Great place to eat. Cornbread muffins are awesome and ribs are fall off the bone. Caine, one of the employee's is very friendly, efficient and on task!! Awesome place ?
Very average, not bad or anything, not great either. Brisket was quite tender enough, burnt ends were a little better. Sauce was

Service was great and atmosphere was good, but the food was just so-so. I had the rib dinner with macaroni and cheese and potato salad. The macaroni and cheese was the best part. The ribs were tender, but a little dry. The potato salad didn’t have a taste other than boiled potatoes.

I live out of town and had been wanting to go to Woodyards for a while as it looks like a very cool, casual place to eat. I got a small chili, and rib dinner with mac and cheese side. The mac and cheese was really good and the best part of the lunch. The chili was okay. Maybe if I got a bigger serving it would grow on me. The big disappointment were the ribs. When I started eating them I realized they were baby back ribs. I guess I assumed that's what they normally served. I've never really had great baby backs and far prefer spare ribs. These ribs were really the worst I have ever eaten. There was little if any smoke or flavor at all. Much of the meat was very dry (think overcooked chicken breast) and not very good. When I write reviews I try to be positive but the ribs were honestly terrible. I looked at the menu later and realized that the dinners were supposed to be spare ribs. Had they said they weren't serving spare ribs, I would never have ordered them. Addendum: I just called the restaurant and the person was apologetic that the menu said spare ribs but I was served baby back ribs. He said that they hadn't made spare ribs in many months. Maybe they will fix the menu to actually represent what is served. I doubt that I will be back to try some of the other meats. But, if you want good ribs, go elsewhere.

An often overlooked place in one of the great BBQ destination cities, which has always puzzled me. They are consistently good with any dish that I order, there's always plenty of places to sit and park, and it's easy to find. If you traveled to the city to get a taste of the great barbecue joints, skip one of the ones that are always on the tourism lists and go here instead. You won't be disappointed.
What a fun little haunt! In the big KC there are BBQ places everywhere. This was my first visit here. Feels like an Ozark mountain town. Quaint decor, outdoor or indoor seating with a fine brick patio from local Kansas and Missouri brick companies of the past. Lots of historical touches. Good food. Friendly
Food was pretty mid. The price is there on the baby back slab but you get the food and it's just smoked. The rub doesn't add any texture or flavor, the burnt end chili was a disaster, and the sauces were pretty uninspired. That and nobody explained that you'd have to load up on all your plasticware, drinks and sauces at the counter and bring them to the other building to sit in. If you're looking for good BBQ, look elsewhere because this is a pretty poor effort in Kansas City.

Had high hopes for this BBQ spot. Neat atmosphere and the woodyard in the backyard I thought would be a recipe for a great BBQ location. We were here at opening on a weekday. We had ribs, brisket, and sausage and sides. All the meat was dry and no smoky flavor. Sorry to say I would not recommend this place. On the upside the staff seemed very nice, but did not have a lot of interaction with them.
