Rolled into Taste of Peru for dinner last Friday and it was đĽ. Got the mixed ceviche (calamari, shrimp, mussels) and the arroz con mariscosâseriously fresh and bold flavors. My buddy got lomo saltado with fries. We popped a BYO pisco sour and spent about $50 total. Staff was warm, live Peruvian music on the stripâmall stage set the mood. Cozy, realâdeal Peruvian spotâwill be back.

Excellent, the food did not disappoint!
I really think this is a one star place. Waited an hour for food. One dish had frozen vegetables still frozen. The ice cream covered in freezer burn and tasted like the freezer. The yucca appetizer was supposed to be boiled and steamed as per the menu but was deep fried, very dry, and without any flavor. We waited an hour for food and they couldnât t even cook it. Poor service and bad food. Too expensive. $20 for a frozen veg dish! Perhaps the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Sorry to say.

The reviews by other Peruvians have it right... it just seemed to miss the mark. Maybe leadership can increase the prices and take the food to the next level? I'd pay more for a dish that hits closer to home.
food: first time having Peruvian! great authentic place where you definitely get good portions for the price
service: waiter was very nice and she was the only one working the whole restaurant

Following our honeymoon in Peru, the most authentic and delicious, family-owned trattoria in Chicago is pur go to. The owner and long standing kitchen team serve up traditional cuisine. Its approachable, cozy and exudes local hospitality.
The chef/owner is present most service times and we have always experienced friendly service. Our most recent visit, my auntie fell adoringly for the Inca cola, and roasted chicken. It was a surprisingly enjoyable pairing. Her partner ordered the lomo saltoado, we always do corvina or mixto ceviche, the yucca and plantains with housemate sauce could be a weekly staple for our family.
So grateful to have Taste of Peru nearby. We will return soon.

Great food, but the service made it a one-and-done.
The food was genuinely impressive. The ceviche was sharp and fresh, and the cordero seco was rich, tender, and well-seasoned easily 4 stars. Presentation was decent about a 3-star effort, nothing standout but clean and appetizing.
But the service? Negative stars if that were possible.
We arrived at 8:30 on a Friday (they close at 11), and despite the time, both our appetizer and main course were brought out together around 9:00. By 9:10, staff were flipping chairs onto tables. Then at 9:30 while we were still eating a staff member began sweeping trash right next to our table. She hadnât spoken to us all night, yet swooped in to collect the check like we were holding her up.
Meanwhile, other staff were eating in the back, clearly winding down â which is fine, but it made us feel like intruders instead of welcomed guests.

The kitchen is strong, but basic courtesy and timing matter. Unfortunately, we wonât be back.
super low-key and unassuming, yet one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants I've been to in the United States!! the Ceviche was some of the best I've ever had, and the Arroz con Pollo was mind-blowingly delicious. sorry my pics are great, but it's only because the food was so good that I forgot to take a photo and had to take these pics while we had already eaten a lot.
DO NOT clock your dollars to pay prices on the online menu! When I pick up my order, I was told prices had changed and my particular order was increased by a whopping $5.50!đ However, the food was good.

What an amazing experience. We were a four top in the cozy establishment, conveniently tucked within a small shopping center - meaning better odds of a parking spot, which is a win anywhere in Chicago.
All 4 of us gave five stars to the food (the spicy chicken - wow!!đ), the service, and atmosphere.
We. Will. Be. Back.
