Michel's was a disappointing end to a wonderful day. Food was two stars. Basic and what you would expect from a hotel catered meal for 200-500 people. Steak was over cooked, clams were dry, Caesar was something you could get from a premade kit. Bread was good, but packets of butter...for a French restaurant? Pretty funny. Service was one star. From walking in the door to walking out, it felt like we were visiting an unfriendly Eastern European country...the "France ambassador" plaque adoring the entry should be revisited by the awarding committee.
Outstanding restaurant! We sat at the cozy Hemingway booth and had a wonderful dinner. The escargot and french onion soup were both full of flavour and well prepared. The New York strip and halibut entrees were amazing. Biggest piece of fish we have had in a long time. Service was fantastic, atmosphere inside amazing, and outside looked pleasant as well.
Great food great drinks and a great wait staff
MICHEL'S is a real restaurant, no restaurant is perfect, but they come as close as possible. The food and service was fantastic. We have eaten there for over 20 years, Michel's is were we go when we come toSun Valley.
Yummiest food. Lamb is superb must give a try
Great fire place and overall atmosphere. Attentive staff and excellent menu selections. A first class experience!
This is the #1 place on our list to go in downtown for dinner. French food at it's best. Their goat cheese salad is a must. Their oysters were so big and fresh, I could have eaten it with fork and knife! The meat is cooked to perfection and the chocolate desert is mouthwatering. Not to be missed!
We have dined at Michel’s Christiania many times over the years. It you want a fine dining experience in the Sun Valley/Ketchum area this is one of the finest in an area that has many very fine restaurants. It is our favorite place to go, whether it is for a salad and steamed clams with a bottle of wine on a Friday night after arriving in town or for our anniversary dining on the patio in July. The food, service and wine are all the finest. It has a great location, great atmosphere and architecture, great food and great people from owner, to chefs, to hosts and wait staff.
The reason I’m giving it 3 stars is the food is incredible~ beautiful restaurant~ the people that work there are not friendly!!! We spent 300$ without alcohol and the severs hardly talk to us. Everyone looked miserable!!!!!! We tried to change our time for little earlier because we have a 6 year old and the hostess was so rude and plenty tables were open but she said no. The night we went back it was packed and after insisting we have reservation, a large local Group got seated right away with no reservation. We have been in Ketchum 8 days and everyone is so nice and Restaurants are wonderful~ except here. I did love the food but it almost seemed staff was pissed off at something~ not how I want to spend an evening!!!
Absolutely perfect! Appetizers SOUPE A L'OIGNON LYONNAISE - fantastic French onion soup CARPACCIO DE BOEUF - wasn't put together so you could add as little or as much of the capers and truffle as you wanted MICHEL'S SIGNATURE MAC'N CHEESE - heavenly on a cold night Entrees POITRINE DE POULET AUX MORILLES FILET AU POIVRE VERT ET MORILLES Special was veal Those three will change your life. Absolutely perfection LE BURGER GRILLE AUX TRUFFES We added the burger as a 4th plate for the three of us after hearing from Michel him self and it was perfectly done as well Sean was our waiter / bartender and between he and Michel the owners story's and recommendations it was one of the top dining experiences to date.
Great service.. food was delicious. The Escargot yummy. Ate at the bar.. Just walked in and got a table. If you have room for dessert.. Try the Chocolate Molten Cake. So rich you gotta share.
I was hoping for a fabulous evening of French cuisine... Maybe in the 80's, but I don't think they've changed anything since. Service was fabulous but the food must have sat under a heat lamp and could have been found at any convention center in the country... Dried morels dry chicken and cold string beans. Mmm.
Everything we ordered was perfect. Mushroom crepe, French onion soup, Idaho trout, escargot stood out. Service was excellent as well. If you like French food, you won’t be disappointed.
Recommended by a long time local as a nice restaurant to celebrate our last night & open our $200+ bottle of wine corkage fee $30 , on a 10 day road trip headed back to the bay area...actually sad to leave..the food & service(server spilled a bit of wine) were great, smoked salmon appetizer, salad, steak were amazing! My salmon dinner was average. Check out a bit of ski history in restaurant too (owner was US Ski team coach). Experience french dining in Ketchum!
Slow service but good food.
