While the meal and the service were fine, one of the staff was walking around with a bottle of wine asking tables if they would like to partake. My friend said yes without thinking, and when the bill came that single glass of wine was $40!! They should have informed their guests that the cost was significantly more than the typical menu items! Totally unethical! It doubled the bill!

Food options and preparations were excellent. Dishes creative. Service outstanding and gracious. Choices of desserts superlative as it also had a patisserie. Wanted to try them all. The ambience was beautiful and warm. I love dining out and I live in Chicago but happened to be up north. I would most definitely go back again

Very nice little restaurant. The food was very good, and the service warm and friendly. The meal was not rushed - we took our time and got to have a very pleasant evening. We especially enjoyed the homemade cakes and cookies for dessert. We will definitely return for another evening.

Intimately Authentic. If you can get in to this place, then do so. French is my favorite and this place did not disappoint. The chef does extend the menu to some fun items, but a solid core of French staples centers the items on offer. The seafood is very good, fresh, and original in its presentation. One thing not to miss is dessert. Goodness, as good as you can get anywhere in Chicago - and all home made. I had the German Chocolate Cake - something I have not seen on a menu in 20 years (it was brilliant). The service is attentive, engaging, and intuitive in its delivery. One secret to this place is that it is not big - it is a small place that fosters an intimacy among the guest that makes you almost feel as if you are eating at someone's home. It is his intangible that makes this place so very special.

A gem in the burbs. Had a fantastic meal with friendly and attentive service from Julie. Prices are very reasonable for the quality food they serve. The to-go items are a plus and a must. Can’t wait to go back again.

An interesting small French restaurant with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. The service was accommodating and fast. We enjoyed the variety of soups and the exotic salad.

A good effort at French food but salad soggy, bread a little stale. Branzino with shrimp very good, small portions.

Everything from the food to the service and atmosphere at Frank & Betsie's is excellent. If you are looking for healthy, delicious food, this is place to go.From their Colorado Lamb Shank to their salmon and chicken dishes, everything on the menu is delicious – and consistently so. Every entree also comes with a choice of soup or salad and rice or potato. The price is extremely reasonable. You cannot find such reasonable prices for outstanding food at any other restaurants in the surrounding area.Michael and Jen are extremely friendly. Their attitude and service are top notch. They are so warm and friendly, my mood automatically perks up when I stop by to pick up my order after work weekday nights. They will take time to get to know you, remember you, and chat with you.I haven't dined in at Frank & Betsie's yet, but the atmosphere is well-suited for people who want to have a nice, quiet dinner out – be it with family, a partner, or friends.I have been a regular at Frank & Betsie's for three years now since the pandemic, and will continue to be for as long as the restaurant is around.

I am writing this review because I was shocked at how I was treated today at lunch at Frank and Betsies by the gentleman, I assume to be the owner. It was my first time to try the restaurant and I was meeting a friend of mine who also wanted to try it out. I know it has been a staple in Winnetka / Glencoe for many years and we had heard great things about the food, service and atmosphere.Upon arrival, the woman asked how many would be dining and I told her just two of us. She promptly showed me to a table. Then the older gentleman came over and asked if I had a reservation. I told him no, that we did not see how to make a reservation. He SCOLDED me and told me that next time I NEED to have a reservation because they are very busy!Look, I am a 50 year old pleasant woman who always tries to be kind but I do expect a level of respect when I chose to dine at an establishment. And because of his rudeness, I will NEVER return! The server was lovely and I appreciated her willingness to help us. The food was just ok. But again, due to feeling like I was treated and scolded because I was a “bad girl” for not making a reservation and taking up space, I will not be back nor will I recommend this restaurant. I live in the community and am disappointed.

Wonderful small family owned restaurant with excellent food, quiet atmosphere, great for special occasions or spending time with friends and family. The salmon with Champagne sauce was delicious. All entrees come with either rice or potato of the day, veggies and soup or salad. Excellent soups. Delicious wine and cakes, too.

This is an extraordinary find!!! A cozy intimate restaurant in Glencoe with the best food you can imagine and a staff that caters to you like family. We have had the butternut squash soup (best I've ever had) crisp fresh Caesar salad, delicious Amish duck and fabulous lamb shanks. Jennifer was such a helpful and friendly server and Michael the owner is so wonderful you feel like you've come home. We feel like we're eating at a beautiful cafe in Europe. Eating here is like being on a romantic vacation.
