Don Jockey is such a cultural and gastronomical contribution to a town like Midway. They are true ambassadors of Mexican hospitality and cuisine. The owner, Jorge, works side by side with the staff, delivering a welcoming and personalized experience. The Blackened Chicken Sandwich and the Carne Asada are a must-have!"

We have eaten at Don Jockey twice, and both times the food was excellent. I had the tamales and street corn…well worth the drive from Lexington. It’s a bit loud, so grab a booth if one is available.

Everything about our visit was just fantastic...the food, the service, the atmosphere. Definitely one of our highlights of our visit to the Frankfort area!

This place tastes like it's run by a Canadian who's never heard of salt. The waitress didn't know what "refritos" were. She also served me a water in a dirty glass. The interior is fine, they have some fun paintings of horses. I would have rated them one star but their spicy salsa was surprisingly nice and hot. Their menu has "steak" tacos with absolutely no mention of what cut of beef. I had the tamales because it was Christmas time (6/10) and the quesadillas because they seemed like mulitas on the menu (2/10). They were not.The next night I went to a different restaurant in Lexington and ate 5 tacos as redemption.

The best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. It has so many authentic dishes you can't find anywhere else. The chips are always hot, the margaritas are fire, and the staff are excellent. If you're in Midway and craving Mexican, you HAVE to check this place out.

Fantastic food with so much flavor. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. The service was just as good as the food! Alexia was our server and she was very helpful as we wanted everything on the menu I will plan to return soon! Next time for a margarita!

Having moved from Lake Forest, a tony suburb on LakeMichigan north of Chicago , I was spoiled by my friend's RickBayless and his wife's famous James Beard's awardedrestaurant, Frontera in Chicago. Now living in Midway, I havethe best alternative, Don Jockey's, The food and drinks areamazing! The decor is especially surprising and beautiful witha huge portrait of the famous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. Adestination for gourmet Mexican food!

This is not your average hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint. Full bar and upscale menu make this place special. The decor is more modern than most Mexican places, too, with abstract paintings and rustic lighting. My Quesadilla Jalisco arrived at the table on a sizzling platter, decorated with fresh salsa, sour cream and guacamole. I ate every bite. The hubs, who ordered a burrito, WISHED he ordered mine. We actually stopped in there about 11:30 a.m., hoping for huevos rancheros, but I didn't leave disappointed. We didn't drink, but the cocktail menu and tequila selection looked bomb.FYI, the menu says they'll charge you for the chips and salsa.

Hands down the best Mexican food we've had in Kentucky (maybe anywhere)! Nestled in a quaint historic town, you'll find this unpretentious and not overly decorated gem! Seasoning is super tasty but not overdone and portion sizes are just right. It's our go to when traveling from Louisville to Lexington.
