I have visited here four times and it has always been an enjoyable experience. Lately, the service is a bit lacking, but that may be residual from the covid lockdown. They are missing some wines they used to have that I loved, which they did not replace with anything similar. The tables are very close together so that you are obligated to talk to your neighbors- perhaps that is part of the ambiance? However, people have to move their tables over to let others move from their seats when they go to the bathroom or leave for the evening. It seems excessive. The prices are high enough that they could remove some seats for their visitors to be comfortable.

This is the best restaurant in Carbondale. I held two business dinners here recently, and everyone loved the food. The chicken Marsala was sublime. Best crème brûlée I’ve ever had. Extensive wine list and real bartenders who can mix classic cocktails properly. My only complaint is that they don’t always have a vegetarian option on their rotating menu, so call first if your party needs vegetarian options and make sure they can accommodate.Parking: The parking lot has meters but I’ve not had to pay recently.

Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, staff were very polite and always available. The menu offers regular selections as well as ever changing specials so you can always experience different flavors no matter how many times you eat, which I think is awesome. That said, definitely going back!

Food and service were impecable.. better than my last trip to a Michelin star in Madrid. Server was attentive without crowding. Food was absolutely perfect from the Cesar salad to the strip steak with omg horse radish sauce to the grand finale... perfect creme . Amazing in every sense of the word!

The portions are small, but delicious. The atmosphere is "cozy". Very enjoyable dinner.

Global Gourmet is the brain child of Chef Andrea Barclay who brings her Culinary Institute of America training to small town southern Illinois. The restaurant specializes in wine and food pairings, so every time you eat there, there's a new surprising menu. Andrea travels the globe and brings her inspirations from her travels back to Carbondale. RIP to Tip, who was the jovial host at GG for many years.

Wow, what a fantastic meal. I was there with a party of 10 and everyone said the same. I had the Pasta du jour and i dont remember the details but it was phenomenal, crab cakes were the best I've ever had, artichoke dip was delicious. Server was excellent and the owner came over and talked with us. There are no "buts" in this review. 5s all around.

We recently celebrated a special birthday at Global Gourmet and was more than delighted with the service, food and hospitality given to us by our waiter and owner. We spent several hours there and wish we lived closer to have dinners on a regular basis.

What an excellent bistro. Service, food and atmosphere were outstanding. I wish I could remember our servicer's name (#9 on the receipt on Sept 27). He was training a new server. They both were very attentive. G.G. adds a touch of sophistication to the Carbondale restaurant scene.

We came to celebrate our Anniversary & Mattie was a warm, fabulous waitress & the duck & salmon -as well as the chocolate bourbon pie! -were outstanding (would have enjoyed a small side of additional Hoisin Sauce with the duck). We sat in the quiet patio & had a truly lovely evening! Thank you!

Service was horrible. Don't know the servers name. It took over 1 hour to get our food, and the party that came in 20 minutes after us got served first. I asked for tea for my wife 4 times and never got it. The duck and veal were both overcooked. The portions were too small. $107.00 down the drain.

This has been our hidden gem for several years. Fabulous food, intimate setting, great staff. The owner is talking about retiring to the south of France. I'd hate to see her go.
