It has everything for anyone's needs that can't get to kahului or have Costco membership. The prices are to be expected because we are a island in the middle of the pacific ocean and it takes about several months for anything to get here. The only problem that I'm sure alot of people express or security tell to these individuals is to the ones (not armored truck driver) decides to wait infront the stores of every entrance and exit and block everything and everyone because they waiting for people shopping! Seriously! You know how many people almost get run over cause cars can't see them trying to walk around you or elderly or wheel chairs can't get by because you refuse to not wait somewhere else besides entrance/exit or cars cant get through to park so you decide to cause more traffic build up and make more problems for people around you and cause domino affects to be parked at entrance/exit waiting for passengers. Your passengers can meet you in parking lot or in a safer location. Everyon has a phone they can call you to tell you they are done to see where you are to meet you there. DO BETTER PEOPLE!

We're from Kahului and decided to check out this Safeway since we were in Lahaina. Never again! Full of tourists, crazy layout of the store, and the deli department should be investigated.I ordered the 16 fried chicken piece combo meal from deli. The worker there (tall, blonde, Caucasian female) was so slow and simple minded. She kept saying we don't have chicken breast I can't give you 16. Idc about chicken breast, I just need 16 piece of whatever fried chicken you have smh. Then I ordered Mac salad. Upon scooping Mac salad she pulled out a hair strand from the potato salad that was nearby. I ALMOST PUKED!! She says "You didn't see that" I told her "yea I actually did and I hope you take that whole tray out!" She hesitated and then said "oh yeah I better take it out now before I forget" like wow!! I was appalled. It seemed like she didn't wanna throw away the tray and that this isn't the first time this had happened. Just seeing how finding this strand of hair seemed ok to her I immediately told her nvm no need on these salad I ordered. This was on a Friday evening around 6pm.And for the fried chicken I ordered, the most hard and stale chicken I've ever tasted. Waste of $22. Never again will be ordering from this deli here. Please do better with the cleanliness and the food at the Deli.

It killed me that they've changed most Safeways in SoCal to Vons so when I saw this one here in Maui k was glad to go in because it used to be my favorite store to go to. I went to Starbucks next door only to walk into this store and find another one. That was funny to me. I gathered some snacks and beer for my stay and I was good to go. I like this store.

Shopped for some groceries here while visiting the island. The store seemed clean and organized. Items were easy to find. I liked that they have a Starbucks inside and I was able to find a Starbucks cup I had been looking for. Score! There was plenty of parking outside as well. We bought some of their sushi to try at home and were surprised at the fact that it was good. I don't usually trust store sushi but this one looked good so we went for it.

This is a good grocery store (its a grocery store). The first thing you have to get used to here on Maui and I'm sure Hawaii as a whole is Sticker Shock. Things cost A LOT more here than on the mainland. That being said, This store has everything I looked for, EVERYTHING! They have a huge selection of product choices. They have an INCREDIBLE selection of wine, beer and spirits. They have a bakery, a deli. They have a coffee shop. The service here is no better than any other grocery store. I found it hard to find assistance a couple of times. So with all that going for them it would be a perfect store. EXCEPT its the best place to get groceries in town and the parking lot cannot accommodate the business. Last time I was there it took me more than 15 minutes to find a place to park. I thought about selling my spot when I was done to offset the costs. But the store is Clean. The staff is friendly and helpful when you find them. The shelves are well stocked. I'm sure I'll go again, just have to pick a less busy time.

We went through line to purchase a very large amount of food with my family and I accidentally mistyped my phone number for rewards points. The cashier would not lift a finger to figure out how to fix it and let me put in the corrected number so I stopped the order to I could get the correct phone number on the second half of my groceries. She was super rude and condescending during this process. I'm upset that I spent so much money here.

Been here a few times during my stay in Maui and every time, I'm impressed with how well stocked and clean it is despite the constant flow of tourists and locals coming in and out. Their local made candies are much cheaper than at the ABC store so I recommend getting it here!

Staying at a condo nearby with a kitchen? Tired of paying to eat out? Forgot to stop by the Costco by the airport and don't want to drive all the way back? (Or maybe you don't even have a Costco membership...) Well Safeway has you covered. It's a good alternative stop for groceries... and I like the poke here. Don't get me wrong - Foodland is a great local option and Tamura's is the GOAT of deli poke shops on this side of Maui, but if I need to grab cheaper groceries then the tubs of poke from the seafood counter are enough to kill 2 birds with one stone. While some poke are previously frozen, they do have fresh options that are clearly labeled. If I just want the typical options like spicy salmon... I get it here. It's good and consistent. The scallop poke is also great with the sesame flavor. Docking a star because the parking lot is a bit of a mess when it gets busy, as there are other popular stores in the area like ABC stores. This Safeway seems to run out of gallon tanks of water quickly... we came late at night when they were restocking, but whenever we stopped by during the day I would notice they ran out, so something to keep in mind.

The workers here are the slowest in all of the grocery stores I've been to here in Maui. Getting in like for one sandwich took 40 mins. There were only 2 people in front of me and the worker took 10 minutes to make one sandwich. There's 4 people working at the Deli counter and it still took us almost an hour from the moment we walked in to walking out. If you're in a rush don't come here.

I like the fact that they have grown in size at this location, wished they carried a few things, one being simple syrup and orange curacao, I mean you have a wine selection that is amazing but you are in a tropical location, you should stock items that are essential to tropical cocktails. The prices are a little on the high side but that is the norm in Hawaii for certain items, like eggs and milk. We hit this a few times every time we come, which is every year. The Longs next to it also has a good selection of items and the little mall next to it has a great HIC store. Parking can be a little challenging. In regards to pricing, it is funny that the Maui Big Swell 12 pack cost almost two bucks more then two six packs at the brewery up the street.
