OUTSTANDING, high quality sushi. My wife and I were very impressed with the quality, taste, and affordability of this trendy sushi restaurant. Even the hot tea we ordered, when we expected cheap teabags as usual, came in unique clay-like pots with loose filtered tea leaves in it. When a restaurant goes the extra mile like that, it is worth noting. We will certainly add Blue Sushi to our "regular favorite" spots.
Another gem in Downtown Naperville. Good courteous staff. Nice ambience. Good selection of Sake, cocktails and plenty of Veggie options and maki rolls. Only downside is that they don't take reservations and you have to show up and put down your name if there's a wait. This ain't so bad because you can take a nice walk around the beautiful Naperville downtown to kill some time.
I’ve got mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, their service and presentation is superb. Setting down my miso soup and removing the lid for me was completely unnecessary, but somehow welcoming and an extension of the attention to detail in service they had. The food came quickly and payment was painless. Their sashimi (I got the Kunsei Sake as part of the lunch special) had rich flavor and a beautiful texture. On the other hand, I had some issues with food temperature. The sashimi was great, no problem, but my miso soup was a little lukewarm. The maki roll I got (spicy Tako) was also strangely lukewarm. I get that the tako was cooked, in this case, but the speed with which I got my roll has me wondering if they had it sitting out for a while after making it. To charge $5 for a miso soup (it was a little done up with mushroom slices in it) and not have it be piping hot is strange. If the food temperature was great, I’d give it 5 stars. Could be that it’s an off day or that those temperature issues were an inevitable part of the lunch rush, but hey: still recommend this place, especially for a nicer meal. I might try it again for a lunch special and change the soup/sushi to see if the experience is any different.
Great place to have nice food
Lunch on the patio by the Des Plaines River. Wonderful ambiance, marvelous food & sake flights. What could be better?!!
Great Sushi and service - Sunday all day special Happy Hour prices on sushi was a bonus!
Plenty of plant based options that even non-vegans enjoyed. The cooked and raw fish options were also very delicious. Miso soup had more vegetables in it that normal, which added to the appetizer. The drinks were also fun with flavored lemonades. The conscientious efforts taken from sustainable transparent sourcing, friendly staff, all the way down to paper straws was much appreciated.
Very overrated. While the atmosphere is cool. You can get sushi that tastes slightly better, at half the price, and double the amount at Sushi Naper on route 59. Plus, it's all you can eat. Very disappointed with the taste. Everything was super salty or too sweet.
Blue Sushi has an amazing extensive menu offering raw, cooked, and vegan options. Their vegan menu is more varied and than any other restaurant, offering interesting options that are far superior to the typical avocado and cucumber rolls that other places provide. They are transparent about where they source their fish and seafood. The drink menu is varied as well. They have a beautifully decorated interior and great outdoor seating in the summer months. I have visited this restaurant for several years and have had an amazing experience each time.
I LOVE IT HERE!! The service is always great and the food and drinks haven't disappointed!! Happy Hour all day Sundays is a big bonus and makes for a great Sunday Funday!!
This was our last family dinner of the summer and we couldn't have had a better experience. We sat on the patio and had to wait for 45 minutes for a table but it was well worth the wait. Our server was very hospitable and even brought out a water bowl for our dog. We started off with some cocktails and mocktails and edamame and seaweed salad. We then moved on to main course with tofu lettuce wraps for the table and then we each had our own rolls. We ended the night with a splurge in the tempura fried ice cream and lychee mochi. Each dish had special attention to presentation and an array of fresh flavors. Thank you to the whole team at Blue Sushi for making our last summer family dinner so special. We look forward to our next visit!
On a recent day trip to Naperville I told my 11 year old granddaughter to pick a restaurant to go to. She picked Blue Sushi. Now I have never even wanted to try sushi let alone make a meal of it. The wonderful waitress we had talked me through the menu and made suggestions which I followed. What a wonderful meal and experience. I am very impressed with this grill and we will be back!
Had an absolutely amazing time at dinner tonight. We sat at the bar and Anthony was AMAZING! He was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The food was to die for and the drinks were fantastic as well. Can’t wait to come back soon! We had a wonderful time. 10/10
I dined here for lunch on Monday with two friends. We had to wait a little for seating at 1pm, but it was worth the wait for the perfect table riverside outside. Our server was Brian. He was friendly and provided good service. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed to see that waiters did not mask up as they served food especially since the Covid numbers are rising again. The last few restaurants I dined at the wait staff wore masks. We had some wine and ordered sushi for lunch. Unfortunately, my friends four dishes came out before mine and I sat there as they ate. Brian said it was because the food was from two different lines. Blue Sushi needs to work on coordinating the service from the hot and cold sections of the kitchen. I had the South Pacific and the yellowtail maki. Both were very good. I love the South Pacific with the hint of sweetness from the pineapple. I enjoy dining at this restaurant. They have a great happy hour that extends into the weekend as well. The only rose on the menu was not good, but I didn't send it back because the other rose was a sparkling-type prosecco. I mustered through. Next time I will ask for a tasting before committing.
I love it! I will definitely go back next time I visit Naperville I recommend the steak over the hot rocks and the nigiri. You get to cook the steak yourself
