What a great place for lunch or dessert, or both! Pulled pork and chicken salad sandwiches did not disappoint.

This is definitely a hidden gem that is a must go to! It is set in an old building with natural hardwood floors and a view of the river. Beautiful quilts are hung throughout and the restaurant is meticulously clean! The staff were constantly cleaning tables and keeping on top of everything. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was tender and flavorful. The Turkey Club was absolutely delicious with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. We had the Turtle Pie and Toll House Brownies for dessert which were both incredible. A table near us had carrot cake and it looked amazing too! Our service was also great! Everyone was very friendly!

They were busy busy and sold out of almost all pie and cake. That's how good theirs is. The owner is a beautiful soul and twin sister of the original owner. We only knew this because my son asked if she was the owner, and she let us know her story. This was an opening to the life of a hard-working woman who loved her sister and carried on her sisters beautiful little business.

Lunch was the special of the day. Chicken panini w/pesto/thin sliced tomatoe/cheese sandwich & side of spinach cheese soup, potato chips ranch seasoning & slicled pickle. Delicious! I did not have room for a piece of radical cherry pie or lemon pie or any desert:( Sure was tempting!!!! Next time.Parking: Parking was close to the restaurant. Easy Peasy

Convenient location located in downtown Alton, plenty of parking was available along the street or in the lot. But let's talk about why you're heading here...the food! I enjoyed the daily special and a bowl of white chicken chili, both were amazing! And the desert selection was amazing! I had a slice of cheesecake, but three or four more selections caught my eye. Very friendly and engaging staff, even during a very busy lunch rush. I will definitely be back again!

We have dined here countless times over the years. The last two times were disappointing. We had the small chef salad this last time and it was small. It fit in a side salad bowl. The chicken and ham was bland. The roll cold and gummy. The pie was excellent though.

We were draw in by the nice exterior and the daily specials advertised on the outside of the building.Sorry to say, they missed the mark. The advertisement for daily specials was for the day before we visited. Our food was long coming even though we ordered cold sandwiches and soup. The soup arrived tepid. The chicken salad was very wet with mayo and heavy chunks of celery and green olives. The chicken was cooked well and was very tender. We waited so long for our lunch that we didn't have time for dessert.

Oh my word, stopped in for Sunday dinner - the chicken pot pie special with salad & dessert? SO delicious!! Beautifully seasoned, scrumptious comfort food, & the salad was a lovely & healthy tumble of fresh ingredients. The restaurant has a warm, vintage vibe and everyone was friendly & helpful. This is a true treasure of Alton, and an essential stop if you are visiting...if you live nearby, how fortunate you are!Parking: Easy access, good visibility, free & view of the river.

Our family(5) went for lunch. The old building is great and recommend sitting in the back. The food and desserts were delicious, everything was perfect….except, for what you will pay, the portions are a bit small and over priced. With 3 pieces of pie added to our lunch we spent over $100. We don’t regret going but will not be back.

The new owner has no idea how to keep this once fabulous location fabulous. We had an extremely salty hot ham and cheese fit for a sandwich machine that included an anemic pickle and a small bag of chips for $16.50 as well as a chicken salad fit for a person with extremely low salt for the same price. Also lunched on quarter inch bread pudding for dessert. All together two sandwiches and two desserts for 50 dollars plus tip.....WOW

I received a Gift Certificate for my birthday and stopped by to use it for a lunch. It was what I'd call a late lunch, it was 1 PM. It must of been a busy lunch, because several of the tables were in need of busing and those that had nothing on them, could have used a good wipe down. However, I was still able to find a table, after placing my order at the counter. I heard they were known for their Chicken Salad Sandwiches, so I went with what was popular. I had mine made on wheat bread. It came with a side of potato chips. I'm guessing they were Lay's and they were a good side. For a beverage, I choose plain ice tea. I bet their sweet tea was true Southern Sweet Tea. The sandwich was good, but it did not make my taste buds, dance. I also, thought the amount of salad put on the bread was stingy. It made for a very thin sandwich. However, the slice of Pecan Pie that I got To-Go was top notch. I knew it would be, I order an entire pie every Thanksgiving. The service wan't warm and fuzzy, but it was attentive. As with other restaurants, I assume they were short staffed and over-worked.
