I first came across this gem of a restaurant about 4 months ago and I have been coming every time I am in the area. As an executive chef, I do a lot of cooking at home, but occasionally like to go out to eat. El Barrio delivers each and every time! The food is always very fresh, fast and the service is great! They have a different special everyday and the portions are plentiful. If you’re ever in Romeoville be sure to stop by El Barrio and experience some amazing Mexican food, where the vibe is very warm and inviting!

Do not pay with your debit card at this restaurant because they like to steal money here. Twice it has happened that they charge me double and once a charge was posted and I didn’t even go to the restaurant on that given day. Be careful

We were told to try El Barrio and I'm glad we did. All of our food was fresh, hot, and tasted great. The service was awesome, and I have only positive things to say about our experience. This is my new go-to place for Mexican food, and I will definitely be a returning customer.

I just placed a pick up order at 9:35 PM, when I called I asked if it’s still OK to place an order for a pick up. The guy on the phone was very hesitant, but agreed to take my order which I was very thankful for. We just moved to the area about a month ago and have already ordered food from here at least three times and we are very pleased with the food quality. This time I ordered two taco dinners with four tacos instead of the three that usually come with it and two Horchata. I received two Horchata and a bag with my food (I got there around 9:50 PM) when I got to my car I looked in the bag and there was only one taco dinner, I was a little bit confused as to why I was charged less, but didn’t think anything of it because I repeated myself twice saying I wanted two taco dinners and two Horchata, I wanted to go back inside and let the guy know, but literally they closed the doors as I walked out and turned off the open sign at 9:54pm.

Again, great food, super delicious and very appreciative that my order was taken at such a late time, but it sucks. I didn’t get everything I asked for after repeating the order too.
