If you only have time for one pizza in Decorah, go to Mabes, a local institution with a unique, square-cut style of pizza you can't find anywhere else. High, Wide and Handsome is more traditional, and excellent as well. The crust is very nice. We had the Sicilian - very good. They have a number of interesting combinations on the menu, we will be back.
THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL PIZZA PLACE. Crust is thin, light, crispy -- perfectly executed. Very creative combos on specialty pizzas. Excellent wide range of toppings. Wanted to try more pizzas: butternut squash, Buffalo chicken, Indian curry(!), much more, but only the one night in Decorah. Will be back. WOW!! Really.

I love this place! Was just passing through town and stopped downtown to find something to eat on Saturday night, tried two other restaurants that both had a longer wait than what we could manage. Ended up going to High, Wide and Handsome pizza because it didn't look very busy. I was blown away by the first rate service, the top notch food, and the cool atmosphere of the place. I don't understand why people weren't lined up outside the door.
