When was the last time you had a meal that really had an effect on you? No, I'm not talking about the last meal you enjoyed, the last time you burnt your mouth, the last time you had an overly sweet cake. I'm talking about the one that really made you have a paradigm shift in your actual life. One whose area of effect extended beyond the duration you were eating it, that embedded itself into your psyche, long after you had finished it.It's a gradually unfamiliar feeling whenever you get it, because as you grow older, that feeling becomes increasingly harder to find. Mostly because as you grow older, the more you get acquainted with the world around you, that it becomes rarer for you to find something that makes you reflect on it, to take a moment to enjoy it. Like your first bite of Kraft Mac & Cheese, or your first medium rare steak.Today, I enjoyed an extraordinary sandwich from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about sandwiches is a gross understatement. Sometimes a sandwich doesn't have to be a supermodel, laden with decadent, expensive ingredients, to have an effect. I was lost amidst the vast choices as I entered, but was guided through with customer service only Hawai'i could have. Equipped with the submarine sandwich and a cookie, I sat down.To say that a sandwich could fix me is absurd. But as I began my jaw workout of engulfing this tall gift from God, I had a sense of relief rush over me. My jade glasses were washed away, the world was no longer in monochrome. This toe-curling, juicy, girthy, aromatic, hefty sub was no match for my depression, my apathetic demeanor, nor my fatigue. It was a warm embrace on a summer day. A hearth in a snowy lodge. Like telling your friends you love them, instead of hiding it under your day-to-day greetings. For a little while, there were no worries of the past, present, or future. There were no nagging regrets of lost love, or a feeling of being in the wrong place and time. For a moment, I belonged where I was, in that moment. To be niche, like walking down the stairs in 'Hello, Dolly', with the theme song in the finale.Perhaps I was just hungry. Maybe I was going through it. But in this modern world of abundancy, I feel we often forget to hold onto what we find truly special, instead moving onto the next thing, always in a rush. This sandwich helped me remember that there are great things in this world, things to look forward to and to make life worth living, like spending time with good friends. It helped me remember I enjoy looking at the world through an optimistic lens. It reminded me to hold onto the bonds I've made with friends. Just because the vessel for my mental healing was in a sandwich, doesn't make the experience any less real for me.Not as a means of putting an item of monetary value on a pedestal, but to highlight an experience in my day, one that I didn't know I needed. A good meal loves you unconditionally, with a designated beginning and end. Like a soft embrace, but when it's over, there's no anguish, or conflicting feelings, just gratitude for what it was, and who it made you. Maybe I needed a reminder that we can take things that end, and see them as sandwiches. Just because I no longer have it in my hand, doesn't mean I shouldn't have ever gotten it. It is something that changed me for the better for a long time, and fulfilled me until the next meal. I don't regret getting it--rather, I'm really glad I had a good moment in my day, it was enjoyable. Things that end are not things that are bad. The end of a concert won't make fans ask for a refund. The loss of a beloved pet won't make the owner wish they had never gotten the pet. The separation from someone life-changing won't make me wish I had never gone to Lithuania. Rather, like a sandwich, I can look back with gratitude, because I enjoyed it. You have not met all the people, or sandwiches, in your life who are going to love and cheri

The staff is friendly. The food is good. The problem. I paid for giant #9. I was distracted with the cashier, that I didn't see what the person was doing with the sandwich when making it. I asked for some pickles and no tomatoes and mike's way. The problem was everything else. I got NO MAYO and NO BACON!!! On a giant #9!!!! That is supposed to have bacon!!! I had put trust they would make the sandwich right. And this is not the first time. Has happened in other locations to me as well. I came to this one because everytime I came for a sandwich. They made it right and had my trust. Now I can't trust any jersey Mike's place. Training and attention to detail need to better. Guess I'll have to find another location.

Let me start with the fact that I typically love the subs at Jersey Mike's. Especially their cold sub offerings. Unfortunately I just had a poor experience with them. It was really such a minor thing, but it had a huge impact on my disliking my last sub.I can't remember exactly where I heard about their Red Pepper Relish. I think it may have been on TV or a promotional flyer, but it looked good and I wanted to try it. As I was placing the order on my app, I added the Red Pepper Relish to my Original Italian as well as some dill pickles. But then I thought that it might make the sub too wet and vinegary in flavor as I typically order my subs Mike's way which already includes red wine vinegar. I decided to order the Red Pepper Relish and the dill pickles on the side just in case and placed the request under special instructions. When I opened the sub at home I found that they put the Ref Pepper Relish and dill pickles directly in the sub, as well as on the side. My concerns were realized. The sub was a complete soggy mess and all I could taste was all that vinetgarness. I guess I'll have to bypass ordering via the app in the future.

This location really excels… I prefer Jimmy John’s when I’m on the mainland so I decided to try Jersey Mikes and I gotta say, this one may replace JJ’s…Both hot and cold sandwiches are amazingSides and drinks can be pricey but the star of the show is worth every penny…The Bacon Ranch Chicken CheeseSteak is my go to

Recommended dishes: Chicken Bacon Ranch, Large Cookie

Great quality sandwich using fresh ingredients, ready and on time and with excellent customer service (like other reviews, no comparison to other sub shops). If it wasn't so hard to get in/out of this location, I'd frequent it more often.Parking: Can be hard to find parking during peak times (shopping center).

Ordered online and my food was waiting for me by the time I got there. They load up on the fillings and it tastes delicious. Sooooo much better than subway!

First time to Jersey Mikes and had a very bad experience. Got a text message saying my order was ready to be picked up. Was busy so I stand in line but the moving slowly. By the time I got to the register they said my order is ready just had to wait for the last sandwich. Line was still long but moving. I've waited another 48 minutes for my last sandwich. I was pretty disappointed at that point. They were making sandwiches but forgot my last order. I had to remind them and needed to show them my phone to make sure I placed an order on line. I just wanted to blowup after that. Don't want to name them but you know who you are. Two girls in the back just talking/laughing and the one dude struggling on making sandwiches.

My hubby loves Jersey Mike's and swears that it's way better than Subway. He always gets the turkey sub. The service was good at this location. The worker took our order and went to make the sandwich. He went and sliced fresh turkey for our sandwich. He asked us what kind of toppings we wanted. My hubby doesn't like to share his food, but I did get a bite. It was terrific and I have to agree that it's better than Subway.

We love Jersey Mike's... prefer it over SubwA as it keeps in the frig better. One large sub feeds our family of 4 perfectly...

Very good subs, always hits. Hard to find though, the sign was missing. Google maps directed me to the opposite side of the mall. But it’s inside the highlands market.

finally trying this spot, a friend raved about the subs and of course I had to try it out for myself I like the fact that it has a Delicatessen feel to it, as they actually cut the meats instead of meat that's been sitting around pre-sliced. the employees were super sweet, I didn't feel rushed ( as it was my first time and unfamiliar with the menu), I was able to peruse the menu and make a decision - loved the fact that there were various sizes of the subs and I chose a regular size which was the perfect amount for me the Pearl City location is in a nice spot at the Pearl Highlands food court, great lighting and clean when I'm craving a little taste of my hometown of New York City I'll definitely go to Jersey Mikes for a sub
