I enjoyed the tour. We learned some history. Bo was a great guide. If you are thinking about visiting, you should.
We love visiting Wild Turkey, doing either a tour or tasting, or visiting the bar to try something different or rare.
The tour and tasting here were amazing. Definitely one of the best tastings out of all the distilleries we have been to. The facilities were absolutely beautiful with great views of the beautiful Kentucky landscape.
We stopped at Wild Turkey on the recommendation of our bus driver on our
bourbon trail tour. We were glad we stopped by. They had many specialty drinks and bottles that you could try. They did have distillery only bottles to buy also. They had some food options but the kitchen was out of most of the food. They have a great view to sit outside and have a drink overlooking the river. We also had a special treat as Jimmy Russell was there and signed the bottles we bought. So cool.
Beautiful visitors center and grounds! The Russell’s tasting experience was great! There’s also a stellar bar to enjoy pours and cocktails of Wild Turkey products. If you get the timing right? You may just see and get to meet Jimmy!
American Honey: Wild Turkey’s beginnings date back to 1869 when the Ripy brothers opened the family distillery on Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, KY. The original recipe for American Honey wasn’t crafted until over 100 years later in the 1970’s by Wild Turkey distiller Jimmy Russell. Beginning with the bottle, I have to say that I love the design, which is both simple and elegant. Only complaint is I wish there was something that made it stand out more as a honey whiskey, such as an image of a bee. As expected, it has a sweet honey flavor and aroma accompanied by a burning kick from the whiskey. I enjoyed it both neat and mixed with a diet cola. Texturally, it has a somewhat thicker mouthfeel than other whiskies, but not to the point where it’s syrupy like schnapps. American Honey is 71 proof and 35.5%alc/vol. I also appreciate that they are transparent with the nutritional information. The added sugar brings a 1.5oz serving to 143 calories. If you have a sweet tooth like me, check this out for your next buzz (pun intended). Doughboy approved 😋

4.5 but will round to 5
The building is wonderful and the staff is very friendly
We made a wrong turn on our way to the distillery, ended up down a back road. Turned around and headed back up the road when we saw a dog that someone dropped off on the side of the road. It was really skinny and laying next to the guardrail. We fed it some food that we had in the car but it wouldn’t come to us. It was too afraid. We went back up the road and went to the distillery. I told the lady at the front desk and they were ready to help. Thank you guys for saving that dog. You’re all awesome!
We did a Russel’s immersion tasting yesterday. Out of every tour and experience I’ve done. This by far was the best. Yes the juice is amazing but our tasting host was by far the best. Kevin was his name. The way he told the history and explained everything made you feel as you were just at your buddies house.

Had a really good tour at wild turkey. Well worth the trip from NJ.
Great tasting experience. Great to be able to sample the various varieties in the lounge. Well worth the trip.
We had a wonderful time at our tasting. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the experience fun and engaging.
We will definitely be back. The cocktail bar drinks were pricey but phenomenal, and getting to keep the glass was a big bonus!
Had an amazing time at this distillery today with my wife & friend. I would highly recommend to book your tour in advance. The bar tender made a great old fashion, and I took home a bottle of their Bond & Lillard, and a bottle of Russell’s Reserve single barrel.
Great expereince, great guide. The new vistors center is beautiful.
