I recently placed an order for the whole catfish dinner, 2 pieces, and like always it was truly delicious but unfortunately the cook is cooking the catfish to the point that is considerably harder than normal. My takeout order had no utensils or napkins which is a minor complaint but just want to make sure that that's brought to the attention of the management... Outside of that, it's a really great place to order soul food dining and I would definitely be back again and hope that this review brings those concerns to the attention of management.....

I ordered the 3 piece fish, 3 shrimp and 3 crab cakes with hush puppies and coleslaw as sides. Being a southern eatery, I didnt realize they were going to use frozen everything. The crab cakes were deep fried crunchy hard pucks on the outside and mush on the inside. The shrimp had no flavor and the breading was chewy not crunchy at all. The fish was so salty I had to wash my mouth out after the first bite. I tried a bite of each piece to see if every one would be the same and sure enough they were. The hush puppies were the best item I received. I was extremely disappointed considering all of the positive reviews. Will not go back and would not recomend.

Enjoyed a meal here recently of fish & shrimp! All the food was hot, fresh, and delicious! Our server Lashanna was the best - friendly, professional, kind, and attentive!! Great clean atmosphere and great food! I'll be back!

Had the fried shrimp with fries and mac and cheese. It was very good. The staff was very friendly. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but it was super cold out so I hope that is why it wasn't busy.

The service is amazing. LASHAWNA is an amazing waitress. My husband and I go from restraunt to restaurant looking for a place we would go back to and Sam's southern eatery is an amazing experience. For a chain I thought that the food was amazingly good. The fried green tomatoes and the okra was the best that I have ever had. The drawback is almost everything is fried....but it's a "Southern Eatery". The portions are large. Our group consisted of six big eaters and three people took food home. I had the grilled fish and it was quite tasty. The red beans and rice were very good, but the hush puppies weren't hot. The service was excellent, but the food was quite slow especially for lunch. Our waitress was extremely thorough in making sure that everything was correct. Since it was a business lunch, which she recognized, we weren't bombarded with the constant, "How's it tasting?"

INCREDIBLE Southern food!!! Easily the best catfish I have ever had, plus the staff were extremely friendly and inviting and fun!Will most certainly be coming back, and HIGHLY recommend to anybody looking for incredible quality comfort food in Wichita!!

The food was delicious. My family had the southern burger, wings, Philly cheese steak, crab cakes, shrimp and fish, baby shrimp and grilled cheese. They were all delicious! For sides we had hushpuppies, fries, coleslaw, and red beans. They were all amazing, especially the red beans and hushpuppies! The service was wonderful. I can't say enough good things and I can't wait to go back!

I have eaten at Sam's several times, and the food has usually been quite good. The service has also been pretty good, though I have never seen the same server twice. The last time, however, the service was possibly the worst I have ever got from any restaurant. Though I do not know for sure, I believe it was manager or owner. She not only gave poor service, but was argumentative, which, if in fact she was someone in charge, would explain why there has been so much turnover. I will eventually go back, but if the same server comes to my table again, I will, as politely as possible, ask for a different server,. If that is not possible, I will leave.

Just ate here for the first time. We had fried okra and fried mushrooms for appetizers. They were delish! The portions are great. Food is great. I had the fried catfish and shrimp. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely be going again.
