Visiting from Dallas and decided to stop by and try some soul food as this restaurant was recommended to me. Let me start by saying it was very HOT I guess the A.C went out ??‍♀️.They was out of yams so I decided to get greens and Mac and cheese to go with my lamb chops. The best thing on my plate was the cornbread it was really good. Definitely recommend is the pot roast cupcake.

Me and my family decided to try this place for the first time today after church.. We was very disappointed, first thing, the lady taking our order was very rude, we asked simple questions and it was a problem. We also ordered 5 dinners and she act like that was a issue. She started talking to the person behind while we was ordering.. we also asked if they could bag everyone food up separately because we were going to different destinations.. We were asked to wait outside until our food was ready, that took about a hour to get. When we went back in they did not separate our food so we had to do it ourselves. Also they forgot 1 of our dinners so we had to wait around for that.. Now the food was horrible, I order smothered chicken, white meat which is extra. That chicken was so dry,it was not smothered chicken it was baked chicken with some kinda packaged or jar gravy poured on it.. it's only a very little gravy.. The so called smothered pork chops are the same... I never received my corn bread, so the greens I ordered had no purpose. The only thing that was ok was the mac and cheese... it definitely was a waste of money...I did notice when the owner got there the lady who took our order wasn't rude anymore.. I wanted to like this place but its not for me

Listen... Finding good soul food when you live in Cali ain't easy. So when I travel I stay on the lookout. There are lots a highly rated soul food restaurants in Chicago but Oooh Wee is the one I chose on my trip and I'm SO glad I did.The food was amazing! The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had. The catfish was fried perfectly and the seasoning was on point. The mac & cheese and sweet potatoes were very good and them greens... chef's kiss .I tried my mom's oxtails and they were good as well. The portions were on point too. We definitely left full. The peach cobbler was solid. That pot roast cupcake was mid though. It wasn't bad but it was more of a novelty, in my opinion. The staff was friendly and we felt welcome when we came in and left. It was definitely a positive experience.Parking: There is free parking but the lot is small. There is also street parking but not much.

Chicken tips were delicious. I had some leftovers and finished them that same night. This is unusual for me. The greens were good with no pork, but turkey instead, which is a plus. The mac and cheese was good, but too much cheese and not enough mac, for me at least. The flavor and consistency were good, though. Last, but not least, the cornbread is amazing-super soft, smooth and melts in your mouth. On a previous visit, I had the Cajun seasoned catfish that I did NOT like. I understand that it's Cajun, but it was just too hot for me. My friend ordered it today and she liked it. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.Parking is a bit tight and you may have to wait for a spot and they have armed security.

I came from Wisconsin to come eat at this restaurant after watching some YouTube videos. I am glad I went. I didn't expect to see a sign that said cash only, we were told it was an ATM across the street at the gas station which was convenient and prevented us from having to go somewhere else. The inside and atmosphere was nice, the only thing that I would suggest is ungrading the seat covers. The bathroom was clean I went early when it opened so it smelled of fresh bleach scent. It took longer than expected for the food to come out the waitress came over several times to check on us and apologize for the delay. Because we were paying with cash we didn't order as much as we liked to not wanting to go over the amount of cash we had gotten. I had the pot roast cupcake, cat fish, greens, candid yams, macaroni and cheese. All were great with the exception of the candid yams, when it came out I knew from the appearance it wasn't going to be good and it wasn't so I didn't continue to eat it. Everything else was very good especially the greens. They give a real serving amount which you know you got your money worth. I would go again as well as recommend it to others. The family sitting next to us ordered fried shrimp, they looked so good, I plan to order my next visit.Parking: I went early so I was able to part in their lot which is an ok size. I would recommend going early to ensure you get a spot.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic restaurant that left me absolutely impressed. The j*** chicken tips were, perfectly spiced and tender. The baked macaroni was a cheesy delight, with each bite melting in my mouth. The cornbread was moist and slightly sweet, complementing the meal perfectly. And let's not forget the fried catfish, crispy and flavorful. The star of the show, however, was the exceptional service.

This food was so good. The best mac and cheese I ever had! The service was really good and the prices were fair. I got the catfish and it was about $21. I also had the Obama sweet tea which was like a fruit punch and that was really sweet (I don't really like sweet) but it was tasty. I would come here again. The food came out in about 7-10 minutes and it wasn't to crowded when we went as soon as it opened. Must try for sure!

Food was delicious, Greens & Sweet potatoes are from a can but doctored up well. Meats are fresh and very well seasoned cooked to perfection. The Strawberry Lemonade is delicious, I wish there was at least one free refill.

We came on Sunday right when the open and they already had a line! I can’t believe I didnt give them a chance sooner. It’s currently cash only so please plan accordingly. Service was great, food was delicious, even the bathrooms were nice and clean. Honestly the cereal bar was a surprise because I live Chucky!!! Oxtails were to die for. It was two of us and we spend a total of only $78. I could def bring a lil group of friends for a lowkey yet nice and social place for a Sunday morning. There is parking but obvs its first come and theres a security guard fir safety

Arrived at open, ordered and food arrived timely. However, we sent the food back due to it being cold. Overall the food was just ok for me…this restaurant is a BYOB establishment. Nonetheless, It is best to arrive early if you choose to visit, parking fills up quickly.

If you’re looking for comfort food with a twist, this is it! Our table ordered the Hennessy Wings with a side of Mac & Cheese and Candy Yams and the Pot Roast and Grits (IKR who’d of thought); These plates did not disappoint, every bite had you saying “Ooo Wee”. Other notable mentions, Waitress was very pleasant and accommodating, decor was vibrant yet eclectic, wait time was minimal because it was Wednesday (no wait and no crowd) parking lot is small however there is street parking, and lastly Bring CASH!!! They have changed their payment policy so cash is the only form of payment they accept. Overall, my experience at Ooo Wee was enjoyable and I look forward to my next visit. And if your reading this you should visit too!

This was my second visit the first time I said I’ll never go back because of such bad service. I never got my food order. Well gave them a second chance and all I can say is Steven our server was absolutely marvelous. Them fried green tomatoes were absolutely amazing. That Obama tea was just what I wanted.

Great soul food restaurant! Usually I get the catfish, but tried pork chops and very happy. Enough for two meals. Really love their mac and cheese.
