My family has shopped at Schaefer's/Schaefer & Rusich for over 45 years, but today is the last time due to total disrespect. A few months ago the freshly boiled shrimp was hard to peel and my girlfriend told the woman serving us, and the woman got upset that we would question the product, the manager in the back saw what was going on and brought us some shrimp from the back an asked us to try it and it peeled perfectly. The woman waiting on us was not happy that we questioned the product and that the boss fixed things. Today, a few months later we were going to purchase boiled shrimp, fresh shrimp, etc and again my girlfriend asked to peel the shrimp and again found it to be difficult to peel. An employee who was not waiting on us but saw what happened last time shouted out at my girlfriend and then pushed out the stuff we were going to buy and got nasty......I mentioned to the owner/manager how inappropriate this woman was and we were not going to purchase anything. This is my last trip to a place I have been buying product from for over 45 years and we have spent thousands of dollars at Schaffer's but you know there are other sellers of seafood in New Orleans.

Boiled shrimp were the SALTIEST I have ever had. If you like salt, get it here.I like spicy, but these were over the top salty. The spices were akin to a process meat like corned beef.Warning to anyone watching sodium intake, a mere half dozen made legs and feet swell.

Fresh and delicious seafood at a very reasonable price! It's great to be able to pick up some fresh filets and cook them the same day. They even have a great selection of frozen seafood and fish.There are a lot of seafood markets in the area, Schaefer is my go-to. I'm super impressed and will continue to buy from here.

Crawfish usually a nice size, today they were very small, the cold ones what mixed with a hot crawfish. Very disappointed, I am done with them for this season!! ???
