Best gyros ever. Great ethnic grocery. A little disorganized and disappointed in their change of hours.

Had the gyro dinner with rice (spicy) and side of falafel....... Absolutely delicious. Would get again 5 out of five stars.

Stellar food and service. Incredibly flavorful and the staff was very friendly. The spicy gyro was as good or better than any I've had!

My husband used to frequent Pammel Deli when he was a college student at ISU about 20 years ago. We were traveling through Ames and he decided he was craving a gyro. It was BY FAR the best gyro we have ever had! It was flavorful, juicy, a bit messy, and absolutely amazing! The owner was as friendly as my husband remembers from his college years. As my husband was eagerly waiting on the gyro to be made, I strolled the aisles and found some delicious goodies to purchase. They have such a great selection! We will be back, possibly as early as Saturday because we drive through Ames again on our way home to Kansas City :) Thank you for being such a great store!!
I hope heaven has an international or ethnic-specific grocery store. Pammel Deli is one of my happy places. The food is great and well-priced. The owners are lovely people. The vibes are on point. I keep coming back for the samosas and chai. EDIT: Try the kunafa, it’s delicious.

This used to be a hidden gem, but others have found out how awesome the food is here. I have never had a bad experience and we love this spot for lunch or dinner. I am not embarrassed to say that I can't tell you about their burgers and was puzzled to hear some people ordering those today (maybe their burgers are top-notch like everything else?). This place has amazing gyros, falafel, and other really good vegetarian options as long as plenty of choices for the meat eaters. My wife gets lunch here with coworkers at least once a month and they keep going back for a reason. Don't sleep on the baklava either. When you enter the store just keep heading towards the back and you'll figure it out.

My husband and I tried the Deli! I was thrilled to find Ayran at the store (yogurt drink-blue/ green-yogurt drink with mint). I ordered a chicken kebab dinner, it came with deliciously spiced rice and sauce for the grilled chicken pieces. My husband said his shawarma was well-seasoned and delicious! We did not have time/room for baklava but we will return for sure.

I can't really say anything bad about this place. It is authentic. We tried about all the deli desserts. The Almond Baklava is still my favorite. They are definitely home made and delicious. The lady brings them out fresh as we take them. The deli desserts is what takes us shopping there. What else attracted me was their bulk rice selection and different flavored Naan bread.
