Taco Mel? Tacos Buenos! It does not look like much when you look at it from the outside. You could probably just expect it to be another average small taqueria chain that gets 2 customers a month. But I can assure you, these tacos were muy perfecto. My family and I ordered 3 chicken tacos, tortilla chips, and a chicken quesadilla, which is extremely hard to screw up. The lady at the cashier was nice and speedy. We waited for a good 7 minutes. They didn't screw it up, they didn't even make it good, they made them excellent! The chicken and cheese mashed together made for a duo that was muy delicioso. The salsa on the chips danced in my mouth like a group of dancers practicing the salsa. The tortilla for both the quesadilla and tacos were fresh and did not disappoint. There is a ingredient bar where you can put on your own components so you can enhance the flavor of your tacos. It wasn't until after I was done eating that I noticed that the floor and tables weren't clean, they were removed of every single germ, they were spotless, pristine, even. I recommend trying out this taqueria, because it will make your tastebuds do the tango!

I’m not going to lie I loved this place. My family always come in from out of town and we go here but when I went I ordered shrimp tacos. Shrimp was completely rotten smelled horrible! Let the desk know absolutely didn’t care let another person know and they took it and smelled it agreed it smelled horrible. Never offered a refund or anything. I hate to say it but after eating spoiled shrimp I don’t think I’ll be back. The thought grosses me out which is a shame being this was once my favorite taco spot
The staff is so nice and the restroom was pretty clean and the whole place was clean. The food was delicious and amazing the tacos are the bomb. Totally recommend

Second and last time patronizing this establishment. Food is EXTREMELY subpar. The chicken appears to be Tyson Grilled and Ready from Kroger and the salsa is definitely giving Tostitos. And please don’t get me started on the watered down “cheese dip”. Never again!

I thoroughly enjoy eating at Taco Mel. The employees always have a smile on their faces, and they have a toppings bar to customize your meal with different sauces, cheese, and veggies.
Taco Mel is by far our favorite place to get actual Mexican food in Lake Charles. It’s a no-nonsense taco joint with better prices than Taco Bell. You walk in, tell them you want sautéed onions and veggies on your taco, then make it yourself. If it doesn’t taste good, it’s probably your own fault. We love love the barbacoa tacos and quesadilla, but it’s hard to go wrong here.It’s honestly probably the best thing Chuck has since we don’t have a Chipotle or Izzo’s but we’ll still be coming back here even when those pop up (probably never though).
10/5 Stars best street tacos around! I'm a bit taco snobby being raised in SoCal and Las Vegas....that TexMex BS they peddle in the area normally turns me completely off.... My only gripe is that they don't offer more items on the menu that they already have the ingredients for.... Like Nacho's or a burrito. There *HOT* Sauce on the topping bar is a taste of heaven! Full of flavor and fire!?

2nd time they have left out cheese and side order of the chips and salsa. Lettuce was also brown.. If you are eating in the restaurant this can be fixed. Don't get delivery.
