, the resort is far smaller than one would expect. During covid, capacity is limited, as is the service. Two stars for two reasons. Aulani feels like a resort Disney created to mimic the Hawaiian Polynesian feel - hence it lacks that pure, authentic Hawaiian Polynesian feel. It's a plastic version feeling. Their full service restaurant currently has a set price dinner menu. For approximately $60 you get a choice of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. While service is great, the food is typical Disney. Portions are small, food is meh. Quite disappointing for the price. Then - not to mention while dinner service takes several hours, you only receive two hours of complimentary parking with restaurant validation. Service took a while - so after what turned out to be a $360 dinner (for four) that last three hours -- Disney wanted to charge us $22 for parking. It was such a tacky negative end to what had been a night we looked forward to. There is so much more outside Aulani that will give you a far greater and more authentic experience.
Our one week stay was amazing. Make sure you take one or two swim suits (pack less) then wash them downstairs, yes you can! Walk up to the lobby and ask them for tokens! Or wash before you fly back open 24-hours. The food, lagoon, great customer service and character meet and greets were perfect even during a pandemic. Can't beat the magic of Disney and I have to give it to Aulani for the best family friendly resort in Oahu! Make sure you check in daily to get pool bands and even book an excursion off the property and they will pick you up and drop you off. We did Dolphins and Me. Safe and worth it.
My daughter and I booked a staycation at Disney Aulani for her birthday. I chose the "garden view" thinking it would be beautiful but since I was on the 2nd floor, all we had a huge tree blocking most of our view! From a distance and an angle, you can see an open park but I would not call it a "garden view." I even made sure to mention it was for my daughter's birthday and that it would be a great experience. Overall, we enjoyed the staycation despite COVID-19 regulations. Most people followed the precautions while very few walked around without their masks back to their room! Most staffs were friendly and nice. I expected more but not quiet impress with a few staffs. I paid for my daughter to feed the fish at the Rainbow Reef. We got there 5 min late, and thought I needed to stand in line, which made us even more late! By the time I got to the staff, Jackie, I was told we're late, there's no refund and all I was supposed to do was go up the Rainbow Reef to feed the fish! An apology would be nice too! Even through she wasn't the same person who accepted my payment. I wish the staff who took my payment gave better instruction rather than telling me to come back there! I don't care about the $7 but my daughter didn't get to do 1 thing on her lists during our stay! Overall, my daughter and I had fun! We enjoyed the tube down at Waikolohe stream, keiki cove splash zone, menehune bridge, Wailana pool, tube sliders, and even made Mickey's ear headbands! Would I come back? Yes, but a little after COVID-19 with the hope that the service would be magical like it claims it be, not on one area but for all areas of the Disney Aulani Resort. I do want to acknowledge a few staffs that brought smile to our faces! I want to thank Ryan from the housekeeping, Sachi and Krishna from the check-in service and (Claytina) Tina from the Makahiki restaurant.
