Yellowtail, plum wine, volcano roll... how can you go wrong. This little us awesome ??. We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. Very friendly with a cozy vibe. Menu was large. Nagiri selections were nice and to be honest decent priced. Waitress was attentive and informative. I have a few favorite sushi spots in KC ( Prime Sushi on Main, Naree Sushi KcK, and of course Bob Wasabi which is now closed.) So this place has definitely moved into my top five. I guess I would have more pics but hunger ruled tonight. Almost forgot... 50 bucks for 2 glasses of wine a volcano roll, sashimi and nagiri and chicken teriyaki. You can't beat this. Super clean super fresh super friendly

Would have been a perfect date night with my daughter if it weren't for the ridiculous amount of fruit flies flying around and landing on our food. Sushi was great, but the flies ruined it by the end.Great service though.

I have found my favorite sushi place!!! Maru is the place! It took me a while but yes this is my go-to sushi place when I get a craving. This place is in Prairiefire and I just pray for a parking spot every time cause I don't wanna go to the parking garage around the corner. But seriously I am capable of parking in the garage if needed lol. They do have a spot in the front if you do carry out too! I find it amusing that whenever I do carry out that they tell me like 45 min to 1 hour and I get there and it's just sitting there ready for me to eat. They said there were people who would say unkind words for not being ready for taking so long. Clearly they can get it ready in less than 45 minutes but I think I understand in case maybe more people wanna dine in or more carry out orders that they say a longer time to anticipate anything. But I just arrive after 45 minutes cause you never know if something delays them and I don't want them to feel rushed with a customer in front of them. They have some of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. Omg so one of my favorite rolls has always been the spicy yellowtail roll and I haven't found one as great in KC until at Maru. Wow their fish is fresh is all I gotta say. I really like any of their deep fried rolls too but my favorite would be the vegas roll. They have a spicy garlic edamame option as an appetizer. Get it. Just make your tastebuds happy if you like spicy food. I think their rice options are okay. I thought the Maru sauce was too sweet. I was scrapping it off and only eating the chicken pieces. Overall this is my favorite sushi place in the area! No other place compares nearby!

Amazing sushi! Truly well done. Got the House special, the Troy Roll and the garlic Albacore. The house was amazing, the Troy even better (i loved the mango sauce! Well balanced), but im personally not a fan of the garlic Albacore. Its just not my style. As my boyfriend said "it is amazing in 1 peice, but all 8 is just too much". Great one to share with friends!Everything was fresh, staff were kind, the atmosphere is a perfect sushi date night, and we made friends during our visit.

Wow, we decided to get carryout from here on a Friday night. First, there is a carryout parking spot. Next, the food was fabulous. We had some amazing smoked roll, plus everything was tasty and fresh!

I would have loved to try this place, but after waiting for over an hour, they cancelled my order 15 minutes before it was to arrive. I ordered in advance because we needed the food at this time and could not eat later. Now, my family will not eat dinner until after 9pm. You lost my business for good.

I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. We live nearby and walked to get their ice cream for my kids. Before I left, I looked at the time schedule and it said they closed at 9:00 pm so I arrived at 8:20 pm. There were customers and all the employees still working but the server said they were already closed! It's very frustrating and there would be no problem if they changed their time schedule online.

Three lunches: Nigiri, 3 roll fried, 3 roll raw. Lunch 1: food as expected and reasonable service. Lunch 2: food as expected and poor service. Host was training hostess and there was an uncomfortable tension (eg his reaction to her each time she spoke to me). Lunch 3: see pic - ordered spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail. The rolls were very loose and did not taste right or good. One seemed to be smoked. The rolls had large chunks of rice. My water was rarely refilled. Basically I was seated, order taken, food delivered, bill delivered right after food. The restaurant was not busy at any of the three visits, but host and hostess would disappear and rarely come back. E-mailed leadership prior to posting this review; no response from leadership. If you are looking for terrific sushi / sashimi / tempura in Kansas City area, I recommend Sushi UNI in Lenexa, KS.

Ordered chicken katsu. It tasted like cinnamon. So nasty. I tried to call and let them know. I have been on hold for eight minutes and going. Been ten minutes now. Editing as this gets worse. Fifteen minutes and I give up. Forget this nasty trash place. Sad really

Worst service i have ever experienced at a restaurant. We had to flag down a server to take our order and four food never came even though the place was empty on a Saturday night. That should have been our hint to avoid. Will never go back
