Stone Eagle Tavern is a classy restaurant with delightful staff and amazing food. They offered me a sweet birthday celebration, which I greatly appreciate; it included a sundae with sparklers. I'd like to thank Jim for going beyond for my birthday celebration, where Melinda and I had a great lunch.
We heard this was a good, upscale restaurant in Rockford. Not so much....Had a chicken Rueben on 10/9/20. The fries and sandwich were cold, the chicken tough and the sour kraut tasted like it was forked out a can right before serving. The server was not wearing a mask, however she had some type of plastic guard that projected about an inch from her mouth. No nose covering, no gloves. She handed our drinks to us by palming the tops of the glass with her fingers gripping the sides. Two stars for the pleasant and comfortable outdoor seating.
The food has improved here after a slump a few years back. The Walleye fish sandwich was amazing! Huge! The bar and oyster bar are good. The seafood specials especially the lobster are drawing in crowds, lobsters are good sized. Worth coming back to, and a local restaurant.
First time my wife , freinds and I went there. The owner Mr. B and the Executive Chef Troy, stopped by our table twice to check on our satisfaction. The 44 oz Porterhouse steak was like butter and the best steak I've everhad. Blows Gibson's and Morton's steak house away. Service from Melissa, was fantastic , everyone in my party loved everything, this restaurant is on my keeper list, nice job to all, thanks Mr. B.Ken Hoffman, Harvard
Food was very tasty. 1 star for the bartender that wasn't wearing a mask. She was serving drinks to patrons at the bar actively without a mask.
The owner and chef are amazing and truly care about the customers experience. The calamari and steaks are the best around!
I am very critical of restaurants. I have complained about something at every place I've been to over the last year or so.That said, tonight I am ecstatic. I do not have a single complaint. I ordered the prime rib on special. It was cooked exactly the way I asked, rare. The horseradish sauce was brilliant. Sweet, with just the right amount of bite. Potato was perfectly done. Generally I am not a fan of brussel sprouts, however, the brussel sprouts were excellent. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned. The staff was exemplary. Timely with drinks and food orders. The entire staff where we were seated worked together well. We received the perfect amount of attention. Every interaction we had was friendly, pleasant and professional. One of the servers talked us into dessert. I was not disappointed. The white chocolate cheesecake was absolutely to die for and the strawberry pie was out of this world.I am very impressed and I look forward to dining here again.Well done.
This place is one of my favorite restaurants in Rockford. The calamari was what originally made me want to return, but the beignets are also a delicious dessert option. On top of the wonderful decor and ambiance, the restaurant holds a classy style in handling the current pandemic at hand. Definitely recommend stopping by.
We just were looking for a new place to East can’t tell you how great the food was and the service was awesome I highly recommend this place to everyone
Great food, nice atmosphere. The staff all took proper precautions and tables allowed for social distancing. No low price luncheon specials, but average prices in line with other places.
Absolutely horrific. Staff and management squabble in front of customers. Once we went in as a large group and we were done with dinner they had the effrontery to ask if we can leave so they can seat another large party. Never again.
Good place for higher end food. Staff is great. Jen was our server and she was so friendly. Try the whitefish stuffed with crab.
Highly recommended, 5 stars!Very good food and nicely priced. Great local owner, and new chef who cooks superbly. Both visit your table. Very friendly, smiling and attentive staff. Love the shovel of fresh shrimp, mussels, and pizza. Often order the steak they are known for, but last night had the chef special pork dinner and it was fabulous. Really enjoy their new outside seating area too.
Some of the best customer service and food you'll find in Rockford! The owner is a humble man who is passionate about his restaurant and truly cares about his customer experience. I know because I witnessed him on both visits greeting customers at their tables and thanking them for their support, asking them how things are going, and engaging them in conversation. Wife mentioned to him how much she enjoyed the seafood crepé, which was on the menu pre-COVID but not now. The owner goes back to the kitchen and prepares a seafood crepé for her - hot, fresh, and then complementary delivers it to our table and tells us to enjoy it! Are you serious??? How amazing! And how nice of this man!!!! He's never met us before, just wanted to make sure we had an amazing experience in his restaurant. That's a level of caring and customer service that you WONT find in a chain restaurant!!!!I'm happy and proud to support this man and his business. I hope his small business thrives for many many more years to come!!! We will support and patronize Stone Eagle tavern even more now. If you haven't tried this place yet, please do! Great place to take the wife or significant other! Food is amazing! Portion sizes are big! You're not going to get ripped off here. This place is worth every penny!!!!
PHENOMENAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've never had better customer service than my visit to the Stone Eagle Tavern. We were greeted and thanked for coming as we were walking to our table and were checked on several times throughout our stay by the owner, head chef, and service team - but, it was never seen as overbearing. We were even given a sample of their pasta as we waited for our food. I got the Adult Chicken Tenders and I can understand why the menu states that it is the regulars' favorite. The chicken reminds me more of a tempura chicken with a lighter, crispier fried breading that was very appetizing! I was only in Rockford for work purposes, but, if I'm ever back - I'm headed to the Stone Eagle Tavern.
