We love Shogun! Always a delicious dinner option. I do wish that this location offered the spicy chicken option that I've had at other Shogun locations, but that's my only gripe.

This was my first and last time at Shoguns! I was fine up until the check. I paid cash and there should have been maybe a little under $2 for my change. It never came out, when I brought it to her attention she said “You want the little change?” I said “Yes!” She brought it back and just laid it on the table I feel like it was spiteful to give all coins and the change still wasn’t correct! I was over it and left before I caused a scene. I don’t what the change would’ve been, bring MY money back or when you take the payment ask if I want the change. Funny thing is I had her tip ready, about $7 but that alone made me keep it. She made it seem like I was wrong for asking for MY money the same way they want their payment for the food you eat. RIDICULOUS! Please do better

I come here only if I absolutely have to in order to pick up food for someone else. Over the years, service here has immensely declined.It is really a shame- you come in to pick up something and the staff either stare past you as if you are not there, or like they don’t know what you’re talking about when you say the name on the order. They never even really greet me, they seem inconvenienced and annoyed when I walk inside.The person who was gathering mobile orders just had them all over the counter—no tickets, no bags, or anything. They bag it up as you get there and pick it up, which doesn’t make sense to me organization-wise. Most efficient restaurants these days that offer pickup do the exact opposite.I’ve also sat inside before, and besides the few times I came in after it first opened, interactions with staff have been either nonexistent when it should have existed, or plain awful. They quarrel and gripe with one another in front of you. Like I said above, whether or not they even say hello to you is a hit/miss shot. My waiters/waitresses always seem to be assigned way too many tables and I hardly see them, and on top of that they are rude/not personable.Even worse, there was a select waiter who clearly was treating me differently than other guests due to my skin color; he was not simply disinterested/aloof like the rest were.I have very few good experiences here. To be frank, the sushi is just not even good enough to ignore this. Go to Kyoto Sushi in Edwardsville. Hell, go anywhere but here.

Very nice to have such a fun place with wonderful food in Alton. There is no other restaurant around here like this one. This chefs are great and put on a good show for adults or children and the food is amazing. They go out of their way to make birthdays extra special with doing the Dragon Dance for the person's birthday and have them join to do the dance if they choose to. Very fun place

Rude managment and poor listening skills but the food and server were good. I made a reservation for 12 people on Monday for dinner on Friday with the regular menu, not hibachi. Upon arrival I asked the hostess if they had my reservation down and if we could be seated. They did not have any of my information down for a reservation and tried to seat us at hibachi. I had to state three times that my party wanted to sit for regular dinning. Once we got seated there was only one server for the whole dining side of the restaurant and she was overworked. Lastly, my party had separate checks and each was charged 18% gratuity. Traditionally a restaurant owner will post or notify their customers of gratuity requirements before seating a large party. Do not recommend for a reservation or large group.

We really enjoyed Shogun, Alton. Great food, my guests had sushi and loved it. The servers were prompt, The Hibachi chef was very good and entertained us. The servings are huge and delicious! I would go there again and again!

Worst ever!!...Let me first say they don't take reservations...it may allow you to online but it means nothing when you get there. When we were finally seated with random people (during covid) the vent in the ceiling started leaking grease on me.. we had no drinks a hour in and I was over it!!! The waitress said if I wanted a different table I would have to wait. Luckily a nice gentleman at our table recommended we all move to a different table and so we did which put us at a disadvantage because the hibachi went to our old table thinking it was us and the new people got served before us!!!! 3 hours later we were eating very salty food and small portions. That was my first and last time going there!!

The Yummy Yummy roll + eel sauce is one of the best rolls I have ever had. The chef was newer and added eel sauce by mistake but it ended up being amazing. I will order it this way from now on. Kudos to the sushi chef.

didnt expect to be starving at a hibachi gril, but just as the man with foot lettuce in his burger, that's exactly what I got. i asked for sake. no sake i asked for service. No service the best part of my experience was writing this review
This restaurant has both a dining room where you can order off the menu or you can sit at a table where they cook in front of you. My group ate in the dining room. Seemed slow to get food once it was ordered. I ordered the chicken teriyaki combination box with fried rice. The best part of the meal was the sushi. The box included teriyaki chicken, two pieces of tempura shrimp, two dumplings and some tempura fried vegetables. One of the vegetables I couldn’t even tell what it was. Other places I’ve been to like this restaurant provided shrimp sauce or a teriyaki sauce to dip your food in, but this place does not. Just seem like the food was very bland and I wouldn’t eat here again.

Food was great, everything came out very fast. Server did a great job, but was very short with her words. Bathroom was absolutely horrid, would have preferred a porta potty to that.

Food was great. Service was ok. I would have liked a refill on my drink even if I had to pay for it but the experience made up for the lack of service. The Chef was great at entertaining and our food was delicious!

Weird vibes in the lobby, for the price the food wasn't that great and no masks by anyone working in there. Keep in mind the omicron variant is building and covid numbers are increasing rapidly again at this point. Will not order again.

Great place for a fun night out and some good food! Make sure to dine on the hibachi side to watch a skilled chef cook your meal right in front of you and keep you entertained.The steak, chicken, and sword fish are all very good choices!
