The guy who answers the phone is always rude sounding. Food is sub par quality to most bars in Rockford. Easy to see why they are going out of business.

We have lived in the area for 3 years , have seen the building but never visited the restaurant. Neighbors and acquaintances have told us it was amazing food & fair prices. My daughter was married on 2/11/23 and they flew up from Florida to celebrate with us and get a touch of winter. We decided to go to Stone Eagle as the menu is varied to please the different taste buds. Made reservations , was seated promptly in the very noisy bar. Ordered drinks , very nice. But from there it was all very subpar down hill to what we expected after referrals and reading reviews. Calamari- $15.99 needed another 1-2 minutes as it was not crispy, kinda like a wet noodle instead. Artichoke/Spinach/Crab Dip-$16.99 massive amount of spinach with so much cheese on top it was like rubber , detected no artichoke at all and found one small chunk of crab. Whitefish Stuffed w/ Crab- $26.99, fish was dry and chewy with a mixture of fake crab and gooey sauce that had a strange smell and it was swimming in a plate of butter. Side of broccoli was also in a bowl of butter and inedible, baked potato was way over cooked and dry. Seafood AuGratin $28.99 , sauce was very thick & tomato based with very small amount of actual seafood in it. Sides of cream spinach and baked potato were a fail as well as all the other sides. 22oz Strip Steak $48.99 , side of broccoli again swimming in butter and crinkle fries that were fresh from the freezer and needed 2-3 more minutes in the fryer. The strip steak was perfection per my husband but the rest ws not. I had Oysters Rockefeller $22.99 for 6. Once I dug past the enormous mountain of spinach with hard as rock melted mozzarella I found the oysters which were almost as large as a dime. I have eaten Oysters Rockefeller at restaurants from Florida to Maine to California and dozens of places in between...That was the most horrific excuse of O/R I have ever been served , not edible. Pushing our luck we ordered Beignets $6.99 for 5 as they say they are famous for. Oh NO NO NO..... That was like a ball of biscuit dough dropped in a vat of oil...That was NOT a light fluffy cloud Beignet.... it was more like a large size golf ball of very heavy dough cake topped with a drizzle of chocolate. Normally I take photos of food I try at new restaurants , sorry this food was not worth a photo , except for the steak but I didn't waste my time with a photo. I hate to see any business close after so many years , but if this is the sample of their food I am honestly surprised they have made it. But their cocktails were flying so maybe that's where they get the income. Oh that's one more surprise , they have one price for cashing if you don't know that you will pay ALOT more if you use your card.... Just on the food items alone we ended up paying $49.97 plus tax more that what the menu prices were. Don't believe me look for yourself. Total bill plus 18% tip was $345 for 4 people. Have to give the server 5 stars , she was spot on and attentive.

Glad to hear this place is closing. One night went with my gf and niece. Arrived at 635pm, ordered a burger and pizza at 650pm. Waited until 735pm to get a pizza that was soggy in the middle 50% of it. Cold, cheap, soggy fries with a lukewarm burger. The only reason I stayed and ate is because I have to work at 7am and this was my dinnerThe server was great though

I ate here with my 13 yr old granddaughter and my sister . Granddaughter orders apps, salmon dinner with brussel sprouts dessert she loved it all. My sister had the very large order of steamed mussels. We ate at a both in the bar area . All of the memorabilia on ceiling and walls and the train above our heads was interesting from my granddaughters eye view. I'moving to this city so I will continue to dine here .

Our server was wonderful. She was very patient and very helpful. The food was good, they cooked the steak exactly as ordered. The inside is a random mix of garage sale junk on the walls and hanging from the ceiling, not something you would expect from a place with 50$ meals. Was it worth trying? Yes. Worth going again? Probably not , unless it was for a special occasion.
