As a regular patron of the wine trial, this was my first time going to Von Jakob! I have heard bad reviews in the past from passing people/friends but wanted to experience it for myself to create my own opinion. The wine was terrible, some of the worst wine I’ve ever drank. I had a glass of the Traminette, perhaps the reds are better. The food was good but that is the only good thing I have to say. The atmosphere is not inviting, we arrived on a Friday evening and were not so nicely told that the vineyard side was closing and that we couldn’t sit outside, despite it being a beautiful evening, and had to sit in the new pub area (which is not why we came to a winery…. on the wine trail). Word of mouth spreads far… I hope the best for them and that some changes are made!

Very rude workers!!! I would recommend you pass this winery up if you are on the wine trail. Wine samples are $1 but they told us they were too busy for us to sample the wine. So how so we buy a bottle of wine if we have no clue what it taste like? We walked out and a group behind us also walked out.

2 nd try here and just as bad as the first one. Wanted to see the band they had but customer service was awful. Out of a lot of food items. Tables inside were plastic. Not a good wine trail atmosphere. I would avoid at all cost. Many other/better wineries to visit.

20230926 Feedback from my friend who got the Mango Harbernera Cider... sweet and love the Harbernera. It was a hit!20230906 Drove by on my way to Bald Knob Cross of Peace and didn't to swing by to see if they sell canned beer! Amazing!! They can beer right there!!! Just need to pick any draft beer. 32 oz can starts at $10. I got the Mango Harbernera and Oktoberfest for my coworkers. The General Mgr was very friendly and helpful, unlike some wineries I have been to. Definitely recommend coming by!!

Was in town for my class reunion which was held at Von Jakob. We decided to stay in the B&B as well. Our room was roomy and beautiful. Gorgeous view from the deck attached to our room. Our breakfast was hot and delicious. The venue was lovely for our reunion. The view from the patio is breathtaking. We left with some wine some whiskey and amazing memories.

We stopped as part of a girls on the wine trail. The view was beautiful and a great deck to eat and relax. We felt service could use a little refining. When asking to make us just a random flight their were no recommendations. The chicken tenders and pork missed the mark. The BBQ and German beef were both very good. Several great wines!

Von Jakob winery and brewery in Alto Pass is a must stop on the Shawnee Hills wine trail. Walking into this non descript one story widely spread out building leaves much to be explored. We were invited into this large bar space with ample seating and easy access to another attached large space that had even more seating which led to even another large seating space outside with a view of the valley. Von Jakob offers, wine, beer, and limited bourbon which we were told was really a one time offering, and once the bourbon is gone, that's it. We were only there for a tasting and did pick up a few bottles. I never felt rushed and the host was knowledgeable and offered information on all that was available as the tasting list was extensive. There was no live music while we were there but I would not hesitate to come back for that. A solid experience.

So many mixed reviews on here. Don't let that scare you. This is a HUGE place. Lots of wine and beer to choose from. LOCAL! The pretzel plate was plenty of food for 2! Could skip the Flatbread pizza ( sadly not great) BEAUTIFUL view. Would be super in the fall. Very friendly. And yes I bused my own table..because there were 15 people waiting for wine on a 95 degree day.

Pet friendly? Not very. And rude about it too. Food was awful - grilled chicken tasted like fish ? bun was stale, and veggie pizza was cheese globed on dough - equally bad. Do not offer wine flights. No table service. But expected us to bus our table afterwards. Automatically charge your card $3 for a glass deposit removed once you bring back the glass from outside (see bus your own table) which we didn’t. Outdoor patio was pretty but no umbrellas on the tables on a blistering hot day.

Great wines, food, and amazing entertainment. Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. The surrounding scenery is beautiful from the spacious deck. Worth the drive.

We have been to Von Jakob numerous times and have always had a great time. This weekend we tried their B&B and had an awesome experience. The staff, Dalice and owners where amazing! They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed.
