My dinner experience today was below expectations.I cannot point specifics because service, food quality and ambiance were at not recommendable level. The dessert, napoleon cake, save a little bit the meal course at the end.

Ciao's restaurant serves gorgeous, genuine Italian food. This is not a bottomless bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. This is thoughtful, genuine Italian food. Every bite makes you use every taste bud. This is not anything like Olive Garden or even our other local Italian restaurants. This takes Italian food to another level. We had braised beef ravioli, shrimp bisque,, swordfish with lemon couscous....

Done by reservations only. Went in and was seated right away. Seemed like there was only one person taking orders for all the tables. She was nice and answered any questions had before ordering. The armosphere was quant but sat toward the kitchen and could hear the clanging of pots and pans throughout dinner. The restrooms were next to the kitchen too. Had good portion size for the food but prices were on the higher side I thought. For desert if get any you go up front to there case of deserts and pick what you want and it is brought to your table. The table side cheese wheel is put on fire and cheese scraped inside of it and pasta was put inside to mix together. It was suppose to be carbonara but just had bacon pieces in it nothing else. The lasagna was good.

Greeted with “you’re lucky to get a table. You have been squeezed in. You need to be out by 7:00. Bread was burnt. Two meals were served cold. One meal was skimpy. Two were delicious. Staff person put voiced concerns on to “her”.

Completely ignored us. Treats looked delicious though. Figured we would try out a local place while driving through.

Absolutely love Ciaos! The cheese wheel was such a fun (and delicious) experience to order and their soups are amazing! Make sure to pick up some cannolis - delicious!
I lived in Italy for a decade, and Adele makes food that is better than the original! No special event is complete without one of her cakes, and I would say this is absolutely best restaurant in South Bend–

Wonderful food, service and experience. Will be back again!
This was my first time here but they made a fantastic first impression. Everything was tasty and fresh. The pheasant ravioli was the surprise of the night and everyone's favorite dish, but the carbonara and lasagna were also excellent. I've been here several times just for carryout desserts and those are also really good

We took our nephew here (his choice) on 4-26-2023 for a combo birthday/graduation dinner. This place has a wonderful atmosphere. Perfect for a celebration with authentic Italian food and a quiet and intimate ambiance. I had the dish that is made inside the huge wheel of Parmesan, a fun spectacle and delicious. After dinner, the accomplished female chef came out of the kitchen to say hello and give our nephew a hug and kiss (he had dined here many times before). So touching!

Rated on the food alone, Ciao's Catering is absolutely five stars. Some of the best Italian food I've ever had. Real, authentic Italian recipes, made from scratch, including the pasta. To have a restaurant this good in South Bend is a real blessing. My only knock would be that the atmosphere is lacking. It's definitely not cozy and welcoming.

Myself and friends came by after seeing some of the baked goods in the window. Adele was nothing but amazing, she was so sweet in letting us try a few treats before deciding on which ones we wanted. She shared her story of owning a bakery and moving to Indiana with us. She left us with kind words about our studies in university and was just the sweetest. We all agree these are some of the best treats we've ever had and we encourage everyone to go by and buy deserts and ask Adele to share her amazing story with you.
Great food and the deserts are amazing!
