Food was alright, but being around people who are doing drugs is not. Wasn’t surprised that another person encountered issues with this.

The food. The menu is a dinky piece of laminated paper. It just says things like “Reuben”. What it doesn’t say: rumor has it the Tavern has acquired the services of a professional chef who formerly worked in the Signature Restaurant / 95th floor Hancock building, and he’s running things here like a five star Michelin. When I got the Reuben, it didn’t just look good. It looked “plated”. Every fry perfectly fried and placed. I don’t even like Reubens that much but this one was amazing. LOOK AT IT. ITS A MASTAPIECE. savory corned beef and left the memory of perfectly buttered rye on my palate. WHAT IS THIS PLACE !?!

Friendly neighborhood Southside bar atmosphere, just expected normal bar food. The burger was house made perfectly cooked, medium and juicy, two slices of cheese, bright red tomatoes and the chef had homemade pickles. It was delicious! Hubby got the ribs, loved them, and I gobbled up the homemade potato salad. Perfect lunch on a Saturday afternoon for us. Belly up to the bar, chat with the folks and give it a try!

Whoever said this place is nothing special has never tried the food lol. This place has the dive-bar vibe, but the staff are also very friendly and the service I experienced when I visited was excellent! But my biggest surprise was the food. My goodness, I didn't expect the quality and presentation of the dishes we were presented. My praise definitely goes to the chef for some very delicous chile rellenos. His take on a dish close to my heart warmed me up through and through, and left me wanting more. Absolutely worth the trip and the calories! If you're not sure if you should give this place a try, ask your self if you enjoy a place with kind staff, and delicious food. If the answer is yes, give it a try!

The place is nothing special, but when 10+ people show at a bar (across from a cemetery) shortly after noon and get great service, that says a lot! The person we lost liked Old Style. The bartender brought a bottle of Old Style and a dozen shot glasses.

Donna was great. The drinks were cold and reasonably priced. We'll be back!

Definitely a hidden gem. Food was amazing. Recommend the steak philly hoagie and Roast Pork entrees. Egg rolls come with an awesome giardiniera and au jus that makes for a great combination. Onion rings were pretty good too. Bartender was very nice and made some great drink recommendations. It was pretty laid back and comfortable. I'll definitely be revisiting to try more daily specials. Chef definitely lives up to previous reviews.

The prices are excellent, staff is nice, the food is awful. My wings were black and burned. The fried mushrooms, sauces, fries lacked flavor and salt. The egg rolls were good, hence the one star. The cook supposedly worked on the 95th floor at the Hancock building; he cares about food and presented himsef and the food well, however, the food should be seasoned. Quiet and chill atmosphere.

We have gone to the Brick way before the Brick opened (30 yrs). Food is awesome. Show up today, 3:30pm, bar very dark, music blasting. Bar tender asked if too dark! Since when do they let people opening smoke weed? We will still support local business, but people who smoke, have consideration, go outside. Maybe owner should talk with his staff. Next time, CRP

Great local spot with amazing food and prices. All of the bartenders are fantastic. Special shout out to Donna, Denise and Kylie. Top tier southside bartenders who make you feel like family. 10/10

Quiet, out of the way place where you can relax on most nights without a big crowd to deal with. The people there are friendly and the atmosphere is calming. Outstanding food and the drinks are good. I'm coming back!

The bartender Kylie does cochise, I came in with my husband a few nights ago and when I had gone to the bathroom Kylie (the bartender that night) was in the larger stall with two other women asking for "another bump" following sniffing sounds, I told my husband and he said let's wait a bit, later in the evening some random guy in a ponytail riding a motorcycle came in and handed Kylie a folded up bill and left immediately after...don't come here, that's terrible, both me and my husband saw it and left immediately
